Thank you so much for this "HOW TO" I just finished installing these on my new RAM and your video was a big help. Would be nice to have a shop like yours but my driveway worked just fine. Well done, thanks again.
I have these on my Silverado. Had one issue with the passenger side bouncing as it got to the lowest point. I called AMP and they gave me some instructions on how to try and fix it but it didn't work so they sent me a replacement arm and didn't need the bad one back. AMP has great customer service.
This was a great tutorial and I appreciate it but you did not show us how to plug the adapter in under the dashboard at the end and that left me confused LOL
I bought this set for my brand new 2018 Ram 2500 Mega Cab and they gave me fits to install them! They Do Not Fit. I followed the written instructions exactly to the letter. Got all done, was all proud. Put power to them… And the retracted up under the truck and wedged behind the pinch welds. I worked for hours putting brackets and linkages on than taking them back off numerous times, I adjusted brackets and linkages to NO avail. The boards jammed up and got stuck under the truck every time to the point where I had to remove the motors and pried them out from under my brand new truck scratching up the AMP Research running boards. Decided to call customer service. I called and spoke with Brian Weaver. I explained my situation and he seemed to know exactly what happened. Brian said “they got stuck behind the pinch weld right???” I said Yep!!! He said with a snarky little attitude “I’ll send you an email that’ll explain what to do”… So I get this email with an eight step process to remedy the problem. I followed that set of instructions to the letter again. Well step # 8 said if all else fails take a hammer and bend the pinch weld seam over to make it fit. I tried but I would have had to bend that seam over 45 degrees and I didn’t want to go that far with the sledge hammer. Long story short I had to take a 4” angle grinder, remove ¼” + off the top of the pinch weld seam to get my new $1500 AMP Research’s running boards to operate on my $70,000 brand new truck. Needless to say I was PISSED!!!! For that amount of money the AMP Research product should have fit like a glove. If you are looking to buy a set of nice power retractable running boards LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! Don’t spend your money here, You will be Disappointed !!!!! PS… I took the AMP Research badges off the steps so they don’t get any free advertising from me. They better run flawlessly for a long time… If they so much as hiccup I’m going to unbolt them and throw them into the dumpster……. I’ll definitely let you know…….
That's not fair to have a shop that nice!!! Wow, a lift and all that room??? If I had that set up my frame would be waxed, lol. That Ram is awesome, all the mods you've done are really nice. Great job.
I just installed this on my 2008 F-15O. I am very impressed by the quality an how well everything fits the factory mounts. The installation on the Ford didn’t have any surprises.
Great. Video thanks. I bought mine from. eBay. I got a great price for them. Hit came with no. Directions. Thanks for video helped me a lot on the install specially for the step lights 😎👍🏽
Good job, looks great. Helpful hint: When you want to twist small to medium gauge wire (AWG) use a variable speed drill instead of a screwdriver it is quick and easy to control. I do it all the time when making multi-wire cables. I am thinking about getting a white Laramie Sport so your channel is very helpful.
Quality work. I also have 19 Ram 1500 Laramie w/ Black Appearance package and those steps. The only issue I discovered is a vibration in my steering wheel since installed. It's not bad, but annoying. I haven't tracked down the issue yet.
There is an active noise canceling canister on each side right where the support arm for the Amp board step is. You will need a Torx 40 to loosen slightly and angle the canister away from the support bar. The funny thing is that I had a certified dealer for amp install mine and they did not know this. I found this information on the 5thGENRAM forum.
FYI...the REVISED kit no longer comes with the relocation bracket.. I had to remove the driver side motor to get it plugged in... advise installing it last..

Hey awesome video. Thinking about getting these for my Laramie sport. Just wondering though if they show up on your Uconnect screen? Like how the factory ones do where u can deploy them while inside the truck or do they just go down only when the doors open? Thanks! And love the channel
Yeah they do not show up in the screen like the factory ones that is all factory programmed these run independently with the plug in the obd2 port and deploy when the doors open
