Great review, and overview. What's really important here is that the audio quality takes a MASSIVE leap when getting away from USB and going XLR through even a budget preamp (audio interface). This is true of all companies, not just Movo. Straight USB connectivity is simply not going to produce the dynamic range, warmth, or clean signal of a dedicated preamp and high quality A/D converter, as one finds in a halfway decent audio interface.
Thanks for the review Shane. I couldn't even find that pack on their website. Yeah, that USB interface they supply is pretty ordinary. I'm still of the firm opinion to buy an audio interface and you can use whatever mic you like with it. And still hook it up to a PA when you're not using it with the computer. Just makes it a little more future proof. One thing I did notice when browsing their website is they have a lot of good looking gear, but I'm 100% certain it's re-badged gear. I've bought a shotgun camera mic that looks suspiciously like the one they sell. Sounds pretty good though for the price.
seems like its worth it for the price. Given that I own a TLM 103 I can hear the huge difference, but I need to get more mics because im starting a video podcast. I found a 4 mic package on Amazon and might consider it. im new but this video helps. thank you.
That was a super review for people on a very tight budget. Clearly it was much better thru the sound card. Using the prox effect at this price how can you complain? I'm sure with a dbx 286s this mic would sound heaps better still (check out GNT's review of the dbx286s). Another excellent vlog mate.
I appreciate this review. It is the reason I purchased this mic and interface. The problem is, I plug everything in and I still can't get the mic to work. No recording sound at all. All of my other mics have sound, so it isn't a listening issues. It simply is not recording sound. Any clues? I am on a pc and my operating system is windows 11. I am trying to record using Zoom.
@GeekyNerdyTechy Yep. Plugged into my pc. I reached out to Movo and they think it is a manufacturing defect. I finally got sound, but the signal was weak. They are sending me a new interface. Good customer service.

Not a bad sound when you get upon it with the proximity effect. Not bad for $40.
The external sound card helped a lot. The noise floor came down and the mic really came alive :-). Thanks for the feedback.

I added the effect in my editing suit from Final Cut (it's a check box that adds some compression etc).
The provided sound card sounded really bad. With the USB interface, it was much better.
