The first time I saw a reaction to this song, I was in total shock. My musical taste started in the 60's, and Josh Teskey took me back to the soul of Otis Redding.
I think the reason "blue eyed soul" is making a resurgence is because the music isn't being carried on by those that originated it. There is no modern day Otis Redding, Sam Cook, Percy Sledge... people want that music. Look how popular Amy Winehouse was for the short period that she was on the scene. The demand is there but nobody is stepping up. Could you imagine Usher or Beyonce doing a throwback soul album with real instruments including a horn section? It would break RUclips.
Ladies I truly love your expression when Josh started to sing I was speechless also Josh has such a soulful, raspy, old-school voice, the notes that he cannot hear makes the soul sound so much better thank you ladies truly enjoyed your reaction to this song
Teskey brothers.. Theeee best blues I've heard in so long. It's like, I think his name is Josh but you can feel the soul he puts into each song. Love them, love them, love them! I would so love to see them in concert.
I am an old lady who was brought up listening to classical, jazz, soul, R&B, rock … good music transcends race and colour, but soul speaks to me. As to comparing voices of colour, Josh doesn’t sound like Michael Jackson who doesn’t sound like Paul Robeson, they just use the voice their DNA gifts them, but like you all said, soul isn’t soul unless the singer feels it on a cellular level. Unlike the USA, where white music dominated until the 60’s, the rest of the World appreciated jazz, soul and R&B decades before white America accepted black music. I loved Bessie Smith, Harry Belafonte, The Platters (OMG I played them for hours in the 50’s). It was white singers like Elvis, the Righteous Brothers and so many British and European performers who cited the influence of black artists on their music that brought Mow-town performers such huge recognition and acceptance in their own Country and giving us the joy of hearing some of the World’s best artists. That’s why we all appreciate those gravelly soul deep voices of artists of all colours. Since Otis, we have had Janis, Cocker, Stewart, Ami and everyone else in between, black, white and whatever and now, the Teskeys. Thank you God, that soul will always be with us and so proud that a group from my neck of the woods is taking soul to the rest of the 🌎 .
Não tem como!! Interpretação desse cara é INSANA! umas das vozes mais linda que já tive o prazer de ouvir...na sua simplicidade ele dá um show!!! UAUAUUU
haha, the beautiful ladies reacted to it....Good on ya.. Cheers from Baz in OZ. In a similar vein, The Teskey Brothers - Pain And Misery (Official Video)..
60's soul, right in there with Otis Redding, Clarence Carter etc etc. There isn't enough artist playing this style of music today.....................maybe Leon Bridges, arguably Chris Stapleton, Marc Broussard has a soulful voice. Have already purchased The Tedeskey Brothers CD's. Hope they tour close to Virgina Beach....I will be there.
I love your reactions to the music you go through. Showing this young mans voice the first thing I thought of was Otis Redding. For me growing up I listened to more R&B, soul, Hip-Hop and older rap but what was funny to me was how every body thought Bobby Caldwell was black back in the day until I saw him on Soul Train...lol
Legendary current soul voice paying homage and keeping the best music going. Marc Broussard does it too. Do yourselves a favor and look up Marc let’s get them to do a duet!!!
Great Reaction Ladies! Been waiting for ages for someone else to discover/react to this Teskey Brothers song, love all your perspectives from a singers/musos point of view and you're so right, there are a great number of blue eyed soul singers but there aren't many that connect on a truly soulful level to the lyrics. The Teskey Brothers are from state of Victoria in Australia, this is their original song rather than a cover and lead singer's name is Josh Teskey, hopefully you'll react to more of their songs :).
if you like soul from artists that you wouldn't expect to sound like they do, listen to St. Paul and The Broken Bones - Grass Is Greener | OurVinyl Sessions.
It sounds familiar because it’s sampled from “I’d rather go blind” by Etta James. Just like Tennessee Whiskey. And many others. But it’s still a FANTASTIC song!!!!
Hi Ladies ☝️if you haven’t listened to this album already, you have to check out , Josh Teskey & Ash Grunwald “Push The Blues Away” Beautiful Album and definitely hit my soul ☝️👌
He sounds like Mr Otis Redding. That's why you guys thought you have heard this song before (this is not a Otis song it's a Teskey song) I never thought I'd ever here a voice like Mr Otis Redding again....This man is Aussie Otis Redding.
They hit different for reals heard them song on a commercials and went dam who’s that then find they Australian blew my mind. See them live and they even better
Sounds like Smokey or Motown...are you kidding me ladies??? He sounds like Otis if anyone. Listen to Van Morrison when it comes to white sounds like black. Anyone look at me giving my reaction to your reaction :-)
I don't see any reactions to female vocalists on your site, so since you've turned me on to the Teskey Brothers, I thought I'd stear you to an incredible female blues vocalist: Beth Hart (a belter with incredible vibrato). Here are 3 excellent examples of Beth: "I'll Take Care of You" Live with Joe Bonamassa at the Beacon Theater ruclips.net/video/nW3OrLHj0lQ/видео.html, or her cover of Sam Cooke's iconic "A Change is Gonna Come" ruclips.net/video/QnIL8AKWRNQ/видео.html, and "Thankful" ruclips.net/video/1Gtvccgc0yo/видео.html. She is incredible and should heard more often.
Feel the song I get up by The brothers.....peace ladies....God bless.....and if I could suggest a song on here to listen to....Lets get it on by Southern Voice Band....live at a BBQ...honestly you will thank me for it

I’ve been watching a lot of reactions to this song and everyone says Otis Redding vibes. You’re spot on!
Darling on the left was in love from the first note 😍
Nobody has sounded this good since Otis Redding
I mean Leon Bridges and St. Paul And The Broken Bones are right there.
@@sventharfatman different styles, this is pure soul.
Absolutely
Paolo Nutini is up there
@@coreygrange915Say that again! Iron Sky and Diana!....oooooweeee. The Teskey's certainly deserve all of their flowers, though.

Love this man's voice.
This is not country this is Soul. There is no colour in real music.
That's naive thinking
@@Mark_B585 and you may explane me why?
@@vigilantdr.dolittle nope your bias is showing. I wish there was a world of no colour
@@Mark_B585 your bias is showing this is soul music plain and simple...
@@zydh9441 ok white dude 😐
You got it spot on, it feels genuine, they have so such passion for this. They aren't doing it to make money, this is pure passion driven.
