For the 1st phase, if you stick far, but jog towards him when his attack is done, he'll either dash, wich you can parry, or jump over you, in wich case you can backstab him if you stuck close enough (no dodging).
+josh simmons Thanks bro,. Yeah i know its not impressive as feats done by other great hunters but for me it was rather challenging. Many times i had to retry because i missed the parry window and accidentally hit the boss with R1...
Bro, I have *literally* been trying to kill Orphan of Kos for 3 days now... I *never even thought* of trying to parry his second phase as I just assumed it wasn't possible. Thanks to this video, I was FINALLY able to put him back to sea... so, from one gracious hunter to another - thank you 😊
I COULD'VE PARRIED HIM THIS WHOLE TIME?!, I spent hours learning where i can attack in between it's moves and now i find out that i could've just parried him. I tried so many times that i depleted my blood vial stock multiple times. I'm so stupid.
his second phase was completely different in my playthrough. he only jumps around throwing lightning and blood bombs and the aerial charge. can't hit him whatsoever
Hes really random with his attack patterns but they seem to randomize from a certain pool of like 3-5 attacks based on your proximity to him. Are you holding back and maintaining distance? If so try getting closer to him. I'm not saying he wont still do those other attacks but it might be less likely. Worth a shot
It is (well, not that hard tbh compared to Elden Ring or something, but still.) Parrying many of these moves takes just as much patience to learning every available melee dodge/window to exploit and good reaction time as fighting the boss dodge only. It's a proficiency in a different skill, which Souls games reward with the same victory.
Well it's locked fps at 30 so even with a fast monitor to play on there is gonna be delay with your controls cus of input delay at that frame rate, if it was at 240 reacting would be so much easier
Currently doing a BL4 run and this is more or less the only boss left. I can usually take him out in a a normal playthrough in a few tries but a lot of well placed attacks one shot me lol. I've mostly gotten down a good strategy for phase 1 but I was thinking of parrying him to death for phase 2. Not riposting mind you, cause viscerals don't do crap in BL4, but I'll be doing Saw Cleaver transformation attacks if I can get close
Yep pretty much how my fight with him went only I did about 2500 damage and used oedon writhe and blood rapture runes took seven tries first time I beat him and four blood vials. God is he difficult...
can you please do me a favor and help me... i'm on NG+++ platinum'd the game but this boss is just unkillable its now 3 days with no progression I'm so frustrated
Sponzy Keep trying man, he's the hardest (and for me best boss) in the series. It took me a few weeks to beat him for the first time in ng+4 when I fought him :)
when he is in 50% of his health, he will transform, you don't want him to do this, the boss fight becomes basically impossible at that point, so, when orphan is almost transforming, you want to take some blood bullets, riposte him, but don't finish the parry, do 2 quick attacks, back away, parry his next attack and do 2 quick attacks again, keep doing this and he won't transform and you will eventually kill him
What are your stats and is it NG? i don't do anything near of this vsc-dmg :D and i got 50 skill and even glitch-dupplicated my clawmark runes for +72% extra dmg :D
Just started DS3 and only made it to the first boss, but in the 5 seconds of research I did it seems Orphan is. Although difficulty is subjective, so you may find Orphan easier.
Waay harder. Midir may seem hard at first but once you learn him you will realize that he is extremly predictable. Stay in front of his head and dodge melee attacks backwards and punish. If your position is correct he will rarely do any of the real dangerous attacks.
@@Nrzpokrter yeah I beat orphan of Kos alone but I haven’t beaten Midir alone mostly because I don’t care all that much but yeah orphan was way way harder
@@laundrybasketgamers Midir actually gets harder with summons. You want him to stay focused on you. But yeah, imo orphan is the hardest fight in the soulsborne games. And he is super fun.
Yoln9086 I figured out a better technique. I can only get 2 or 3 perry each match. It's extremely hard to time against a patternless boss. But the better technique is back stabing and getting perry's were I can. It allows me to save blood villas for second phase. Second phase is keep away untile I get a good opening. So I beat him that way. 🤗🎉🎉🎉

Does parry make the game easier that it ruined the game? Or it still remain enjoyable?
Illvuan it takes lots of practice and is gratifying to pull off
Is it easier to parry him than Gwyn?
Illvuan for the human bosses, yes. It's quite easy just to shoot and get a parry, the Orphan however takes some practice.
