Aïcha was also accused of adultery with another man until Allah stated her innocence. It's amazing seeing people saying opposite things just to discredit Islam, and how their social norms completely flip over through millenias.

Until the 1800s the average life expectancy was around 35 years old. So marrying at around nine or ten does not look so crazy then, does it?

    • @yington
      @yington 3 месяца назад +2

You don’t understand life expectancy at all.
This figure was skewed by child mortality. If you remove those who died before the age of 5, it’s above 50. So if you make it past 5, your life expectancy was into 50’s or more.
But regardless- yeh a bloke in his 50’s marrying a 6 year old kid , and sleeping with her when she was 9 years old is completely fucked up.
Even worse, if you are supposed to be the perfect example for all time for all people.

      @@yingtonYou are wrong!
      It was low.
There is a very popular myth that life expectancy has increased only by reducing child mortality. The idea is that in the past child mortality was high, but that the survivors were strong and had a long life expectancy.
      That is insanely false.
Based on Early Neolithic data, remaining life expectancy at 15 years old was 28-33 years. So in Early Neolithic, somebody having survived childhood and having reached the age of 15 could, on average, hope to reach the “advanced” age of 43.
In Classical Greece, remaining life expectancy at 15 years old was 37-41 years. So somebody having survived childhood and having reached the age of 15 could, on average, hope to reach the “advanced” age of 52.

@@yington The prophet (pbuh) was fit. And she was physically and mentally ready for the marriage. She felt jealousy for the prophet. When she was offered to leave the prophet as wife she denied.
Mother of the believers Aisha (ra) was married to the prophet for a period of nine years and five months, and she was the only virgin he married. The story of the marriage of Prophet Muhammad (saw) to Aisha (ra) is one of love and mercy.
Aisha (ra) was the one who narrated the details of this love through numerous accounts in which the intensity of deep love between the two is quite evident. She used to describe the tenderness of Prophet Muhammad to her and the sense of care that he showed her. Here are some of the narrations:
      Narration 1:
Once the Prophet Muhammad (saw) was sitting in a room with Aisha (ra) and fixing his shoes. It was very warm, and Aisha looked to his blessed forehead and noticed that there were beads of sweat on it. She became overwhelmed by the majesty of that sight and was staring at him long enough for him to notice.
He said, “What’s the matter?” She replied, “If Abu Bukair Al-Huthali, the poet, saw you, he would know that his poem was written for you.”The Prophet, peace be upon him, asked, “What did he say?” She replied, “Abu Bukair said that if you looked to the majesty of the moon, it twinkles and lights up the world for everyone to see.” So the Prophet, peace be upon him, got up, walked to Aisha, kissed her between the eyes, and said, “By God, O Aisha, you are like that to me and more.” (Dala’el Al-Nubuwa)
      Narration 2:
Aisha (ra) relates the following about her husband, the Prophet (saw):
I swear by Allah that I saw Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) standing at the door of my room while the Abyssinians were engaged in spear play in the mosque of Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him). He screened me with his cloak so I could watch them perform. He stood there for my sake until I decided that I had had enough. Now just imagine how much time a young girl eager for entertainment would stand there watching. [Sahîh al-Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim]
      Narration 3:
When the Prophet Muhammad (saw) would have a meal with Aisha (ra), they would both eat from the same plate and drink from the same cup as each other. What the Prophet (saw) would do is, turn the cup where Aisha’s lip marks were left and would drink from that side of the cup. He would also make eye contact with her and then drink. [Sahîh al-Bukhârî ]
      Narration 4:
Aisha (ra) said: That she accompanied the Prophet on a certain journey. At that time she was a mere girl and was neither fat nor bulky. The Prophet asked the people to move on, and they marched ahead. Then the Prophet said to me, “Come on, let us have a race.” Aisha says that she ran and remained much ahead of him. The Prophet kept quiet for some time. Later on when Aisha grew fat and loose bodied, and she forgot the previous incident. Again she accompanied the Prophet on some journey. The Prophet again asked the people to march ahead, and they moved ahead. Then the Prophet again asked her to have a race with him. This time the prophet defeated her and she lagged behind. Now the Prophet laughed and said, “This is in reply to our previous defeat.” [Ahmad, Safwat as-Safwah]
      Narration 5:
Aisha (ra) would often seek reassurance from The Prophet (saw) that he loved her.
“How is your love for me?” she once asked.
“Like the rope’s knot,” he replied, meaning that it was strong and secure, and as the rope is pulled the knot gets stronger.
She was very pleased with his love, and many times after that she would ask, “How is the knot?” and he would reply: “Ala haaliha” meaning “The same as ever!” [Hilya al Awliya]
The marriage of Ayesha (ra) elevated her status among the Muslims as “Mother of the Believers”. Her marriage to the Prophet of Allah had a profound effect on her personality. She was very close to the Prophet (saw), and being of young age and extremely intelligent, she benefited a lot from the company of the Prophet (saw). There are around 2,210 ahadith which have been narrated by Ayesha (ra) from the Prophet (saw). These include ahadith on many diverse matters, not only pertaining to private life of the Prophet (saw), but also matters such as prayers, fasting, inheritance, pilgrimage, and doctrinal issues. Ayesha (ra) practiced Ijtihad (independent legal reasoning) and was singled out by her unique narrations of prophetic traditions that were not collected by other companions. The eminent hadith scholar al-Zarkashi compiled all the prophetic traditions which Ayesha (ra) solely narrated in a valuable book titled "الإجابة لإيراد ما استدركته عائشة على الصحابة" (the collection of what Ayesha has added and was missing from the companions). She lived for 44 years after the death of the Prophet (saw), and was considered one of the greatest scholars of Islam. Muslims used to regularly consult her and learn from her matters of Deen, and her opinion was always very well respected.
Aisha (ra) remained Prophet’s favorite wife throughout his life. When he became ill and suspected that he was probably going to die, he began to ask his wives whose apartment he was to stay in next. They eventually figured out that he was trying to determine when he was due with Aisha (ra), and they then allowed him to retire there. He remained in Aisha's (ra) apartment until his death, and his last breath was taken as he lay in the arms of Aisha (ra), his most beloved wife. This was the ultimate commemoration of a beautiful love story.
This is how mother of the believers Aisha bint Abi Bakr (ra) viewed her marriage with the Prophet Muhammad (saw) i.e. that of love, sweetness, gentleness and companionship. And this is the model Muslim couples should try to emulate for a successful married life. Be creative. Be romantic. Be sweet. Be loving and most important of all, do it because it is what was practiced and taught by the Prophet of Islam.
EDIT 1: Question regarding marriage circumstances and age of Aisha (ra) at the time of marriage:
In response to some questions regarding the above, here follows the explanation:
The purpose of the original answer was to show how mother of the believers Aisha (ra) felt about her marriage to the Prophet (saw). She did not feel oppressed or subdued, rather she was very happy and content; and what matters is how she felt not how some people 1440 years after that are feeling.

As a shia we have a narration that says Aisha was 18 as far as I know. I don't think we can be certain of Aisha's age because celebrating birthdays and keeping account of the year wasn't accurate as far as I understand. In any case the prophet (pbuh) certainly didn't abuse her and she loved the prophet (pbuh) very much. So all this obsessing over her age is kinda pointless. Measuring morality and legality of marriage age based on a modern yard stick is irrelevant and doesn't achieve anything.

I completely agree with you. Aisha is said to be one of the first to accept islam together with her father, 10 years before Hijra. Lets say she was 6 at that time, which is a very young age to understand and accept a religion.
She married the prophet 1-2 years after Hijra, so 11-12 years later... she couldnt be younger than 18.
The comparison to her sister Asmas age is already widely known, which also makes her around 17 at time of marriage.
And besides, even her age of death isnt certain and varies from 72 to 76. How can someone be so sure about her age of marriage then? Only narration is made by herself.. speaking against all the other historical events and facts.

    Hadith.
Narrated Aisha: The Prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became Allright, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah's Blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah's Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age.

For the people saying all these disgusting islamophobic ideologies from paid and racist people lol here u go The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made this request ten years after the beginning of the Revelation. Aisha was born 5-6 years before the beginning of revelation. Thus, it appears that the age of Aisha was 17-18 when she got married to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This point is included in full detail in the book "Asr-1 Saadet (The Era of Bliss)" by Mawlana Shibli. (Ist. 1928. 2/997)
We can definitely conclude from the biography on Asma, Aisha's elder sister, that Aisha was at a
marriageable age when she got married to the Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH). The old biography books write about Asma as follows: "When Asma was 100 years of age, she died in the seventy third year of the Emigration (Hijrah). During the Emigration, she was exactly 27 years old. Since Aisha was 10 years younger than her sister was, she needs to be at her 17. Besides, she had been engaged to Jubair before she married the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). So she was a girl at a marriageable age." (Hatemu'l Enbiya (The Seal of Prophets) The Prophet Muhammad and His life, Ali Himmet Berki, Osman Keskioğlu, p. 210).

ALLAH only uses the word WOMEN, neither young girls nor girls, ''women'' who can be married with conscious consent. You're going to tell me about Aicha, but this was an exception and first of all, I remind you that the marriage was only ''consummated''once she had reached puberty:
Explanation: in those days, the consent of the parent was sufficient, and it was often arranged. Aisha was already promised to someone back then, and marriage was the only way to cancel the engagement.
Why did he marry her? ALLAH showed her to him in a dream, making him understand that she would be his wife in paradise and that he should therefore marry her. He denied it (the dream, yes, he dared in the face of divine revelation - I've come to the explanation) and the dream was repeated several times until the angel Gabriel called him to ask him why he was denying the message, The Prophet (peace be upon him) explains that it's the age of this one that bothers him, she's too young, so he ends up marrying her but doesn't tou ch her, he even bought her dolls and so on. Now you're going to say yes, ''but what if she was pre-pubescent? the age is still too young ..." What you are ignoring or not taking into account is the time ATTENTION not the standards of the time, the prophet follows only the standards of Allah and it is formally forbidden p€ dophilia and any kind of se+ual drift, no I'm talking about the time at the time it did not flow in the same way, indeed :
According to Anas Ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (may the prayers of Allah and His salvation be upon him) said:
"The hour will not take place until time shrinks, a year will be like a month, a month will be like a week, a week will be like a day, a day will be like an hour and the hour will be like the time that lasts what is used to light the fire when it is put into the flames."
(Reported by Tirmidhi in his Sunan n°2332 and authenticated by Sheikh Albani in his correction of Sunan Tirmidhi)
This is what will cause btw the sun to rise in the west at the end of time:
"The Hour will not come until the sun rises in the west; and when it rises in the west and people see it, they will all believe."
This phenomenon has recently been discovered, which corresponds to Schuman's resonance. Basically, this means that 12 years in our time is absolutely not equivalent to 12 years back then, so it comes as a shock to us in our time because it doesn't correspond to the same time in reality, and believe me, just between 1980 and the 21st century, Schuman's resonance, which causes time to accelerate, went from 7.8 to 12 hertz. I'll let you imagine the time difference between 1400 years ago and NOWADAYS which must be enormous, especially since we've only been able to measure this resonance since 1980.
YES WE WERE BASICALLY TOLD ABOUT SCHUMAN'S RESONANCE 1400 YEARS AGO WICH WAS ONLY DISCOVERED IN THE 80S!
And ALLAH knows better, it's like the number of ashab Al kahf

ARE REAL SEE THE VIDEO OR NOT okay let me explain to you
We say, this assumption is strongly motivated by the culture of the questioner. Maybe people who ask this question come from a society that is not used to women getting married early. As for ancient Arab culture, this was not something strange or taboo.
The proof is, the Quraysh infidels who were so fiercely hostile to the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wa sallam, they tried to give bad titles to him such as "sorcerers", "crazy people", "crazy poets", "liars", "shamans" , and the like. But there was no reproach from the disbelievers regarding his marriage to Aisha. This shows that it is common in their culture.
In addition, when a woman has menstruated, it means that her reproductive system and physically she is ready to become a wife. Imam Asy-Shafi'i once said:
رأيت جدة ولها إحدى وعشرين سنة
"I have seen a woman who has become a grandmother at the age of 21" (Fathul Bari, 5/277).
It is assumed, the woman had her period at the age of 9, then married, at the age of 10 gave birth, at the age of 19 the child was 9 years old, the child then menstruated, at the age of 20 the child married, at the age of 21 the child has given birth. Become a grandmother at the age of 21 years. So something like this might happen, as it happened during the time of Imam Ash-Shafi'i.
As for psychologically, it cannot be generalized that all children aged 9 years are not mentally ready to marry. Of course this really depends on many factors: the condition of the child, environment, culture, etc. What we know is that the Prophet's and Aisha's household did not run aground in the middle of the road. Even incised a lot of examples in morals, management, and romance in the household.

@@chrislew8423 SAY THAT TO EVERYONE THEN ALMOST EVERY SINGLE CIVILAZATION DO THAT THAT INTHE PAST. Early marriage in ancient Greece
A girl in ancient Greece was betrothed at the age of 5 and married at an average age of 14-15 years and the groom was around 30 years old
      Early marriage in Ancient Rome
In general, around 530 AD, the legal age for a bride to marry was 12 years and for a groom 14 years, the engagement was carried out long before that age, generally at the age of 7 years. Emperor August, who ruled long ago (7 AD), set the minimum age for marriage at 10 years. Determining the legal age for marriage does not take into account whether a girl has reached puberty or not. As long as the legal age is met, the marriage can take place.
      Early marriage in Ancient Egypt
The general age of marriage in ancient Egypt was 12/13 years for women and 14 years for men. In fact, records that have been found about the marriage age of an ancient Egyptian girl during the Greco-Roman period were 8 years.
      Early Marriage in China
Each dynasty had a different marriage age limit, the Han dynasty set the marriage age limit at 15 years, the Tang dynasty 25 years, the Qing dynasty 16 years. In the middle of the Ching dynasty, the Lolo tribe in SzeChuan Province even married off their children at the age of 4-5 years.
      Early marriage in Europe
In Europe, in the Middle Ages, upper class women usually married at the age of 12 and a maximum of 14 years, while men usually married at the age of 17.
Meanwhile for lower middle class women, especially farming communities, the bride's parents do not have the power to determine their child's marriage. In some parts of Europe, marriages of lower middle class women were arranged by landowning nobles, local feudal lords. And these rulers took away the bride's virginity before marrying her partner.
The rule of the feudal lord is called Jus Primae Noctis which means Jus= Law, Primae Noctis= first night, in French it is called Droit de Seigneur which means Landlord's Rights, in Germany it is called das Recht der ersten nacht which means Right to the first night .
Maybe readers have often heard the story of Romeo and Juliet. In the story, it is described that Juliet was 13 years old when she married, and Juliet's mother was only 26 years old. From this it can be concluded that people in medieval Europe considered it normal to marry at that age.
Examples of European aristocrats who married at an early age
Richard Of Shrewbury married 5 year old Anne de Mowbray of Norfolk
Anne De Mowbrey (1472-1481) was the daughter of John De Mowbray, 4th Duke of Norfolk. Anne De Mowbrey (4 years old) married on 15 January 1478 to Richard of Shrewbury (first Duke of York) (4 years old)

remember this was 1400 years ago people were very different at that time
they lived in harsh environments with no medical technology so they matured very quickly
at that time 12yo boys would get married and have families and responsibilities
nowadays 20-30yo boys are still living in moms basement but back then the average lifespan was around 30-40 so people didn't have the luxury of waiting more than half their lives to get married
