Actually a really nice tutorial, worth noting that a CADC can be used to start a combo rather than crumpling or switching phase with the counter attack too. I need some more training though shofu, teach me your Pika combos.....
Shofu only made this because of the Suicune punishment rofl. I see you Shofu looking out for your fellow pokken players so they don't get smashed online :]
+SirNite221 aye just got to keep practicing. Like Shofu does he gets better so you got to get better to so you can beat him on rated :]. Just do a few practice matches and learn some tricks, you'll get better
Shofu's professor voice is hilarious. CADC(FADC for SF players) was a busted mechanic then, but it might be less busted here with the opponents who spray the field in long range attacks.
very well made video shofu. i can't believe i forgot about counter dash cancelling. i could have been saving myself so much trouble. I played the tutorial and i always go to the dojo to learn and practice combos and I just forgot.
Hey Shofu, I just want to say THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I bought this game Day 1 and went through the entire tutorial. I knew how counters worked but your video cleaned up some of that understanding as well as showed some practical uses for dash canceling. Seeing someone else break down some of these mechanics for dummies like me was incredibly helpful and I feel like I'm going to be able to enjoy the game just a bit more now. Thanks again!
I love this game, and I appreciate everything you're doing for Pokken. It deserves a big community just like any other fighting game, and these kinds of videos are the first steps to that!
Thank you so much, Shofu. I love Pokken, I've been waiting a Pokemon fighting game for 6 years but I have one major problem : I suck at fighting games. I tend to let the stress control my thinking process and end up doing complete BS. So seeing you making a tutorial series is really helping.
I played the tutorial but what I didn't know is tapping R to cancel instantly. I've been trying to do the input and messing up the timing constantly. Thanks for this!
I agree. I still haven't played online, but I tried training mode with 'very hard' CPU and couldn't do anything, not one successful move. I went to the tutorial, and learned some combos, and now, I've earned the 'perfectionist' title for getting so many perfect runs
I played the tutorial and shit, but I kinda skipped through it and missed the Counter Dash cancel - I started at 3 in the morning - and I play Blaziken, so I've been stuck without an approach for projectile characters, and now I have one! Thank you my man.
I'm super happy you've started this as a series, i cant wait to learn from the masterful being that you are shofu. my man, mah nigga, our friend safe g :D
Nice presenting voice lol. I do have a problem dealing with braixen, suicune, and chandelure. Thanks for telling me about it. I didnt know I could absorb projectile damage.
You should do a video about partner pokemon and the strategies you can use with them and which fighters pair well with certain ones. I feel like they get overlooked by most players.
I can say that yes, I played the Tutorial ! This is some great advice so far though, but I'm hoping you'll go into other tips soon. I've been playing Chandelure pretty exclusively, so I know she's a zoning type character. The issue I run into is that while I can keep my opponent away with charged Y's and her other ranged attacks, I find that I'm in for a world of hurt once they do manage to get close to me. So my first request is some tips on how to deal with those close ranged fighters (Machamp in particular) once they back me into a corner. I'm curious how I can either escape from being cornered, or simply create distance once again and continue to zone them. My second issue is with properly countering the correct attacks. I'm fully aware of the attack triangle. Grabs beating Counters, Counters beating Regular Attacks, and Regular Attacks beating Grabs. I do understand this triangle, but I find myself repeatedly timing all 3 of them poorly, and using the wrong one for the wrong situation, causing me to get bodied before I have a chance to even get back up. So with that said, I hope you can provide some solid tips on how to time these attacks properly, and use the correct ones for the appropriate situation. I'm sure this will come with time, but if there's any extra little tricks you've found, I'd like to learn them. Really loving this game though. Chandelure is awesome. (O++O)
This was perfect! I was looking for a way too deal with zoners before jumping on ranked. I'm a hot head so I tend to get camped out easily in fighting games lol
hey shofu thanks a lot for this tutorial. I'm still fresh to the game and even after playing the tutorial, I still had so problems. Thanks to you, I can get serious with mix ups and combos. 😃
I'm so glad I did all the tutorials and extensively practiced the combo dojo, cuz now in the blue league I'm an unstoppable monster (almost red league now)
Id like to ask for advice on stringing combos, how to know if what I have is a combo, and when I should implement them in my battling compared to blocking, grabbing, and countering. As well, Id like to know what the advantages are of certain stages to certain characters and what to look out for when fighting different pokemon.
Hey Shofu, is there any chance you're going to do some sort of series looking at/playing all of the characters separately? Like how you did your for glory series in Smash? This game looks so amazing, and I'd really love to see how everyone works/is supposed to work, especially Sceptile. Either way, I'm loving all the Pokken content so far, I'm glad your focus while playing it doesn't take away from your commentary.
Great video shofu! I only wish you had done something like this for smash, I really want to step up my competitive game, but can't really find quality resources.
shofui i would like to see you making a tutorial for punishing, or how to play against different types of players for example, if they camp with ranged attacks, or if they go in.... anyways, great video thanks!! ill be sure to practice more rn since i just got the game
Shofu could you release a list of the characters in order of strength, why why? Like a video with top 16 pokken characters and like a 3 minute explanation with why they're good and bad. It would be really cool and I don't think anyone's done something like this
Shofu, I'm glad you made tips and tricks(this is the 1st time I'm on your channel)I aiming to make top 8 at evo and with your tricks(and dash counter I just now learned) I'm sure i can make evotop8. You keep pumping out those tricks ill keep racking you those wins. And not sure if you'll ever see this but if you want a well rounded fighter just hit me up with a PM and we'll test out our pokken might.
Thnx, I forgot about dash canceling the counter. I haven't played online yet, I've only played the tutorial and green league, I don't plan to play online, until I unlock everything in the game.
So I just picked up the game and played the tutorials, all of them, but it was a lot to take in and so, it's quite easy to forget especially when getting in a fight. Remembering to counter, grab and block plus the combos how to camp out opponents, the spacing of every attack how to get in using allies. The inputs may be simple but god damn is the execution hard. So anyways thanks for these extra tutorial.
AH! there we go that's what I was missing! thanks for the tips can't wait to see more hope! hope one day I'll be high rank enough to play against you xD
Shofu could I suggest covering wall game, I know for me that I get trapped near the walls online a lot, and find myself letting my opponent escape easily when I get them near the walls.
So basically Shofu is going to be the ZeRo of Pokkén, I really think that this game has the potential to become the same or even more huge than Smash competitively.
Although I played the tutorials extensively lol I also carry the memory of a disabled Magikarp haha! I'm gonna need to some practice with CADC. I feel it'll help my Charizard out immensely. :)
Actually a really nice tutorial, worth noting that a CADC can be used to start a combo rather than crumpling or switching phase with the counter attack too.
I need some more training though shofu, teach me your Pika combos.....
PLAY THE DAMN TUTORIAL!
+shofu Get that Japanese suicune in one of these videos
+CatMix RotMG ...what?
The controls ARE TOO COMPLICATED!!1!1!
:]
+shofu the suicune who beat your ass, i believe (your words not mine)
happy birthday shofu :]
Shofu only made this because of the Suicune punishment rofl. I see you Shofu looking out for your fellow pokken players so they don't get smashed online :]
+Mike Oye No, I made it for people who will inevitably struggle against the pub stomper characters like Machamp and Chandelure
+shofu excuses excuses :P
+shofu i saw tutorial and breezed through that, then got my ass handed to me by a blaziken. def learned my lesson haha
+SirNite221 aye just got to keep practicing. Like Shofu does he gets better so you got to get better to so you can beat him on rated :]. Just do a few practice matches and learn some tricks, you'll get better
+shofu machamp and chandeliure are noon killers.
Shofu sounded like he was giving a tour for a college 😂😂
shofu trying to guide his fellow brothers & sisters on campus to success! xD
lol. the man was just reading off his script.
The way shofu was talking, I was just laughing the whole time.
Shofu's professor voice is hilarious.
CADC(FADC for SF players) was a busted mechanic then, but it might be less busted here with the opponents who spray the field in long range attacks.
WE IN THERE
very well made video shofu. i can't believe i forgot about counter dash cancelling. i could have been saving myself so much trouble. I played the tutorial and i always go to the dojo to learn and practice combos and I just forgot.

I think you should do one of these on picking your support. There are more supports than characters, so it can be a bit overwhelming.
Thanks for this! I did play the tutorial but going over it again in this video and seeing it applied in an actual game is a huge help :)
So seeing you making a tutorial series is really helping.
shofu's determined as fuck to get pokken out there competitively
It's already confirmed for Evo
Thanks for the tips! I would love to see tutorials on what moves are good for setting up combos or just custom combo guides for various Pokemon.
*Part 3* was the most useful part in this video.
God bless you Shofu.
I played the tutorial yesterday and it left me feeling really overwhelmed so I appreciate your help!!
already finished the tutorial like an hour AGO AND I really saw an improvement on my gameplay
Young Shofu out here being Master Roshi with the tutorial
Top notch quality content in this video, thanks for the tips!
I don't nor ever will play this game, but I will always like these to support my boy shofu.
I swear, I see Shofu surpassing that Suicune, and becoming the best like no one ever was.
Two things: you're a great writer, and you have a fantastic reading voice.
Dunno why I found the little "boi" popping up at the end so funny.
Shofu being a brother here, helping out the newbs c: Looking forward to putting this into practice when my copy gets here!
Very informative, and equally professional. Easy to follow for newer players as well.
This is super helpful! I'm picking up the game tomorrow, so I'll make sure I play that damn tutorial.
Same, man
Lmaooo my man shofu sounded so proper in this compared to his other videos. Nice vid though Fren really informative.
You seem much more dedicated and motivated after the battle with THAT Suicune
Shofu is committing to this game I see, this vid was very well put together
I knew how to do this because I actually watched the tutorial but I do need to implement this more into my gameplay.
I played the tutorial but what I didn't know is tapping R to cancel instantly. I've been trying to do the input and messing up the timing constantly.
Thanks for this!

shofu, do you think you'll be playing Pokken at EVO?
This game is amazing so far
Thanks for the guide. It was nice to get some tips and this'll definitely help in the future.
Shofu sounding as classy and profession AF. hahaha. Keepin it real at the same time tho.
PLEASE shofu do just a few character tutorials:
-what can they do
-what kind of combos ar they able to pull off
That would b really cool 👍🏻👍🏻
You should do a video about partner pokemon and the strategies you can use with them and which fighters pair well with certain ones. I feel like they get overlooked by most players.
You're a better voice actor than any of the voiced humans in Pokken Tournament.
I can say that yes, I played the Tutorial !
This is some great advice so far though, but I'm hoping you'll go into other tips soon.
I've been playing Chandelure pretty exclusively, so I know she's a zoning type character. Alright, i'll concede... that "boi" got me there at the end
This was perfect! I was looking for a way too deal with zoners before jumping on ranked. I'm a hot head so I tend to get camped out easily in fighting games lol
Yup that counter cancel is gonna be very important to master online especially.
And now I'm holding out for that top level Pikachu guide XD
I think an in depth look at all characters needs to be done!
it's almost like shofu wanted to make a clearly explained tutorial video for newer players how dare he
Love this kinda vid please keep it up. I'm not to good at fighting games, but this is definitely one I would like to get into
hey shofu thanks a lot for this tutorial. I'm still fresh to the game and even after playing the tutorial, I still had so problems. Thanks to you, I can get serious with mix ups and combos. 😃
damn I love seeing this game. I hope the competitive scene takes off.
I'm so glad I did all the tutorials and extensively practiced the combo dojo, cuz now in the blue league I'm an unstoppable monster (almost red league now)
+Eeveelution1 You can literally spam your way to victory against every AI opponent.
+First Last I tired that against shadow mewtwo...my punishment was planetary destruction.
Eeveelution1 Yeah, he's a bit trickier. Still works partly at least.
This game ended up not being a one trick pony after all. There's actual depth. I'm impressed.
MY BOY SHOFU ACTING ALL PROFESSIONAL, OKAY, I SEE YOU BIG DOG
Great Video. Countering is a problem i have in Pokken. Need more practice.
Dude, this game is so much fun! I finally feel like I am doing something productive with my life! :D Thank you for this sort of video Shofu!
+Ceruliver ya me to totally

Maybe go over recommended stat spreads for each Pokemon? Great vid though!
Shofu sound like his moms was in the room watching him record.

I need this game so much.
THE INFOMERCIAL SHOFU THE NEW SHOFU
pokken is so fun!!! loving the new dlc...cant wait for more dlc pokemon
Damn shofu being the TmarTn of Pokken
Shofu could you release a list of the characters in order of strength, why why? Like a video with top 16 pokken characters and like a 3 minute explanation with why they're good and bad. It would be really cool and I don't think anyone's done something like this
You really are becoming the ZeRo of this game!!! So a lot of people have been wondering....
Suggestion for the next episode: optimal time to activate synergy burst in different situations
This was excellent. Some of your best work. Considering buying a wii-U
Thanks shofu... I was too excited to start so I skipped the tutorial 😫🙌
This boy shofu soundin' like a 90's fitness video
shofu got the content.
Got the game yesterday and I'm loving it! Thank you for the great tutorial Shofu! Pokken's FADC. =D (Ryu main in Smash)
Thnx, I forgot about dash canceling the counter. I haven't played online yet, I've only played the tutorial and green league, I don't plan to play online, until I unlock everything in the game.
Ayyy, our boy out here being straight up sensei :3
Wow, this is almost exactly like the Focus system in SF4. Seems this game has more depth to it than I gave it credit for.
shofu out here shitting on zero now, glad you got your revenge from smash
So I just picked up the game and played the tutorials, all of them, but it was a lot to take in and so, it's quite easy to forget especially when getting in a fight. Remembering to counter, grab and block plus the combos how to camp out opponents, the spacing of every attack how to get in using allies. The inputs may be simple but god damn is the execution hard. So anyways thanks for these extra tutorial.
THIS MAN SHOFU LITERALLY FORGOT TO ADD THAT COUNTERS CAN BE BROKEN BY piercing attacks.
Shofu put the smack down on zero XD
THE RUSH HOUR SMASH OF POKKEN
That was corny as hell, but super effective. Keep it up, shof'!
SHOFU!!!! Talk about the Electric Wind God Fist (Blue Forward + Weak) for Pikachu
He posts this after Zero took a game off him in his second set
AH! there we go that's what I was missing! thanks for the tips can't wait to see more hope! hope one day I'll be high rank enough to play against you xD
I'm getting the game tomorrow so this will help thx shofu
Shofu could I suggest covering wall game, I know for me that I get trapped near the walls online a lot, and find myself letting my opponent escape easily when I get them near the walls.
if you've played street fighter 4 then you'll be familiar with counter attacks. Its pretty much the same thing as focus attack
loved the editing
and what's also good is that CADC CAN be punished with Grabs, they start to use it too much.
I wish Smash could've learned from this.
+MarcsterS In what way? If somebody spams something in Smash, it's easy to punish it also.
So basically Shofu is going to be the ZeRo of Pokkén, I really think that this game has the potential to become the same or even more huge than Smash competitively.
dang, Pokken is waaay more complicated than I thought! Hope i can get good at it
Can you make a video outlining the health and health regeneration system, along with supports that restore health?
Although I played the tutorials extensively lol I also carry the memory of a disabled Magikarp haha! I'm gonna need to some practice with CADC. I feel it'll help my Charizard out immensely. :)
I've been playin all day and the controls are a lot to remember if you're not use to fighting games 😩
