  • The year 1959 is considered by most to be THE quintessential year of the "Golden Age" of Gibson electrics for myriad reasons, but the quick version is that they just got everything right. 1959 examples of nearly every electric guitar Gibson offered are generally the most valuable and collectable of any production year, and this ES-335 is truly a "Grail" guitar that exemplifies everything that made 1959 such a magical year for Gibson. The neck profile is an incredibly comfortable soft "C," measuring at .834" at the 1st and .954" at the 12th fret. Spend 5 minutes playing on this neck and you'll understand what all the fuss is about-it's simply one of the most comfortable neck shapes you'll ever play. The original PAF humbucking pickups are simply the stuff of legend. There is nothing that comes close to a well-matched set of PAFs pushing the front end of tube amp. They snarl, they bite, they can absolutely bludgeon, yet they also can be the softest, sweetest thing you've ever heard. It can do anything from traditional jazz to R&B, from classic blues to country, and absolutely roars as a rock machine going through a high gain tube amp or fuzz pedal. It's truly one of the most versatile instruments Gibson ever made.
