    *The key change from the video is that the DMV now advises always making an appointment; otherwise, you'll need to stand in the non-appointment line for walk-ins.*
    The Express Experience mentioned in the video was initiated by the DMV during the pandemic when in-office appointments were scarce. Although the DMV no longer promotes this express service, you can still upload documents online during the REAL ID application before your DMV visit, to streamline the process. Whether you upload documents during the online application or not, you must bring the physical documents to the DMV to complete the application process. Making an appointment is recommended for access to a shorter line.
    DMV REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR DRIVERS LICENSE ::: Part 2 of our 5-part series where we’ll hold your hand and walk you through the ENTIRE DMV permit process, start to finish. Instructor Liz will give you a detailed breakdown of everything you need to do to earn a learner's permit, from taking drivers education and dealing with the DMV, all the way to passing your knowledge test and what you need to do after you take home your permit.

    Is it mean that if I bring a 2D form with my legal guardian and notarize, so I can come to the DMV alone ( I am under 18 years old ) ?

    I don’t know if I’ll get a response in here, but I just want to say that now that I am over 18, I want to apply for a driver license, knowing that I need the instructional permit first. However, I am worried if I can pursue the process online when I have a Real ID on hand when I just want to apply for the permit? I AM SO CONFUSED

      Hello! If you are over 18, just make an appointment at the DMV... there should be a screen during the appointment making process that asks you the reason for your visit to the DMV. You want to select "drivers license", then you should be good to go! If you are not sure, an easy way to get help is using the "Ask DMV" feature on the DMV website, it's very easy and a live person will help you. Here's what you do:
      1) Go to www.dmv.ca.gov/
      2) Click "Ask DMV" link on the bottom of the screen
      3) In the question box, type "rep"
      You can then speak to a DMV agent over chat and they can answer your question with 100% accuracy. This option is actually pretty fast. Hope that helps!!

      Hello, yes a medical document should help you establish residency, though you need two residency documents for a real ID. Here is a helpful tool that helps you make sure you have the right docs: www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/driver-licenses-identification-cards/real-id/real-id-checklist/
      Here's a list of valid residency docs, just make sure you have 2 of them - hope this helps!!
      • Home utility bill or cellular phone bill (Preferred)
      • Records from any state or national bank, state or federal savings association, trust company, industrial loan company, state or federal credit union, or any institution or entity that has issued a credit card
      • Insurance documents, including medical, dental, vision, life, home, rental or vehicle
      • Medical documents

      Tax return (either Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) Faith-based document that includes the name and address of organization)

      • School documents issued by a public or private primary, secondary, or post-secondary institution, college, or university that includes the applicant's date of birth. If I am over 18 and only applying for Driver License but not Real ID, is that ok if I only have a least agreement? Seems the DMV Website said I have to prepare two proof of residence. Thank you

    • @DriversEdDirect
      @DriversEdDirect  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hello! If you are applying for a standard Driver's License and not a REAL ID license, then you only need one residency document. You can check if the residency document you have is accepted by going here and filling out the short DMV questionnaire: www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/driver-licenses-identification-cards/real-id/real-id-checklist/

    How do I make a appointment at the dmv and why ?? What if they just do it right then and there

    • @DriversEdDirect
      @DriversEdDirect  Год назад

      Hello! Making an appointment can save you time and help insure that you don't get turned away at the DMV if they are too busy. If you just show up to the DMV, you'll have to wait in the longer line for those without appointments, which can sometimes take hours depending on the DMV and time of day. Check out part 1 for info about making an appointment: ruclips.net/video/a93xj6SbhIE/видео.html
      Hope that helps!

    Online websites say to bring ur ss card what if u can’t find/don’t have yours

    • @DriversEdDirect
      @DriversEdDirect  Год назад

      Great question! According to the official Social Security website, they say this: If you lost your card, you may not need a replacement. In most cases, simply knowing your Social Security number (SSN) is enough. But, if you do need a replacement, you can complete your application online or in-person.
      Check out this link on the Government's official SS site for more help on getting a new SS card: faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-02017#:~:text=The%20easiest%20way%20to%20request,the%20best%20way%20to%20apply.

    What would you recommend when someone is in their 20s but has never had a drivers license, permit, and doesn't know how to drive. Of course take driving classes but what other advice or tips can you give? To get it all started and get my drivers license asap

    • @DriversEdDirect

      Hello! Really the #1 thing you can do besides learning the rules of the road is getting behind the wheel and practicing. I know it seems obvious, but the more hours you spend behind the wheel practicing, the better you will become. It's very similar to playing a new instrument or sport - it will be more challenging at first, but the more repetitions you get, the easier the basics become and then you can really start focusing on building driving skill. Here are some tips to help you get more comfortable with the basics:
      - Start out practicing in wide open, empty parking lots where you can focus on the mechanics of driving without having to worry about other traffic and pedestrians. Don’t go out onto streets until you are comfortable using the brake, accelerator, and making smooth turns.
      - When you practice, always have a seasoned driver with your who can provide encouraging feedback in a calm, patient way. Ideally, you want someone who coaches or mentors you, not someone who is really anxious or angry when you make mistakes.
      - This may sound odd but try going to a place with go-karts or golf carts. Even though driving a car is much more complex, we notice that many of our teenage students who have previously driven go-karts, riding lawn mowers, or golf carts are at an advantage vs true beginners. These students already have a basic understanding of how to accelerate, brake, make turns, etc. The transition to a real car is easier for them because they already have developed some of the required basic motor skills.
      Of course, taking professional driving lessons is great too, especially because driving schools have knowledgeable licensed instructors and their training cars have dual controls that allow them to take control of the vehicle in an emergency.
      Hope that helps!

      @@DriversEdDirect thank you this helped so much. But as far as the California dmv is asking me to take a permit exam. Can I take the permit exam and take the driving test later on once I get better. Do I take permit classes? Or in school training? Since I'm over 18. Do they ask for all of that?

    • @DriversEdDirect
      @DriversEdDirect  Год назад +1

      @@angelmarie37 Hello again! Because you are over 18, then you can make an appointment at the DMV to take the written exam and obtain an instruction permit first... you don't have to take your driving test until you are ready to. Also, you are not required to take drives ed classes or training if you are an adult. To see what is required for those over 18, you can go here: www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/driver-licenses-identification-cards/instruction-permits/ and click on "To apply for a California Instruction Permit (over age 18), you must:" - this gives you the list of exactly what you need to do. You can only have 1 REAL ID at a time so if you have a REAL ID ID card and do not mind your DL as non compliant then you do not have to do anything. If you wish to have a REAL ID DL and have a REAL ID ID card you must surrender your REAL ID card and have the tech change it to non compliant so you can have a REAL ID DL. Bring any documents since you are having to start over.
