Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover Black Flag Nervous Breakdown Live At The BBC Television Centre Special Top Of The Pops Concert Stadium Arcadium Free Secret Gig 2006 HD High Definition HQ High Quality 1080p
You people have no idea what's going on, do you? In the 80s Kiedis once missed a show, and Keith Morris filled in for him. Because he didn't know the lyrics he improvised and fucked up the songs. This was not meant to be a ''serious cover'' and of course they WERE NOT trying to mock Black Flag, they did it reference to this one show they had with Keith, because Nervous Breakdown is KEITH'S SONG. If you badass hardcore punks wanna hate 'em, hate ' em but I'm just sayin' that Keith remains a friend of Kiedis up to this day...
+Drexl Spivey This, and it's pretty common for the Chili Peppers to randomly break into a cover song or one of their old songs for a few seconds live. It's improv and it's cool.
Finally someone with a brain, your kind is very rare nowadays
its a black flag song dumbass
Subcomandante Marcos Vamvakaris it still doesn’t mean this modern cover is pretty bad.
A lot of people know the silly peppers came up through punk rock. But a lot of people did that and now make rather ordinary covers of known punk and Jc songs.
I bet like 5 people in that crowd knew where that song came from.
There’s no way
Punk is less a genre than an idea. Punk is about freedom of creativity and expression, about making music that you love. That's the philosophy of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Punk is a subculture and music genre. Falser words have never been spoken
As short played as this was, I'm putting it on replay because one of my favorite bands playing one of my favorite punk bands songs and it's just a good mix. Plus they killed it
By playing this song they are paying homage to their roots. They love Black Flag.
those normies didn't know their poppy chili peppers used to be punk funk
Chris Uresti yeah men he used to be a very hardcore punk funk band in the 80s, they play very well all hardcore stuff!!!!
amén
goddammit i would kill to hear them play full version
Now you can ! Without killing anyone...
Yes it is originally by Black Flag.
punk is more than a genre, is always present 🤘🏻
to the person who said they fucked this up...they didn't rehearse it or pratice it. They just played it on the spot. It was the first time in years they played it. They played in a few times back in the mid 80s and this 06 performance was the first time since 1998. Anthony tends to forget lyrics to his own songs too.
they just missed it, it can happen to every great band ; this is not serious. There was a good mood, it wasn't a serious cover, marketed or released as a single. It was just a jam; meeeeeeen !!
BLACK FLAG !!!!
fucking awesome!
Red Hot Chili Peppers - OG rap!
Not like they rehearsed it. Seems just a spontaneous jam
@HoosierMF This is where we have to go as far as calling you ignorant. Frusciante plays for millions of dollars, go check him out.
@HoosierMF It was a retaliation as you said, but it was also a retaliation in a way that they never thought they'd be able to play like the 'giants' of their day and so rather than endlessly practice their instruments before starting the band, the ideology was that anybody could be in a band, whether you could play or not. In early punk rock, a lot of them picked up instruments just to be in a band. A good example of this would be Sid Vicious, who had never touched an instrument before joining.
@HoosierMF You do realise the whole idea of punk was that you didn't have be able to play right?
spontaneously and cool :)
@HoosierMF I don't feel like starting shit with an obvious troll but, you are incorrect.
The red hot chili peppers used to be a very hardcore punk funk band in the 80s, they play very well all hardcore stuff!!!! They used to play with many hc bands, like black flag, bad brains, dead kennedys, fear
they should retry this they covered it well sound wise
S2 FUCKING AMAZING!!!
isn't this song made by black flag?
;D love it
Play it at 0.75 and you've got the original song ahah
@HoosierMF I'm talking about in general, not the cover. Even so, if he didn't do the cover because people would of thought weird of him doing a punk song, would of been against the idea 'punk' more so than him doing it...
Yes. Frank, Anthony and Tim fuckin' killed the vox and all three did it true enough to the original without just playing the same damn thing Black Flag did. I love what Lags (of Gallows) did for the guitar riff.
I won't dispute the origin of it, for as far as I know, you're completely right. But even so, genres change, and sub-genres kick in. Just look at rap and hip-hop. It used to be about expressing oneself and sharing ideas. Now it's mostly about sex, drugs, and money. For the most part. There's still tons of underground rap that's true to it's roots. There's tons of punk artists that are all about truth: RATM, Fugazi, hell, even Green Day. Music in general is about creativity and expression.
@senorpeyote I do agree with you to some extent, which is why I've always preferred hardcore punk rock because it was even more punk rock than punk rock; it rid of all the bullshit entirely.
funny to see the kids here are furious because rhcp didnt play their "favourite" song perfect. This is only a cover and they use to do alot of punk covers since the 80s. Their music and attitude was in the 80s also very inspired by the punk scene, and Flea used in 2001 era. having stickers of punk bands like Ramones, Black Flag, Cirkle Jerks etc on his bass.
why the fuck they didn't play all the fucking song?
0:35 :) John
56 hipsters not know where flea comes from...
@FooFighterFix I agree with everything you said in this, but I greatly dislike the Sex Pistols reference... Seeing as how they were put together to market the fashion line, and Sid Vicious "looked" more punk rock than the bass player you actually hear on their recordings, I feel like the Sex Pistols were more of a corporate (for lack of a better term) "making the band" deal like MTV used to do, than an actual punk movement. But like I said, I agree with you on everything but that small detail :)
@HoosierMF Oh fantastic retort, because Greg Ginn was never a pothead
@ToxicAntony Amen! Wish I could say the same. I spend 9 hours a day (minimum) not doing what I want.
That's what it's about to be.
@HoosierMF Nevertheless, doing what they want > not doing what they want.
@HoosierMF If he's playin' what he wants, he's playing 'punk'
He did back in the 80s. They were called FEAR.
@HoosierMF Well what is the whole idea of punk rock then?
@kakeselger wait what no he dosent
Bahahahaha
LOL, they fucked it up, still love them though
c'mon people, flea was an punk rocker and pure hardcore band F.E.A.R
FLEA HAD A SHIRT!! O_O
I heard flea used to be in a punk band.
FLEA!
@HoosierMF I do hope you're a troll.
i say 90%.
The first 3 seconds into that video I thought that Danzig had lost weight. Now back to watching OFF!...
LOL good answer XD
holy shit chad @ 00:41
Great choice in Bad Religion, very sound and honest guys. Did you know they support Rise against and that they're passing the torch down to them? Rise Against just got more popular and it's probably due to Bad Religion. Any band with a positive message should get big. They only have three gold albums, it's not like they're snorting coke off hooker's asses. Punk is not to stay underground but is known to always be in the minority. Once it truly hit the mainstream the world will be a better place
wow a.k is deafer than me at age 15
@JEH78 So what? They fucked up a song that's really hard to fuck up.
flea... shirt... NO WAY!
oh man.
I love RHCP, and I also love Black Flag.. but this cover is so bad.
"It's going berserk."
Very good idea, hide the punk rock message from people with no information. ¬¬"
Punk CAN be mainstream, but this is kinda impossible, 'cause i don't know any "mainstream" band with no label record.
And this fucking industry makes great part of bands that were good and with attitude in the past seem and sound like shit!
So, in my opinion, this is not what the punk rock want.
If punk could reach more peolple, revolution could be a reality.
But it's just my opinion.
Sick cover lol
" If I don't find a way out of here" ? When will you learn ? There is no way out of here ! Keep the line moving. And remind the person in front of you not to use up too much hot water. When it was fashionable you excepted the four bar code with glee ! Now that the ink's faded and the numbers are blurred; you can't say you're with the band anymore. So just pay the price they're asking at the door or procure legal services to carry the soap in for you. But , please, take you shower like a man
がんばれチャド。
why are you?
Leur meilleur morceau....Merde c'est pas a eux
To everyone saying, "Why don't they play the whole thing?!" or to the douchebags who say they shouldn't cover punk.... /watch?v=ik-ZSMva1_c behold.
why are you even here then?
0:48 under the bridge?
Someone want's to be Iggy Pop
No you butchering the song with your pop voice
What the fuck was that.
At least its not as bad as when they did "Maggies Farm"
lol couldent even finish it
Are you aware that RHCP' bassist was in Fear? All the members were a part of the punk rock scene and carried that attitude through their first few albums. Rise Against are as punk as any other punk band. Punk is more about lyrics than the music. You have the Gun Club, Circle Jerks and Minutemen. They all sound different musically, but they were the most punk bands out there doing what they want to do and sending a message that they world isn't as pretty as the mainstream artists say it is.
4 people have no idea of great jams! :P
This is not what I was expecting at all
disagree....its a genre bud and it never set out to be about freedom of creativity or expression.....was a reaction to 70's guitar rock with 30 minute guitar solo's and was mainly about girls, cars, and food. Then sub-genre's kicked in and became about everything else. Real original food is about girls and food hahaha, my kinda shit
real original punk i mean....like the dictators and the ramones....or the dead boys
stooges...
Pistols
Ok, can be true, but that still doesn't make this a good cover jaja
61 people not understand the fucking old school songs!. Sorry I speak little English.
meh, another poppy cover of a classic.
killed a perfectly good song.
jesus christ wtf is this.
This is pretty horrible...
haha horrible
pathetic. completely.
They ruined this song
