- BMW X4 is a SAC - Sports Activity Coupe. Or in layman's terms an X3 with a falling roofline. However BMW claims X4 has more standard equipment, and sportier handling. In order to prove this point the Germans sent me to South Carolina, where BMW makes most of their SUVs. How does the new BMW X4 handle on the track and on the road?

Hope you enjoyed your trip to South Carolina. The humidity is quite high and combined with high temperatures can be a handful if your body is not acclimated.
I used to live in the Middle East. I'm used to hot and humid. I was in the US less than than two days. Great food, nice people. Maybe one day I'll go to the US for a roadtrip, like I did in Canada.

Haha, you were in SOUTH Carolina, not North Carolina (11:03). Also, while BMW may have offered you a boring test drive loop, there are, in fact, fantastic driving roads in the mountains just west of your location. But, welcome to the U.S.! Great review and did you know you have big fans here in the States, also.
I think I was in both. Landed in Charlotte, slept in Greenville, and Spartanburg is somewhere in the middle.
Yes, we go to the hills in the end. Just in time to turn back, because someone miscalculated the route :)

If you’re driving the X4 M40i, how come we don’t see the panoramic sunroof? Thought the panoramic sunroof is meant to be standard on the X4 M performance versions.
I'm driving X4 M40d. If there's an M40i in the cutaways, it's stock footage.
Love the new tail light. But I thought SAC should have frame less door?
Probably not good for chassis rigidity.
I totally agree. This new generation is way more handsome thanks to this new rear end. Frameless doors would have been a very nice touch, Maserati Levante and audi Q8 have it.
Marek Drives you sure about that? The Maserati Levante has frameless door and no one has ever said anything about “chassis rigidity”. Same goes for the Lamborghini Urus with frameless doors.
+Central Lifestyle Fair point. I'll ask about that next time I meet someone in charge of chassis design. I suspect it's a matter of cost vs. client needs. Levante is a perfect example, where they could skip frameless doors and do something with the interior :)
Urus is just expensive, so frameless doors don't make much of a difference.
