Admiral John Tovey about Bismarck: "The had put up a most gallant fight against impossible odds worthy of the old days of the Imperial German Navy and she went down with her colours flying." And the U-boats only left survivors under orders, much as the Americans and Japanese did as well.
Well if England was never conquered by the Normans you would be able to since English is Germanic but the Normans conquered England also an example of it is Cow and Beef. Cow is Anglo (German) and Beef is French Rainshade is Anglo and Umbrella is Italian So English is a Germanic language with Romance in it. Written English has more Romance (Latin) roots in it but spoken English has more German in it.
