      So true. Winston is probably better than 95% of the people watching and gets completely demolished by Govind. But he would most likely lose emphatically to a top 100 player, who would consistently lose to a top 10 player, who would lose against a top 3 player...and then there's the Djokovoc-Nadal-Federer-level...that's how far they are from normal people.

    Short balls are so tough vs much better players. Deeper behind the baseline than normal so need to run further to get up to it, and so much pressure to not give him a look at a pass. Besides those two short ball misses and the bh volley, I legit dont know what you could have done differently, you played pretty damn well, and all 3 of those points would have been difficult to finish vs him. Another great vid. S/O to govinder, love the fact pros are willing to come play with you. We love to see it. One crazy difference I noticed in this video, Winston, you're clearly more fit than like 75% of the population, and you're very quick and fast around the court. But govinder barely looks like he's trying to chase the ball, I dunno how to explain it, it's like the pros predict based on what the likely shot is but also wait until the contact to move. Idk, I still suck at tennis and have always struggled reading the ball, the pros you play, just seems different the way they move. Keep up the great work!!

    • @lukeoldfield7940
      @lukeoldfield7940 Год назад +3

      Better players track the ball better, so make decisions quicker and react faster. Winston is pretty quick, but doesn't read the flight of the ball as well, so hesitates more before moving. Also better players have better footwork, so more efficient and precise movement, better balance and are much less flat footed, so weight transference into movement happens faster. All these little things add up to a big difference in 'speed' on court.

    Govind a ridiculously excellent player. Remember I got out of juniors and raised my own level, then played a co-worker of a family member, who was top six hundred. Killed me. Same as another player, son of a teacher that got to top 450, who killed me with minimal effort. I was serving big too and it was easy for them! I remember at my best coming up against a top 20 in nation and he also killed me. They just play at a much higher level: their strategy is superior, their consistency is really high and their match toughness is really high.
    You have to be able to hang with them. I'd have lost 6-0 6-0 even being spotted 40 per game and a point, or two! If I were spotted 30 per game Govind would have, possibly, played either a perfect set or two and beaten me. Again: my game is good and it would have broken down against, and picked apart by, someone of this caliber. Even if I went for broke on first and second serves Govind would have figured me out quick. He's just at a whole other level.

    First of all Winston you played great. Considering you are 4.5 and facing a ATP Pro, you managed to return shots and despite the score I personally feel you hung in there and put up a fight. I am not sure if this idea will be something useful, only you can decide, but maybe ask your opponent at the end for some tips on how you can improve your strokes, game, strategy etc. You do not necessarily have to include that in your video but I think since you are playing so many high level players, use their knowledge to advance your own tennis journey.

    Your net game is still a bit suspect, but that’s understandable considering that your style of play is to win from the backcourt.
    All of us amateurs, playing against each other, get away with too many non penetrating shots. Pros make us pay dearly every time we don’t do something meaningful.

    I liked your comments at the end, Winston, trying to figure out how always seemed to have extra time to get the better of you. In the end, it comes down to something very basic for serving and receiving each... Govind can hit the ball much harder and with consistency. And when he's receiving, he can predict the physics of your momentum and his opportunity better than you can his. The result of these superior skills from him mean that you are usually going to be off balance and barely able to just get your racquet on it, while he has all the time in the world to hit strong shots. In the few cases where you pulled off heavier shots or out-predicted him, you won the points. I wouldn't focus on some complex mystery about why he's beating you. You just need to work on your serves, ground strokes and to a lesser degree your prediction until you can hit as hard as him with as much consistency. Then things will balance out.

    At 4:26 should have followed that in for a volley and would have won the game.... Looking good Winston!

    can someone explain the main reason why he's able of smashing so many winners in comparison as if he was playing against a pro? Is it mostly that the USTA guy is sending easy balls, or is it mainly poor footwork and the ball isn't actually going that fast? iI've compared side by side this match with a court level Sinner vs Carlos match and the winners this pro guy hits look a lot faster than half of the rallies in that Sinner match, that is something i've noticed a lot when you compare two pros against each other and a pro vs a lower level player. Thanks for anyone who takes the time to respond! cheers
