When T1 picks senna, I know they are gonna pop off. It is the perfect pick for them as it enables Keria to get as much gold as a laner while not sacrificing much for ADC

it's not just the stage games, but also the players themselves are getting targeted and ddosed in solo q. it's bad enough they have to deal with griefers and betters. 100% a terrible situation for the players and the LCK
at the moment korea is getting hit with DDOS attacks starting with streamers across platforms all the major streamers are getting DDOS attacks whenever they are playing a game or if they are streaming some event. its started with league streamers then went across different categories and then pro league gamers and just recently the LCK. it is also known that the DDOS attacker was watching the streams live and was fucking with the streamers

I wonder if that's somehow related to twitch being forced out of Korean market due to insane prices ISPs were charging

Korean Cybersecurity in itself is a joke. It's really outdated and needs a lot of improvements but they still rely on things like Direct X and C language. Though it can be said the same for Japan, it's just in general something that always being joked around as their banks or some random company would always have news about some data breach because they didn't want to take on new technology or better options.

I took networking and cyber classes and it’s perfectly accurate
DoS stands for Denial of Service and DDoS is Distributed Denial of Service. The main difference is that with a DDoS attack there are multiple sources causing the attack (but could be controlled by the same person). The boat example is pretty accurate w/o getting too complicated (I.E who owns the boats, who's driving them, etc.)
@@christophera2534 I'm just confused how they can impact a game being played over LAN. A ddos attack that effects the stream sure but the stream is fine and the games are affected. Wouldn't that suggest the attack is coming from inside?

@@evancarlson8334 the technology for full LAN doesn't exist. they play on a private server called tournament realm. so they can play from remote, I believe they use it for scrims too. This is not an offline event. League never had that.

can someone enlighten me on why lck or all the top leagues not having an off the grid tornament server that only connects to the internet if there is an update? as a layman this seems like a common sense and should have been done a few years ago
Ddos attacks target IP addresses by overloading them with downloads. Having a separate server wouldn’t solve the problem because they could just ddos that server as well

@@lchn12345678 i've heard two theories as to why they don't have lan, both are basically two sides of the same coin:
- the lck has refused to pay the money for a lan environment, maybe they think they lack the time to implement it, or maybe they think that they don't need it (cyber security in east asian countries is notoriously bad). i've heard that the tournament realm that they currently used is also needed for replays and chronobreaks and stuff
OR
- riot refuses to provide a lan server for the lck stage either cuz they believe that it'd be too expensive or they wouldn't have direct access to the server at any time and in their eyes, that could pose a risk to "match integrity" or whatever

Can anyone explain why some folks aren't starting with support items? I've seen it even outside of Senna TK but it's hard to look up why.
support item charges even when not bought. so first they buy dorans for stronger lv 1, then they go back when the sp item is already at 3 charges.

Nice lay offs, this big of a company and tournament, and do not have manpower to deal with it, just a "fix" to turn down the situation.
Nothing to do with man power, there aren't people manually blocking all incoming IPs. One, two, three or 20, doesn't matter how many men you have when are getting ddosed. One man could have fixed this issue in less than an hour with proper cyber security infrastructure.
Lacking that 1 man still means lacking in "man power".
Even if there was no layoffs. They would have still gotten Ddos. This year cyber attack has increased and they have also up their game.

Motivation could be anyone's guess but I used to DDos CSGO tournaments years ago for 2 reasons.
1. It was fun, we did it with a group of online friends on TeamSpeak. It was fun to watch CS pros start slowly lagging one after another until the servers completely crash. CSGO tournaments always used and still use completely garbage servers because the game doesn't need much to run 10 players in a CSGO match.
2. It was the rise of betting on pro games, so I obviously ddosed games where I was about to lose money. In all the times I did it, believe me, I felt bad for the players at least a little bit. But anyway, when a team I bet on started losing I would completely crash the server they were playing on so they HAD to remake. I didn't do it all the time obviously.
Back when CSGO first launched, Steam had P2P voice calling. So when I played CSGO ranked and started losing, all I had to do was click on the enemy's best player profile, start a call with him while scanning for his IP, cancel the call and take him offline. Once had to take 3 different opponents offline because my team was so dogshit they couldn't even win 4v5.
also for ransom, like you pay up or I'll clog your network forever. I doubt that's the case here tho.

senna + corki plot armor is unbeatable
You can prevent a DDOS by setting up a DHCP at the on site location and having it change its IP. You can also use a layered vpn on top to make it more secure
yep it can do that, the problem is the tournament realm has a fix IP and thats the sad part, the only thing they can do is Block the attacker thats all, Unless riot have to create a client that's only for lan but tournament realm also, that's the best idea but THIS INDIE COMPANY doesnt want to do it

@@alecpavlik6821 They cant do that, because when ur getting attacked by a ddos is u just to defend and fend off that attacker, if u change IP while in the middle of the match, that match is void, LCK is just fending off the attacker, but one more problem, once LCK fend off that attacker and blocks it, another one will attack cause the attacker's pattern is changing and LCK cant do anything about it cause the attacker's IP cant be traceable because of how they change IP everytime they get fend off

There is no such thing as completely securing against a ddos, the best you can do is divert it. Why are you even commenting about the ddos if you have no clue about networking big man? Yes you can set up all kinds of security layers but they all activate after you have already been hit with the ddos. Fighting against a ddos completely depends on the size of the botnet ddoser is using. So either the IT crew backstage is completely retarded or it's a sizable botnet. Security measures can start blocking incoming malicious IPs but they also have to recognize malicious IPs from the regular ones. When you are getting hit with 1000 ips a millisecond, it's a tall task.
What they should have in large stadiums built for esports is a closed LAN connection, certified by RIOT. So nothing outside of lolpark can connect to their game servers.
