I found them totally by mistake while searching on the Web a while ago. It's this that gave me the idea for doing the video in the first place because I saw the potential for error in it. So while it's quick quick easy I don't recommend using that method in most instances as unless can measure cleanly to start. I didn't think it would work tbh but it was certainly close when I did get accurate start measurements.
You can measure inner diameter with calliper's beaks.
I found my vernier guage too long to do this as when opened they hit the inside of the rim. If this is what you mean? 😊👍
