Obviously there are many different styles of martial arts. For the people who dislike the video, or say timing is off, altered kata. As a an athlete i am sure you would agree that it would have taken countless hours to perfect such technique and they all do have great technique. Inspiring technique. So if you can't respect the athleticism then i would find it hard to see you as an athlete. Thank you for the upload.

The problem with sport bunkai is that it must be spectacular. Sense, realism - secondary importance. In fact this is not bunkai. This is free variation based by the kata. But it is not bad. I agree with Leigh-Jay: at competitions we should respect athleticism. Must be rules! In this times karate is going to sport. Hard to say why. Money? Measurable result? I think this is not good way, rather dead-end street. I prefer idea that karate-do is the zen in motion, way for self-improving, health, efficiency, long life etc.

Screw that. I prefer that it had remained simply a way to kill your enemies. Guess we're all disappointed, huh?

@KARATEbyJesse - ah mate, you got me curious now! What did he do? After seeing this video I'm now convinced that my suparinpei doesn't contain nearly enough spinning jump kicks. I'm going to spend the day wearing my orange dogi, fixing this problem!

Les salio muy bonito pero donde esta el bunkai de suparimpei? Realmente si hay mucho trabajo aqui, pero por que cambiar el sentido de un kata tan hermoso ?

Well said, I respect them for there skill. I might say it's not real karate, the bunkai seemed more "here are some fancy tricks, slide them into kata than anything of value", but I sure as shit can't do any of that

maybe i'm just too inexperienced but i often fail to see how the bunkai relates to the kata in these events. great performance nontheless

Not my cup of tea at all, but I have to admit to being pretty impressed at some of their tricks.

Very nice for Sport Karate. But as a traditionalist I must say I do not like the Theatrical performances. At 1:08 Kata altered, as well as at 2:38, 2:40 perhaps grounds for a very low score.

a conundrum: disliking this video for the sport karate, or liking it for the laughs it gave me?
actually, nvm, i just saw the ground roundhouse kick. i'm just gonna go over there and cry a little :p

Tres spectaculaire beaucoup de travaille en ca c est respectable, en revanche c est censé etre le bunkai et on ne reconnais le kata a aucun moment c est beau mais hors sujet dommage

It is a competitive kata, obviously they have to show off, they don't necessarily have to kill themselves

  • @HumanityWillPrevail
    @HumanityWillPrevail 11 месяцев назад

    Just nope.
Kata order is correct but timing, breathing, no mushimi - all change the meaning. The oyo is just theatre and has little to do with the Kata.
Impressive collective timing which no doubt has required many hours of practice to achieve it. But this is theatre, performance art and entertainment.
It’s not true martial arts to me but I’m sure all the screaming and jumping about appeals to some.
    It’s jimi vs hade.

Well, yet again wkf proves it's full of trash. Ancient combat knowledge of the okinawans waste here. I don't say that the performance was ill, but the bunkai is so way of track. Just a layman's opinion I guess. The point style of fighting is what led me to take up kyokushin abandoning goju ryu
