I started following God and digging into scripture almost 4 years ago and I just recently have noticed that I catch on to references here and there without having to look it up! It's so exciting and fun to the dots connect! But even when I do have to look it up or don't recognize something, I know I can look it up later if need be! Pretty cool :)
I am in early stage of my faith maturity; application, getting convictioned while reading (having to stop to repent), lightbulb moments when God speaks into my life or situation during my studying, cross-referencing, trying to understand the meaning of particular words from their original language, using study Bibles to help understand what is going on at the time, H-O-W-E-V-E-R anyone else gets anixtey when trying to dove into Revelations.. 😩#ThisTooShallPass.. LOL!! Keep up the good work Jon, TFS!! ❤
Another Awesome lesson! Keep up the great work Jon! It's crazy how God will help us understand the Word more when we make reading the Word a daily part of our life! He's shown me that the Old and New Testament rely on each other to help understand the big picture. The Bible isn't a fairy tale book with many stories that have no relation to one another. It is a full and complete story that, in order to understand fully, must be read cover to cover. It's like a movie, if you start watching it from the middle, you may understand some things that are going on, but you'll also miss important facts that help the viewer understand the main point of the movie! Keep being AWESOME Jon!
Good one! One thing I have realized is that cross references aren't all logged down. When people wanna looked for more, they're gonna have to search cause it's not all given to you. Google is perfect for that, so is bible gateway. There's also a program called theWord that's really useful for that.
Good stuff! A little advice on this concept of cross-referencing. When I was in Bible college, we talked about the concept of parallel passages, which is basically any passage aside from the one you are currently reading that discusses the same topic(s). Some parallels are more strict than others, but any reference to the same topic is considered a parallel passage. One of the simplest ways to find parallels is to go to a Bible search engine like Bible Gateway, enter the word(s) you want to search, then see where else in Scripture it pops up. That was exactly the same way I did it for my projects in college. Hope this idea helps someone that needs it.
Thanks! I find bible studies sometimes difficult to follow. You make it so simple yet really get the message across and help me look deeper into the bible. Just found ur channel through my church youth group and you are awesome!! Thanks again 🤗🤗
Hey Jon, thank you so so much for this video. I was browsing RUclips as usual when I felt this sudden urge to visit your channel - and I'm so glad I did, I think God was telling me to. This was the first time I visited your channel in a very long time. I noticed this video that was uploaded just 30 minutes ago and I decided to watch it and now I'm here typing this comment. I'm so grateful and thankful for God for making me rediscover this beautiful channel. God just gave you a new subscriber! Keep up the awesome work and God bless Jon 😄
