Dave everyone who watched this wants you to succeed. You did a great job. I liked your approach backoff and clear your head. Good luck 😊
Thanks. Andrews going to come down and give me a hand fixing it.
@@Dumpster_Dave great you did well on your more patients than I would have
Dont give up fix one thing at a time. The chemical clean of the clutches seemed to work great. The tougher the job the greater the reward when fixed. We all know different things and thats why we are all better together. If you dont ask you never get.
Been waiting this this video....Welcome back Dave!
Love "Blue's brother" keeping an eye on things from the background! Lol. Great tip about float! Thanks for vid!
That’s so aggravating to spend all that time, energy, and effort in to something and it quits running. I know what that feels like. I don’t have much patience with things like that. I’ve got equipment I need to fix but I keep putting off because I don’t care to deal with the grief of trouble shooting problems. Good luck Dave….Thank you for a great video, and I look forward to more👍
It quit after you backed up the hill. The carburetor float is probably misadjusted. Get it on flat ground and see if it starts. Don’t quit.
Carburetor???? Thougt it was a diesel…
@@BricoleurTV Is a Gasoline, diesel does not have carb, the sound also is not very diesely hahah
Thanks muchly for going into this machine as far as you have it at least gives people like myself a chance to see if you can get it going better than before
Maybe sucked up some crap when you ran out of gas. They make little strainers for the sediment bowls. Our 1010 had a rusty tank and would always suck up crap and block the inlet to the sediment bowl. Those carbs can be finicky too in my experience. Had to run it and adjust the main jet a few times. Also check out the distributor and make sure the mechanical advance is working fluidly. New subscriber and excited to see more on the 1010 and hopefully more about the 3010 you rescued.
We tried that on our john deere 350 loader and it didn't work, we took it apart and the clutches were all rusted together. We should have used Evaporust. We took both rear ends out and rebuilt them, painted the case insides reassembled them, and adjusted them equally. Now it turns on a dime, both sides are equal, and feels nice to drive. (67 JD 350 loader)
You went on an incline, and lack of gas stalled it.
Maybe the carb float level is not adjusted properly.
You should use a transparent fuel filter to see if you have dirt in it.
If you haven t noticed the Exhaust Flap is Open Dave
Keep up The Work :)
Andrew Camarata never had much luck with John Deere! Hope yours is better!!!!!!
I had a 1010 , put a zenneth style carb on it and it'll run way better .
I'll tell you what. That dozer pushed that heavy wet snow we just got pretty easily. I'm impressed on how you hauled the truck around the yard too. Good idea. Take a break from it for awhile. It's just a fuel issue. You'll figure it out in time. You got alot accomplished with changing the fluids etc. A little at a time. Funny part is, I brought the exact same battery at tractor supply for my Ford 641. They are 7 to 8 months old, but still new. Beats 139 bucks off sale any day. You've taken the seat off so many times, you might want to use wing nuts instead of bolts, haha! Keep it up. It's great content. I know it's frustrating, but you are making headway. Take care Scott.
Thanks. It’s either fuel or a spark issue
That blows, I was about to call you Dozer Dave 😅
Thanks for sharing I really enjoyed it ✌️❤️ from🏴
Hard luck Dave 🥲great try though, you really are a likeable fella Dave and also very hard working mate. I hope you get this fixed and think you will, you deserve to do so. On a different subject, I really do worry about your lungs given the amount of times you grind off rust and paint often with no dust mask, or eye protection either! We only get one pair of each so please take care mate🙏 good luck keep videoing your work, they are boss! Dave F Liverpool, UK👍🏻
I would stone all mating surfaces with sharping stone then check with straight edge get a bead blaster it will make parts new keep videos coming dude I like when you work with Andrew you make a great team and hello from Las Vegas millwrights 50 years experience rebuilding every thing .
Good ole points, condenser, coil and carb. When they work they work when they dont its only 4 points to diagnose lol
These are the more frustrating buys for sure. I think you almost got it. It didn't seem to fire off at all even with the starting fluid so I would double check spark. It cut out right after climbing the hill maybe when it rocked back it knocked loose a plug / coil wire.
Traditionally you're using the wrong lube on the track rollers. The Alemite button head fittings are for a track roller lube gun. It uses a semi-fluid roller lube which flows from the roller body through a hole to the bushings. Grease won't flow properly in that application.
Great job on flushing out the steering clutches for now 👍
Good to know
The Track rollers don't grease they use lube Dave. My 1951 IH T6 dozer uses the same setup
If you don't have the wico distributor then you can put a electronic module instead of points ,that would help too .
Thanks
Did you know that the engine in your Dozer has been replaced with a engine out of a wheel tractor? Engine are the same. I did the same thing with my 1010 diesel engine. The tractor engines are green. Got my engine from farmer John. Good video.
As usual great video
Thanks
You should have a Fuel Feed from Both ends of the Fuel Tank. One up front and one in the rear. I didn't notice whether or not that You have that Front Line on Your Machine. They were made this way for when You go uphill, the machine feeds fuel from the Rear Line. When You go downhill, the fuel should feed from the Front Line. This way if You have half a tank of fuel, the tractor will still run. There should be a Y-Fitting near the front of the Carburetor so that it can feed from either end. You could have that, I don't remember seeing it on the video. If You have the Front Line, You may want to take it off and see if it is Plugged, Crimped, Etc. I hope that this helps. P.S. After rewatching the video, it appears that someone has taken the Factory Metal Fuel Lines off and replaced them with a Nylon Tube and it looks like You're only feeding the carb from the Rear Fuel Tap.
If you’re spraying starting fluid and no start check for spark
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you Dave, maybe the diesel can not get out of the tank.
I got it running
Dave you rock😍😍😍😍😍😍
Good work, I saw a glimpse of your dog, he looks exactly like Andrew camaratas dog Blue.
Brothers
At least it quit running in a good parking spot. LoL
Yeah
Not sure if you have e85 in NY but it's cheap and really strips oils
That was super video can wat for the next video King regards buddy.
I would probably go back to the guy now and show him all the stuff he lied about and give him a bill for all the parts and labor
Thats what's so aggravating about gas powered equipment, the old stuff is super cool and when it runs right it is great but it doesn't take much to mess them up and ruin your day ,just sitting around not getting used with this crappy gas causes all kinds of problems so I park it running awesome go back to use it again after a couple months and bam I'm starting all over !!@
3/9/23; ..Great efforts on your gas Dozer..trying to make it work by carb clean/rebuild, which helped..but still not right! Your tank...is it all rusted, nasty inside? Or your lines...sucking air somewhere? Intermittently? Anxious for you to get past this & get pushing some dirt & hauling yur logs! Stay safe & carry on!🔧⚙️👍✅️👏👷🍺😊
Try some Lucus gear oil treatment might help I put it in my allis Chalmers hd 6 track loader it slowed the final drive leak down on mine
You really need to use a torque wrench and proper bolt tightening sequence to ensure you don’t crack intake manifold or stress bolts.
If that’s a old marvel carb like I think it is then they hate hills put it on flat ground and it will crank, as far as the clutches go u mite as well take it apart and do it rite, I kno u don’t want to but it will make good content so why not
Yeah it might be worth doing.
😊
Is that Andrew Camaratas old machine?
Yes it is. That's the main reason he shouldn't have bought it to work with. If Andrew sells it that means it's no good.
@@robbieeades1956
So when Dave was dissing the former owner, he was dissing Andrew?
@Mike O'Neill no Andrew sold it a few years back. Dave bought it from another man selling it. He was not dissing Andrew.
@robbie eades
Thanks for clearing that up, much appreciated 👍
@@robbieeades1956 Thank you for reminding us of that, I forgot that he tracked the dozer down and bought it off someone else unrelated to Andrew. I was trying to wrap my head around why the Andrew would screw over the friend that gave him Blue.
I don't mean to be a bad commenter but wouldn't it pay to put fuel in before you start . Not to be negative.
I’m not sure if it ran out of gas. I think it’s got to do with the float
Nice! It does look like it was working better. Let me know if you want any stickers for that thing lol
Haha sure
I want some stickers, hop over to my channel and hook a brother up lol
I also would have used the brake clean first and not diesel I think it oil soaked the clutches worse
You left the blade down when trying the skid steer…
Lol good catch I figured that Skid Steer can lift that
I like using acetone over brake cleaner.
That won’t hurt anything
?
I believe brake cleaner is made up of a large percentage of acetone already and it hasn’t hurt anything I’ve put it to. So far it’s been my favorite all around cleaner/degreaser especially for what it cost and how well it works. $24 a gal compared to $40 and gallon for brakleen
From what I remember about the 1010 that I used to own is that almost every part on it is obsolete and even when you get it running as good as it ever will, it will still be a gutless turd. Possibly the worst crawler John Deere ever made, with the possible exception of the 2010.
squath 235 be proud
Make sure the fuel tank oulet aint bugger up ,you may have a cloogged fuel system from being on a angle.
I’ll check that
Use a couple of guide pins to take weight of manifold. less chance of damage to new gaskets
Thanks
you'll get a buddy just take your time and relax
You should show people that are watching for education purposes that you messed up putting the float bowl gasket on right. I hope you fixed that before finishing the carb. The gasket goes on before the float. Not on the bowl, but on the upper carb under the float. And when installing the manifolds, you should never use RTV on exhaust manifolds. It will burn it out and cause another leak.
I did fix the gasket, I figure people would turn the video off if they had to watch me take it apart, and the RTV was just to hold the gasket on there.
@@Dumpster_Dave Not trying to bash on you, love the content and videos, but showing the right way and mistakes help take it from bad cable to actual informative and helpful videos. I am an idiot office nerd trying to maintain my old equipment for my property and really appreciate you and other showing the process, not trying to discourage but help you see it is ok to show mistakes so we all can see the right way. Thank you Dumpster Dave!
👍👍
P.s. get a cute helper
Hello the person you bought that from you know you wanted it so he’s going to get it all fixed up and hope you never come back
get it back to level ground. float is closed?
Yeah
Jesse Muller, a good friend of Andrew Camarata, can tell you exactly what to do. He worked on one and showed all the details. You probalby already know him. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
It was Andrews dozer he has a video going to pick it up
I know I saw that video. This is about Jesse Muller, not Andrew.
Actually he bought it from someone Andrew sold it to.
Hope you did it right, the dog was looking very worried
lol
I wouldn’t use ether on a warm engine, not good at all
Hey Bud what is the rule of thumb for torque setting on the intake and exhaust manifold's ????
Either it sucked crap from the tank if it really ran out of fuel or your float height isn't correct because you on a hill.
Sloshed around junk in tank and blocked flow possibly? I always use inline filters on old stuff when I can.
@@scubasteve7946 thats what im thinking, its hard to tell on video but if its too much on an incline, the float could be blocking fuel from flowing.
You would think a bulldozer could back up a hill but I guess not with a gas engine.
@@Dumpster_Dave I have a Case 188 diesel that is dead right now also with a failed injection pump. These old girls all need help after several decades of (ab)use. The float level may possibly be too high in your carb. One suggestion if I may, please don't beat on that carb so much 😁. I just rebuilt the same carb on our old forklift. Had to R&R about 4 times to get it right. They're old and expensive to replace- a repro was over $700. If it doesn't work, banging a hammer usually only hurts the loose but behind the wheel although I share your frustrations 🤣
Glad you publicly shamed the guy visually with all that emulsified oil in the transmission.. !!! Just a bit of TLC and preventative maintenance will go a long way ….
I've got a 1010RU that be runnin just fine then suddenly start runnin like crap but will also start backfiring & if it sets awhile it'll have gas up in the intake tube....gonna pull the carb tom to adjust the float....frustratin ain't it....
Yeah it is, these dozers just love to break.
@Dumpster Dave not just the dozers....tractors the same way....
How much oil did you put in the transmission
I can’t remember
I guess I’m the only one that ever uses neverseize. Lol
Should have used Andrews name in the title
😊❤🦾🦴👍👍👍
I would recommend you to get the John Deere 1010 Technical Service Manual. Deeremanuals has it. It is an investment.
If it won't hit on starting fluid it has to be ignition problems.
Yeah something is going on with it.
andrew who?
Dave, your time and money is better spent on other stuff rather than this garbage.
Even best case scenario, you have a lump of metal that can barely pull its own weight. You get some RUclips monetisation out of it, from trying to fix it, but thats about it.
Have you ever been on-site and someone has brought one of these dozers along to do a job??
Dave I would of steam cleaned that engine the exhaust I would of wire brushed it and painted with engine exhaust black as your not going back into fixing again
Dave, could you get the microphone closer to your mouth? Thanks.
