Despite the comments below, I've had a Defender 130 for a 6 months and a Wrangler for 2 years previously. The Defender blows the Wrangler off the road! Defender wins hands down.

I purchased a Land Rover Defender 130 First Edition in October of 2022. It is my fourth Range Rover/Land Rover Vehicle over the last 25 years, and it is the BEST, Most Reliable of them all! After over 8,000 miles of road and off-road driving it is superior to nearly all other SUVs in both comfort, amazing features and drive-ability! The off road capability is even better than the old defender by far, with power of nearly 400 horsepower and 406 feet of torque. The creature comforts are just tremendous in both the myriad of variety provided and usability! Dive it and you will buy it!!! 👍🏻👏🏻

I own a 110 HSE. No faults that make the car undriveable, but a couple of small things that are annoying and the dealership have struggled to correct. The drivers side A pillar from the windscreen vibrates at 70mph+ LR have had this twice now and its going back for a 3rd time. Each time its a 6 week plus wait for a service space. The other niggle is a warning light for the coolant level keeps appearing, despite the coolant level being fine. LR head office apparently test every returned part now and wont pay the dealer if they cannot replicate the fault. This makes the dealer vary cautious about any warranty work needed and can be a nightmare for the owner. My tip is film everything and use it to prove any intermittent fault to the dealer. Do not buy one of these cars unless you can afford the extended warranty of approximately £1k pa

we had the 2022 defender with the supercharged V8 brand new,now it has 12000kms.Apparently its fully sealed underneath and has always been driven on the road and occassionally off road on light dirt tracks. The day it was sold, the customer said the interior floor was flooded.Landrover did a full check and found two of the seals in the front guards (which never comes in contact with anything from the ground) had broken and water leaked into the cabin.Nobody can explain why this happened.Still under warranty but Landrover wont front up anything for $24,000K worth of damage to two modules and the amp.Yeah nah the build quality is shit compared to a G Wagon.

I have a V8 90. Quicksilver exhaust. Lowered with Johnson rods. Kahn body kit. All blacked out limo tints etc. Oh also have the wheel spacers. 650 HP upgrade and 23" wheels coming. Way more masculine and fun than my 2022 g63. I paid 115k cash and all in it will be around 140k. Great deal. Love it. Will never go off road other than my travel driveway. Asked once about my definition of success, I answered " being able to go 90 mph down my driveway"

I was once a LR fan and owner. Reliability issues, unnecessary service visits, and terrible resale. Sorry but I’m out. Each mile you drive, it’s roughly a $1 per mile in loss of value. I want to like them again. But I just can’t wrap my head around the insane price points. Finally, I think Lexus and Toyota are gonna kill it next year with the new GX550 and New Prado based Land Cruiser. I can’t believe I said that, much less that I think I’m gonna look at both. Superior resale, reliability, and yes the performance will be excellent. JMO …

I've just been reading about how problematic recovering a Defender is, if it's in a truly offroad situation. Its owner's manual is very enlightening.
"The vehicle should not be towed on all four wheels and should not be recovered with the front or rear wheels suspended. Doing so can result in serious transmission damage. The method for recovery and/or transportation of the vehicle is on a transporter or trailer designed for that purpose."
"The recovery agent must activate the transmission park release before recovery commences. The procedure for activating the transmission park release is covered in a separate publication for service personnel."
If you don't, the following happens:
"If Neutral (N) is selected and the engine is then switched off, the transmission automatically selects Park (P) after 10 minutes has elapsed. If the transmission park release mechanism has not been activated and the vehicle is being towed, serious damage to the transmission will result."
"If the vehicle cannot be recovered via the correct method, the vehicle can be towed on all four wheels for a short distance."
" Do not tow the vehicle for more than 50 km (30 miles). Do not exceed 50 km/h (30 mph). Towing for a greater distance or at a higher speed may result in serious damage to the transmission."
So you can only go offroad to places that are within 50-ish km of access to a flatbed truck. ... but you can't even go that far unless you've learnt how to activate the transmission park release.
" Only tow the vehicle in a forward direction with all four wheels on the ground. Towing in a reverse direction, or with only two wheels on the ground, will cause serious damage to the transmission."
What if pulling it out backwards is the only access to where it's stuck?
" Do not tow the vehicle if the transmission cannot be set in Neutral (N)."
"Do not tow the vehicle if the rear electronic differential has failed in the locked position."
Crikey. With electrics that shut down the whole vehicle at the drop off a hat, how on earth does all THAT make it a good choice for serious offroading? Australia? Any continent except Europe? Hmm...
