This is an elaboration of the video GP did called "There Is No Person" ( • There Is No Person - N... ) In this he explains that what we perceive is real but not objective. It is all made of consciousness.
"We are constantly experiencing our perceptions and then our beliefs about those perceptions"
Yes, totally correct.
Perfectly expressed. Can't get much clearer than that
Thank you Beth
Fellow commenters Thank You, and GP thx for your reply's to them. The Q&A helps allot. Vijai
You are very welcome Vijai. i am here to help!
Love it love it love it
Thank you GP!
This is an intense one. Wow, Holy Cow. Minute 1 to 1:07 in particular, cleared a confusion I had. Thanks. Vijai
Ah very good. Let confusion dissolve away
Person is not permanent. Person is Human body + soul. Soul is never die. Soul is immortal.
Amen - And may I add, there is only one Soul
@@GPWalsh , yes, ❤🌹🙏
What a great perspective to discuss this from!
Thank you Trevor
If there is only consciousness (which sounds logic for me), it does not matter if consciousness believe to be a separate Self or not. Obviously it looks like consciousness "created" the Leela not to avoid problems and suffering, it is inverse, consciousness wants to play the game of good and bad. Nothing really matters. Nothing. But anyway, thank ou GP for your brilliant explaination !
Correct. The Self, in the absolute, does not even know itself. All the knower, knowing and known is the airising appearances. The believer and the belief are one. The dreamer is the dream.

You said that Advaita(Nonduality) means simply that there isn't something separate from yourself. But from what I have managed to research so far, I discovered that Advaita doesn't speak of things not being separate from yourself, but about simply nothing being separate from anything. There is no "Self" part in this, as we can see. I think Nagarjuna expresses it well in his works.
Nargajuna was Buddhist and the Buddhist perspective is no self. No self in persons, no self in things and no self in teachings. Advaita on the other hand refers to The Self or the paratman. They are essentially saying the same thing. One without a 2nd is essentially nothing. There is nothing separate because there are no things at all. The thingness is a projection of the mind.
The sense of being, recognized non-phenomenally is what could be called The Self. Both are pointers so don't get caught up in the words.
@@GPWalsh well you got caught up in words.
BRILLIANT !TY GP
Thank you Roman
Nice, this resonated with me. 😊
feelin the haircut gp!
Thank you for a very interesting video. I had one question in that regard: does this in conclusion then mean that say, Paris does not exist when no one is looking at it? Or am i getting it wrong?
You keep saying we perceive. You said the person is who we perceive. Who be we. Words
Well you! Are you not the one perceiving? And is not the self-image perceived by that which is not a self image?
@@GPWalsh Wonderful!
Gracias.

I just feel confused. Its all so cerebral. I just experience this body and mind having a life. I don't see how its only a perception.
Yes that is what you experience, a body and a mind. Now where is the person that you believe yourself to be. It is the body and mind? And the one that is experiencing the body and mind, is that not different from the body and mind? If it is then it is made of something else. Any thought you have of yourself would be that mind and you are not that. So you are not the idea you hold of yourself. So then, what are you? That is the question.
This is not cerebral or intellectual even though we use the precision of intellect to deconstruct our assumptions. It is a direct seeing without any conceptualizing at all. I experience body and mind, so they are objects within my experience and are not essentially what I am. Then what am I?
That's a very good point and so beautifully put.
The universe is a big lie that consciousness tells itself. You are first as a truth pure consciousness alone and secondarily as a lie an egotistic self and a universe. There's no place for subject and objects dualities where pure consciousness is all that there is. That's impossible. That cannot be. Consciousness is all that there is.
Consciousness cannot lie because it is Truth itself. I think lela or play is more accurate. Consciousness is all there is. Nothing exists at all and these are nothing but words.
Form is emptiness, emptiness is form. The Buddha says there is no universal consciousness. The ultimate cannot be discribed. The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. I however do like your videos. But you are caught in a kind of consciousness solipsism that sounds reminiscent of Descartes.
Jonathan Thomas
Except that GP, unlike Descartes, doesn't postulate that one's existence arises from thought (Descartes dictum, "I think therefore I am"). One's sense of oneself is simply the PERCEPTION one has of being an existent being and that's it.
Oh so it means all our experiences are our own perceptions. But other people's experiences are thier own. So it's ownership than. I think.
Yes. Which also means your perception of other people is only that. Which is why the admonition to not judge or hate.
GP Walsh Thank you so much!
Why do the senses agree? Why do we feel our hand poking our body at the same time as seeing it?
...
Consciousness is generated by brain function. This makes me wonder how did the first brain begin to exist? Back when it was a simple single-cell organism. How did space provide it?
I actually disagree with that Jesse. The current belief is that matter is an emergent property of the complexity of matter. The way I see it, matter is a belief held by consciousness and that consciousness is the substance of all experience. Consciousness, identified with the objects it beholds imagine that they exist independently. It names the substance of that independent existence matter.
I did a video on the 2 different models and why I have come down on the side that I have. if you are interested here it is . ruclips.net/video/5r3y9swasA4/видео.html
Brain just reacts,it can not generate anything.
Good questions. The answer is We don't know. It's unknowable. These are all appearances.
I watched this to give you another chance. You are still caught in being and nonbeing. You are correct about matter but you still use the terms inside and outside. Now let me ask you a question; when were you born?
Please elaborate.
We perceive the perceiving as long as we are in the body, and then the body reaches the end point.
But new beings are born, just like cells of the body, for a larger organism that is one and the same, living and dying they keep going together as one. If there is no time, no past, no future, only an eternal present. How to answer? When was I born? When did the collective start. Do we look at the theory of the big bang?
Bodies die but consciousness keeps flowing, when did consciousness start? I'm confused.
@@andreperiquito5989, it's actually a good thing that you are confused. It means you start doubting or at least doubting readily adopted believes. One of the believes that you are still holding onto is, that you are existing in a body through which you experience an outside world.
This is the fundamental barrier where most of mankind is stuck in. And it is also the essentiell point where you need to flip your entire perspective to understand what Gp is talking about. Kind of like these optical illusions where you see either tow people in profile facing each other or a vase that consists of the empty space between the faces.
Instead of interpreting your experiences as something like a soul that is existing in a body, shift that perspective and try to see that that what you are is actually looking from outside into a bubble of conciousness. And through that screen of conciousness you are experiencing a body and a world, not unlike these new VR games where one is wearing these optical masks. Now just see, that you are not that character in the game, of whom you can only see the arms and hands holding that unavoidable gun, but you are that, which is looking in from outside. 😘
I've heard it said that the Christ consciousness is the unborn. Therefore, the essence of you and me has never been born.
