I wish I understood. Despite several brief and accidental nonduality experiences in my 20’s all that I’ve learned from 13 years of desperate seeking is that I’m way too dumb for spirituality.
Hi Calabasas - I respectfully disagree. Non-duality is such a departure from the way we normally think that it requires a different way of thinking altogether. However, for you right now, I would set aside trying to think about it and instead, just start allowing your feelings. Anchor you attention in the body, even if it is uncomfortable. The body is always in the present moment, like a dog or cat. The mind is never in the present moment but in the past or the future. Just cultivate a compassionate witnessing of your own feelings and don't engage with any thought at all. Eventually some space will open up and the right way to approach non-dual self-inquiry will begin to emerge.
When I meditate, I feel like a blank observer but even with my eye closed my sense is that my being is sitting just behind my eyes. Every time I tried to observe what is noticing that sensation of existing behind the eyes, that thing always seems to feel like it also behind the eyes. I know this can't be true because consciousness isn't located in a place, but it's been a sticking point for me.
Consciousness is not located anywhere but the point of perception is. that is all it is. Now just notice that you are perceiving, the sensation, the eyes and behind the eyes. You don't have to get rid of the sense of location. Just pay attention to the awareness of it.
Regarding "who is identifying itself as the person", it can be understood from the experience of dream. It is the dreamer who is identifying himself as the illusory person in the dream. The dreamer is everywhere in the dream, but can never be found as a thing.
The only thing with dreams is that it has different properties than the awaken state, properties which if are not identified as different from a dream, one would not even be talking about dreams as it will be undifferentiated from a natural awaken state. And that is exactly the problem with typical non dualists.

The level of personal development I now do is very centered around nonduality and the regular self help stuff is difficult to relate to after having had an ego death experience and a realization of my true nature as Being. You may find as you establish yourself more fully in the non dual sense of being that the self-help stuff will actually help. Once awakening occurs there is a post-awakening sadhana that happens. Where the vision of the absolute permeates the human you Truth becomes a living being. Being in the being and then both the dual and the non dual dissolve into the one isness.
So, whatever I really am, must be the same as you, and the same as my dog or a tree, and the same as bacteria, am I right? We cannot draw a line, can we? We are all awareness reacting to the environment. Is it safe to say that you is actually me, but awaken in another body, living another life, with difference experiences and memories, and somehow at the same time? And if I am right, wouldn't it be a the best thing to convey to people? If everyone knew that all life are in fact themselves, we wouldn't need to be altruistic, but egoistic. We would want all life to have a good experience, because it is me. We would help each other. Noticing what is not real, what is left is one single thing. And this is the knowledge the world needs.
Yes, but not as an individual. First establish yourself in the one, universal consciousness and then you will see that consciousness everywhere. You will see that it is not consciousness awake in another body but an infinite number of bodies all within awakened consciousness.
It is self contradictory to say you are the same as a dog, tree, or another person. You are in that very statement making differences, and they are real to the extent of its forms and properties. You should say that the material used to create a human, a dog, a tree is the same but those objects are formed by the intelligence of God with a diversity of properties. One object can have less or more as God pleases to create. Note that the so called real you does not create anything by itself, only God creates and gives shape to beings, we can only shape what has been created by Him as we see the natural world. We do not have the power to become other thing than humans but we can work with our humanity. A woman has different properties than a man and even if the woman feels is a man does not change the brute fact by which we identify there is a female and there is a male. We are one and are interconnected to each other thing created by God in spirit but with the diversity of every thing intact. You do not need to lose your basic identity to change or experience the unity consciousness already experiences if you will. Consciousness will always with God shape us according to that creation or initial shape of God. People indeed break that law and or try to shape it into a sinful fleshly person or by logical fallacy do not identify ourselves with nothing but simply let consciousness take the shape it pleases. It is a fallacy when we believe that consciousness randomly manifests itself in different forms so that we are not to identify ourselves with nothing. The fact as I said is that consciousness works within the limits of the intentions of the Higher intelligence and not out of itself, our real self or consciousness is not of itself but of God, this truth is obtained by its own intelligence impressed by God and we know it but suppress it.

Neither same nor different is accurate. it is both and neither. Which is why the Buddha would say, it both exists and does not exists. That is as close as we can get to articulating the transcendent in words.
@@GPWalsh hi again, I am not sure if you understood my statement, not sure why your comment. But to be sure, evil is only done away in the sufferings and death of Jesus. No practice or meditation can eradicate evil nor the guilt of it. We need someone to deliver us. Non duality only relativizes it, but it does not deal with it directly. God is going to judge us according to what we have done, and only by Jesus we can be made right with Him.
The creation and use of abstractions may be a convenient tool but it blinds us to suffering and cruelty that may or may not be intentional. In addition to that abstractions limit experience. I used to spend time sitting in a park. I brought a variety of nuts to feed squirrels. Over time the squirrels got used to my presence and some would not only eat out of my hand but would crawl on me. I learned that squirrels show different behavior and one was openly aggressive seemingly interested in having all the nuts. I also learned that many people consider squirrels to be fair game to chase and kill. People have ideas that generalize squirrel behavior but I discovered each squirrel was unique with a separate character.
Spiral Dynamics What obviously exists is an experience that we have named sensation. That is what we experience. The physical object that is supposedly the origin of that sensation is what we call the body and belief that it exists independent of our perception of it. The sensations are real. The body, as an object is imaginary, a metaphysical assumption. Moreover, you cannot step outside of your perceptions and verify the objective existence of n object that is the supposed source of the sensation. Every night you dream and experience sensations and there is no body causing them. They are totally subjective. The only difference is that, in the waking state we believe that there really is a body. Sensation and the consciousness perceiving it are self-evident. The body is only a concept. And a false one at that. You are not a bod. You are consciousness.

In a night-time dream I may dream about my hand being injured and the pain will feel 100% real, only to wake up and realize that it was all a dream and the pain was imagined. What if it is the same case in the waking state? Could it be that sensations come from the mind, and therefore not real ?
@@SK6954 Yes you are seeing the nature of the illusion. I refer to somethings as "real" only to illustrate that the world we walk through is a projection of the mind. So I use the example of a mirage in the desert. I say the sand and the heat and the like are real but the imagined oasis is not. At this level it get one to question their perceptions. For most, jumping right into the fact that the desert is also an illusion is too much for a first step. All in due time.
Hi. Sorry that my question has nothing to do with the video. But, I would like to know if when we are having an out of body experience or near death experience, are we really out of the body?. A few years ago I experienced the nothingness. I wasn't meditating or anything. It just happened to me. I never felt out of my body at all...I was just there, in an instant. There are those that are more intellectually inclined so use it. Question your assumptions and push them to the limit. Use the mind to explore the boundaries of the intellect. You will eventually go beyond the mind. Simultaneously just cultivate loving kindness and compassion; first towards yourself and then towards others. Over time the heart will also open and your intellect and you affections will meet and have a delicious dinner together.

Buddha, Christ, the Prophets all pointed to reality. Real identity is what you actually are. False identity is what you believe yourself to be. What you believe creates your experience, even though what you believe is not true. That is the power of belief. But Truth is something else altogether. Believe needs to be believed in order to sustain it. Truth is self-sustained. As for what is energy? No one actually knows. In science it is not a thing at all but a unit of measurement. I use it in the context of just being a very subtle essence out of which more complex forms arise.

I really don’t get what all the fuss is about Non Duality. No one suggests that physically, the “I” today is the same “I” as yesterday. Perspective may also change, but the feeling of a self is unvarying. Others suggest that this self is a consciousness, and is more like a soul, something non-physical and infinite. Seems a lot of “certainties” are being thrown about, and bolstering by linking to and appropriation of existing ideas from old texts/religions.
Deconstructing the person is duality plus singularity. Of which all require one another. They are one another,- duality Neg - is singularity and Pos +. Singularity is - and +. + is singulairty and -. Like yin/yang. They are a cooperative with each half within the other half, and the dividing line of singularity (binding energy). If you look close at the Yin/Yang symbol, that liitle dot in each half? It s a complete Yin/Yang symbol. All three are the creators of one another, from their creation,. The past -, the present (today/moment) and the future are duality,- Past (-), present (singularity) and future (+). All are each other. There is no way, after death, someone stays in the singularity. For form is it, as it is form. Each point of vibration has a heartsource center (aura) the entire history of all that has occurred in the past a n d future of the universe is within the center of each aura. There is the unmoving and unchanging and the dynamic. But they are not 2. Just like blue light and red light are both light and not 2 so the dynamic and static aspects of consciousness are not 2. The ultimately unity is inconceivable.

No. It is all real!!!!!!! What isn't real is our interpretation of it. Of course, you are real. Are you not hearing my voice, seeing the images on this screen, reading this reply? This is the single biggest mistake in non-duality (unfortunately perpetuated by immature teachers). The view you hold of yourself is not real. that is just a belief projected on reality. When you see the oasis in the desert, the desert is real. the sand is real. the blazing hot sun is real. the heat rising off the sand and creating distortions in the light as it rises in the air. the thirst. All of that is real. The oasis is not. it is projected on it. Even so the belief of a separate self is projected on that which is really here. It is projected on the real you. It is a simple shift in perspective. Like when we realized that the earth was moving and not the sun. The sun didn't suddenly rev up and start going. Nothing changed except perspective. Awakening is like that. So... do I quiet the terror?
No, not really. If everything is love, and love is war, and horror, and tragedy, evil ect, then shifting my perspective on what my belief that love is might not be beneficial?
This is not something that can be arrived at intellectually. As you say, if all is love then brutality and cruelty are all love. That is obviously absurd. So if that is what non-dual inquiry is all about it is rubbish. But it isn't. It reveals that, at the heart of all external conflict lies a deep misunderstanding of our own nature. True seeing eradicates any need for domination and conflict. As long as there is a sense of a separate self there will be war, stupidity and brutality. The true self is neither cruel nor barbaric. The false self is in a constant state of self-protection. The true self swims in its own immortality.

Just look directly at the sense of awareness. Is it moving? Everything you are aware of is constantly moving, coming and going. If you identify with the body you will assume that "I" am moving. But, the "I" returns to its source, which is pure awareness, then we see that all motion is perceived from a still place. The formless cannot move, it simply is. I hope that answers that for you! Yes that is true. But all these words are pointers to simply invite you to look at your direct experience. if you identify with the body then you are moving. But is the point of perception moving. We crhistians can agree with many ideas here. The key issue that has and will have terrible consequences is that you place consciousness as the ultimate reality. But there is another supreme Consciousness, which is the God that the Bible speak of, the great I am. Yes the antichrist which also worked in the old testament times, like in Babylon, foreshadowing the first coming of Christ, teaches that 'the real you is consciousness, and that is the ultimate reality of all, you are God, the I am. The spiritual deception here is the apex of rebellion orquestated by Lucifer, that comes and will come as a person to guide into that awareness for our own evolution and peace, etc. But without the need of God, as people would not believe in a God that is not us. Jesus only is the Christ and he unites our consciousness, that is only a part of the our spirits, which is what you are taping into, you so do it in the realm of darkness were the fallen angels are, see Ephesians 6. That is why many have encounters and channeling, etc. These ppl have the same view of non duality to some degree, or consciousness as the only reality. It is true that we are images and the spirit is the reality. But it is inconsistent to say that the real you is consciousness as you is a projection of the spirit. So there is no such thing as real you. Unless you mean that the idea shaped by the spirit is the real you as an idea. The fact guys is that you do not have to manipulate who you are as an idea, you cannot simply get rid of it. And so you will be judge according to how you have lived. I understand the lie that there is no judgement for there is not Judge. The christian does not deny the reality of personality, yes as an idea, as everything in the material world. Jonathan Edwards one of the best thinker in Christen believed in the same thing, but obviously knew that God is as it were the father of our spirits, he is the source, we have the spirit that connects to His Spirit. And so in Him we live and move and have our being, but God is the being of beings, the creator of all. Yes with the same material, the energy of his spirit. Our spirits is alive to ourselves and the rest of reality but is dead to God, that is, it has lost its communion with Him, although metaphysically is connected. That is why although we know Him we suppress the fact and place ourselves in His position. the idea of God is not to deconstruct us as to lose our basic ideas of the self, like personality, but to change it with the image of Christ Jesus by His Spirit that by uniting with Him in his death and resurrection our spirits are awakened from the dead because of our sins. In him we are forgiven and transformed into his likeness in one act and progressively. We are with ilhim in the heavenlies and can have the discernmenr of the realms below one of which you are being deceived. Your ancient philosophy is carnal, is from men, is what Lucifer gives you because is what exalts you usurping Christ and God the father. 1 John 2:22 says: Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. In advaita you cannot even start to deal with the verse, as there is no such thing as a lie in reality, the end, whatever the means, will be realized, according to non dualist. But John, who saw the end of all things two thousand years ago says explicitly, if you deny the father and the son, you are a liar and Antichrist, this is the work of the spirit Antichrist... And you deny both by taking their position. Read the letter whole letter for better understanding, do not be deceive, there is nothing to lose if you change your position, do not think of Christianity as you have heard it from others or seen in you limited experience. But if you do not come to Jesus, the Christ, you will suffer judgement and eternal misery for your sinful style of life that you have had, and if you are not convicted of that now you will be at that day, without even noticing.

Your pessimistic view of his content is disappointing. It seems you’re knowledgeable on this topic as are others watching it. However, you make it seem like he’s giving us a shortcut to enlightenment. That’s not his approach from what I’ve watched nor is his style of teaching that of a shortcut “one step cures all” approach. The end goal of what he’s describing in this video takes years and years of work. He’s simply laying out the game plan. Try not to get too judgmental even if you feel you may know better. Are you actually experiencing what you are preaching. I'm not saying you are wrong or right. Just saying look inside and not just believe in something, as that is just mind, which is thoughts, which come and go. Who knows they come and go. The Awareness that gives life to every experience, which without there could be no experience. Verify your statement experientially and see if is Truth. Then you can write the above. Terry Hoole Who you are and who you believe yourself to be are 2different things. Every therapist on the planet knows this. It is not a great secret that our self-image may not jive with our reality. I can easily describe myself as my name and address in a court of law. But I that is not who I am. Just how I function. The lunatic asylum is our everyday life as we act out versions of ourselves that are illusory. Spirituality is the honest search for what is objectively true. Which will more often than not be regarded as nonsense by those who have not questioned those assumptions. That the sun was stationary and the earth turning on its access was once regarded as nonsense. “Any fool can see that the sun is moving and not the earth.” Reality did not change. Only our perception of it. We should take all of our assumptions with a grain of salt.

No practice or meditation can eradicate evil nor the guilt of it. We need someone to deliver us. Non duality only relativizes it, but it does not deal with it directly. God is going to judge us according to what we have done, and only by Jesus we can be made right with Him.

The creation and use of abstractions may be a convenient tool but it blinds us to suffering and cruelty that may or may not be intentional. In addition to that abstractions limit experience. I used to spend time sitting in a park. I brought a variety of nuts to feed squirrels. Over time the squirrels got used to my presence and some would not only eat out of my hand but would crawl on me. I learned that squirrels show different behavior and one was openly aggressive seemingly interested in having all the nuts.
I also learned that many people consider squirrels to be fair game to chase and kill. People have ideas that generalize squirrel behavior but I discovered each squirrel was unique with a separate character.

Spiral Dynamics What obviously exists is an experience that we have named sensation. That is what we experience. The physical object that is supposedly the origin of that sensation is what we call the body and belief that it exists independent of our perception of it. The sensations are real. The body, as an object is imaginary, a metaphysical assumption.
Moreover, you cannot step outside of your perceptions and verify the objective existence of n object that is the supposed source of the sensation. Every night you dream and experience sensations and there is no body causing them. They are totally subjective.
The only difference is that, in the waking state we believe that there really is a body. Sensation and the consciousness perceiving it are self-evident. The body is only a concept. And a false one at that. You are not a bod. You are consciousness.

In a night-time dream I may dream about my hand being injured and the pain will feel 100% real, only to wake up and realize that it was all a dream and the pain was imagined. What if it is the same case in the waking state? Could it be that sensations come from the mind, and therefore not real ?
@@SK6954 Yes you are seeing the nature of the illusion. I refer to somethings as "real" only to illustrate that the world we walk through is a projection of the mind.
So I use the example of a mirage in the desert. I say the sand and the heat and the like are real but the imagined oasis is not. At this level it get one to question their perceptions.
For most, jumping right into the fact that the desert is also an illusion is too much for a first step.

Hi. Sorry that my question has nothing to do with the video. But, I would like to know if when we are having an out of body experience or near death experience, are we really out of the body?. A few years ago I experienced the nothingness. I wasn't meditating or anything. It just happened to me. I never felt out of my body at all...I was just there, in an instant. Buddha, Christ, the Prophets all pointed to reality. Real identity is what you actually are. False identity is what you believe yourself to be. What you believe creates your experience, even though what you believe is not true. That is the power of belief. But Truth is something else altogether. Believe needs to be believed in order to sustain it. Truth is self-sustained.
As for what is energy? No one actually knows. In science it is not a thing at all but a unit of measurement. I use it in the context of just being a very subtle essence out of which more complex forms arise.

I really don’t get what all the fuss is about Non Duality. No one suggests that physically, the “I” today is the same “I” as yesterday. Perspective may also change, but the feeling of a self is unvarying.
Others suggest that this self is a consciousness, and is more like a soul, something non-physical and infinite. Seems a lot of “certainties” are being thrown about, and bolstering by linking to and appropriation of existing ideas from old texts/religions.

Deconstructing the person is duality plus singularity. Of which all require one another. They are one another,- duality Neg - is singularity and Pos +. Singularity is - and +. + is singulairty and -. Like yin/yang. They are a cooperative with each half within the other half, and the dividing line of singularity (binding energy). There is the unmoving and unchanging and the dynamic. But they are not 2. Just like blue light and red light are both light and not 2 so the dynamic and static aspects of consciousness are not 2. The ultimately unity is inconceivable.

No. It is all real!!!!!!! What isn't real is our interpretation of it. Of course, you are real. Are you not hearing my voice, seeing the images on this screen, reading this reply? This is the single biggest mistake in non-duality (unfortunately perpetuated by immature teachers). The view you hold of yourself is not real. that is just a belief projected on reality.
When you see the oasis in the desert, the desert is real. the sand is real. the blazing hot sun is real. the heat rising off the sand and creating distortions in the light as it rises in the air. the thirst. All of that is real. The oasis is not. it is projected on it.
Even so the belief of a separate self is projected on that which is really here. It is projected on the real you. It is a simple shift in perspective. Like when we realized that the earth was moving and not the sun. The sun didn't suddenly rev up and start going. Nothing changed except perspective.
Awakening is like that. So... do I quiet the terror?
No, not really. If everything is love, and love is war, and horror, and tragedy, evil ect, then shifting my perspective on what my belief that love is might not be beneficial?
This is not something that can be arrived at intellectually. As you say, if all is love then brutality and cruelty are all love. That is obviously absurd. So if that is what non-dual inquiry is all about it is rubbish. But it isn't. It reveals that, at the heart of all external conflict lies a deep misunderstanding of our own nature.
True seeing eradicates any need for domination and conflict. As long as there is a sense of a separate self there will be war, stupidity and brutality. The true self is neither cruel nor barbaric. The false self is in a constant state of self-protection. The true self swims in its own immortality.

Just look directly at the sense of awareness. Is it moving? Everything you are aware of is constantly moving, coming and going. If you identify with the body you will assume that "I" am moving. But, the "I" returns to its source, which is pure awareness, then we see that all motion is perceived from a still place. The formless cannot move, it simply is. I hope that answers that for you! We crhistians can agree with many ideas here. The key issue that has and will have terrible consequences is that you place consciousness as the ultimate reality. But there is another supreme Consciousness, which is the God that the Bible speak of, the great I am. Yes the antichrist which also worked in the old testament times, like in Babylon, foreshadowing the first coming of Christ, teaches that 'the real you is consciousness, and that is the ultimate reality of all, you are God, the I am. The spiritual deception here is the apex of rebellion orquestated by Lucifer, that comes and will come as a person to guide into that awareness for our own evolution and peace, etc. But without the need of God, as people would not believe in a God that is not us. Jesus only is the Christ and he unites our consciousness, that is only a part of the our spirits, which is what you are taping into, you so do it in the realm of darkness were the fallen angels are, see Ephesians 6. That is why many have encounters and channeling, etc. These ppl have the same view of non duality to some degree, or consciousness as the only reality. It is true that we are images and the spirit is the reality. But it is inconsistent to say that the real you is consciousness as you is a projection of the spirit. So there is no such thing as real you. Unless you mean that the idea shaped by the spirit is the real you as an idea. The fact guys is that you do not have to manipulate who you are as an idea, you cannot simply get rid of it. And so you will be judge according to how you have lived. I understand the lie that there is no judgement for there is not Judge. The christian does not deny the reality of personality, yes as an idea, as everything in the material world. Jonathan Edwards one of the best thinker in Christen believed in the same thing, but obviously knew that God is as it were the father of our spirits, he is the source, we have the spirit that connects to His Spirit. And so in Him we live and move and have our being, but God is the being of beings, the creator of all. Yes with the same material, the energy of his spirit. Our spirits is alive to ourselves and the rest of reality but is dead to God, that is, it has lost its communion with Him, although metaphysically is connected. That is why although we know Him we suppress the fact and place ourselves in His position. the idea of God is not to deconstruct us as to lose our basic ideas of the self, like personality, but to change it with the image of Christ Jesus by His Spirit that by uniting with Him in his death and resurrection our spirits are awakened from the dead because of our sins. In him we are forgiven and transformed into his likeness in one act and progressively. We are with ilhim in the heavenlies and can have the discernmenr of the realms below one of which you are being deceived. Your ancient philosophy is carnal, is from men, is what Lucifer gives you because is what exalts you usurping Christ and God the father. 1 John 2:22 says: Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
In advaita you cannot even start to deal with the verse, as there is no such thing as a lie in reality, the end, whatever the means, will be realized, according to non dualist. But John, who saw the end of all things two thousand years ago says explicitly, if you deny the father and the son, you are a liar and Antichrist, this is the work of the spirit Antichrist... And you deny both by taking their position. Read the letter whole letter for better understanding, do not be deceive, there is nothing to lose if you change your position, do not think of Christianity as you have heard it from others or seen in you limited experience. But if you do not come to Jesus, the Christ, you will suffer judgement and eternal misery for your sinful style of life that you have had, and if you are not convicted of that now you will be at that day, without even noticing.

However, you make it seem like he’s giving us a shortcut to enlightenment. That’s not his approach from what I’ve watched nor is his style of teaching that of a shortcut “one step cures all” approach.
