I swear this nigga Jeff Rosenstock releases an album every fucking time i'm going through a crisis. His music is the reoccurring themesongs of my life.
GangsOfNewYorkFanboy same man. I got out of a really bad long term relationship right as We Cool cane out. Rn I'm struggling with wanting to play music but also not wanting to be a bum just as this record comes out.
i've known about the record for a couple years, and i had tried giving it listens throughout those, certainly enjoying it while it was on, but i never could remember the majority of the songs after finishing the album. within the last few days though, there was the 10 year anniversary of "vacation" from his previous project, bomb the music industry!, (which i didn't even know he was a part of somehow because i'm stupid and only knew that they were an apparently cool pop punk band or something) so i listened to that for the first time and loved it. then i decided "hmm, i liked no dream a lot too, let me retry worry" and i suddenly am so unbelievably in love with this album that it almost makes me cry thinking about it. i'm a little bit lame, my bad, but yeah, this is a 10/10 album. also, the lyric "love is worry" on "...while you're alive" is a string of 3 words that i can't even find a way to explain the significance of. it's such an obvious truth, but i somehow never have thought about it that way. i usually hate when people say "love is..." statements, like i somehow found myself watching a bit of marvels' new loki series recently and they had a scene where they were doing that a bunch - it annoyed me quite a bit. however, my girlfriend has been really ill the last few days, and watching someone you care about so much be in pain as you struggle to try and do whatever you can to care for them truly reveals the reality of that lyric. i don't think any other example of a "love is" statement works more than "love is worry." that's how you know you have love for someone - you worry about them.
Little fun fact So I met Jeff a few weeks back and had him sign my worry vinyl and asked him if he was at that party and he said it was his wedding party and that’s his friend Chad in the middle and Jeff is the person to the left blurred out
this is probably one of the greatest albums. ever. yeah. i said it. once you really get into this thing, it's impossible to get out. love is worry baby.
Wow I just started really getting into Jeff recently and I have no idea how this didn’t at least get a 9/10, not a single song on here that isn’t literally amazing. Jeff is easily top five greatest living songwriters and this album is beyond perfection. 10/10
Just when I thought 2016 was gunna stop giving Jeff releases this pop punk masterpiece, in a year of dreary and soul crushingly sad albums, being sad sounds so fun for once
I’m 23 and I absolutely adore Jeff’s music and have related to many songs. Idk why people make comments like this when it’s just straight up wrong. I don’t know many my own age who like punk. There really isn’t any teenagers rocking out to new age punk. Jeff is new age punk.
@@BaronVonBielskii really don’t think you understand the progression of jeff’s career and the btmi story based off this comment. this comment is not about relating to the lyrics, its about how jeff has lived his life up until that point in the punk scene, and everything he’d gone through. he is literally the voice of the older generation of punks, because he speaks for all other punks who used to live like he did, and now are in a sort of limbo and are struggling and worried to get by and live in this world now. literally the entire point of the album, it’s for the older generation of punks. anyone can enjoy it of course, i’m 15 and I relate to a lot of what he says and he’s easily one of my favorite artists ever but you can’t say he isnt the voice of the older gen of punks because that what this record is about.
Still so baffling this didn't get a 10. Also Blast Damage Days is such a fuckin banger and has some of the best lyrics on one of the best lyrical albums of the decade.
Dang. Blast Damage Days is my favorite track on the album. Beautiful 6/8 guitar harmonies during the last choruses. Other than that you're spot on with how I feel about the album. Jeff Foreverstock.
Jeff Rosenstock is an artist who is best experienced LIVE. Some how his sardonic wit, smarts, emotion and exuberance does not translate as well on a record but this is great enough to get those who are not familiar with him to go OUT and see him and this you MUST DO.
To quote Cal: "Well, if you give this album anything under a 10, that's messing up. You can give it an 11. You can give it a 12. You can give it a 13..." Good review though, glad you reviewed this one. Spot on analysis.
Saw him live. Music for my 20 year old soul but lyrics that resonate with my 34 year old mind. Living in a city whose rents are skyrocketing and the neigborhoods are changing, Wave Goodnight to Me is a millenial anthem. I wish it didn't hurt, I wish I didn't care.
I personally think We Cool? is a little better, but holy this album still kicks ass. Jeff is one of the most important independent artists out right now.
James Marlon You're probably right, I think it's just because I've had more time to listen to We Cool? and it just connects with me on a more personal level
Erik Schuessler I do like the way they are trying to stay relevant but i also think it might be to close to the wii U. I do love Nintendo tho and wil definitely the new pokémon :]
I just feel that nobody wants to play AAA open world and incredibly deep games like Skyrim and an open world Zelda on a handheld system, so it being also portable as a console is pretty niche.
Anthony, do you ever make your own music? I know you are a musician and you clearly have a solid grasp on production, recording, mixing, etc. I would be very interested to see some of your musical creations.
Dude, give the new Korn album a listen. (I know, I know) I was actually pleasantly surprised by it. It's turning out to be my guilty pleasure of the year.

Yep. I revisited it this week after a track came on my shuffle playlist, and I've dived back in and it's twice as good. Really good album.

This album Is the album of the decade, upvote to agree!
Yep, 8/10 is a good score. I'm a fanboy so i'd give it a 9, but happy with this score.
I swear, Jeff is one of the most consistent musicians out there today. His solo work, along with his ASoB and BtMI! stuff has all been fantastic
been rocking hard consistently for over 20 years! and he does a lot of work with other bands too! like AJJ etc

Redux review for a 10/10 when
This was a fantastic review Anthony, I was already in love with this album but you brought up some points/meanings I hadn't considered before.
Nothing quite like seeing Jeff live the energy is unbelievable. So positive so intense

Jeff never misses, but this album is easily his best, a 10/10 IMO. Best of Jeff, and best of the genre.
After listening to this album a million times since it came out I must vehemently disagree that "Blast Damage Days" is the worst song on the album
there are no bad songs, anthony is just a big smelly dumb head
This album was amazing. We Begged 2 Explode blew me away.

I prefer one feeling to one message in an album. The latter can work, but it's just easier to come back to an album on the basis of emotion.
blast damage days towers above the rest of the record
Jeff always delivers
The album hasn't really struck a chord with me yet but I'll definitely give it some more listens. Jeff is awesome! Highly recommend his shows
