Daily Fortnite I never had any sound problems. When exporting check if sounds are enabled or there is some soecial settings going on there. Again, never had any sound problems with it, check for updates or reinstall the whole thing if the problem wont work itself out.
For all saying the page is gone, go to internet archive, the place where you can download discontinued software for "educational purposes" for free and with no malware. It saved me couple of times and it saved me again now.
Thank you so much! I've tried editing with other video editors that I quite frankly don't understand how to use. I often use Movie Maker to create animations by stringing short photos together, and I have not ever found another program which is as simplistic as Movie Maker has allowed me to create those animations. For anyone wondering, I animate using a mouse and not a drawing tablet, which is why I can't easily use freeware animation softwares like Krita.
Its now completly removed from Microsoft for download sometime in march 2018. Everything has limitations or watermarks. Movie maker was good quick video editor. This is so annoying.

This is one of the greatest videos I have watched in a very long time! I'd be lying if I said this video didn't help me out immensely, because movie maker was my go to video editor because I didn't need something too complicated but now I can go back to doing normal video editing, so thanks!

just bought a new desktop and an updated to an old laptop with window-10 computers that they don't have Window Live Movie maker no more , so i downloaded window essential -2012 that works , thank you for your instructional video and your accent

2 years later, I STILL have not found an editor that was as easy to use, free, convenient that offered all the features I need like Movie Maker did. I will FOREVER be mad at Microsoft for getting rid of it, in the least preventing us from downloading old versions. It blows my mind that in 2016 an OS actually does not come with a movie making app or program and you have to download one from 2012. This is the "future"? I don't understand why anyone is their right mind would be running Windows 10 anyway seeing as how it's super buggy, a privacy nightmare, and malware prone. At the end of the day I almost always end up telling my clients that unless they play lots of games they are much better served with MacOS or Linux. Stability, security, usability, features, price, Windows falls short in all of these compared to MacOS and Linux Mint.

Great, the first link worked for me. Thank you for the upload Brian. You do need 7 zip to open it up. Download 7zip and install on your computer. Then right click on the downloaded file that Brian provided then go to 7zip and unzip, you can then install (open with), works a treat. You can also use WinRar.

Still using it in W10 in 2020. The new editor in W10 does not have enough features. Only issue I have with Moviemaker is that it sometimes will hang. That can be a pain, but sometimes at restart it just asks if I want to restore the previous project.
It may have worked for a time post the initial release of Windows 10 but subsequent updates to Windows 10 has rendered movie Maker completely inoperative. I keep a Windows 7 computer around with it on so that I can use the feature I'm adding lyrics to music videos which I can't find any other Editor to do as easily

I scanned it with emsisoft anti malware and virus total and both declared it legit and malware-FREE. It had a community score of +72 on virus Total. BTW if you just want movie maker run the essentials installer and click on the manual install and deselect everything except movie maker

Nicely done video here Britec09 but it's outdated. Windows Movie Maker no longer available on MS site. But I followed the advice of a poster down the thread, and MS Video Editor is on Win10, and it will convert an AVI to Mp4, or save to Mp4. It seems to be similar to the old Movie Maker, but takes a bit to find the parts (looks quite different). Video Editor can all be pulled up via 'Photos' (as the poster downthread suggested).

Dear Microsoft: Windows Movie Maker 2012 worked on my Acer Windows 10 laptop and it still works. However, I am not happy with your new movie maker version because it is now a paid version to get any features while the 2012 version was nice and easy for people who cannot pay for it, where it was FREE. That made me really happy for the video editor as it was supported, I used it for any video I could edit with 4 other editors if needed such as VSDC, iMovie, InShot, and CapCut. Stop changing everything to paid versions unless you make an app related to paid items which you should do.
Movie maker and the default picture viewer from windows XP were my fave tools then they had to remove them and replace them with some crappy programs which kept hanging
click on any photo in the photo viewer, then press edit and create, then make video with sound then remove the image from project library, you have a clean, empty video editor in which you can drag and drop sound, images, and videos.
Yes you can still use Windows Live Movie Maker on Windows 7 and 8 which I have got. But I found I had to first disconnect my network so it would install offline. Because it blocks online install so the only way is to install it offline. That is not connected to the Internet then reconnect one it is installed. You can also install Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and 6 from Windows Vista and the XP Movie Maker 2.1 also works. You need to copy the XP Movie Maker 2.1 from a Windows XP computer but Movie Maker 2.6 can be downloaded from Microsoft. All work on Windows 8 so I assume they work on Windows 10 but I have not got 10.

Now in picture editing on windows 10 upgrade there's a video editor hidden inside the photo editing software and it is free loads of clever things hidden in it and some surprises.. You need Windows 10 current version which may have more updates later but this video editor looks better than its old version fantastic update and you can still use other free versions of video editor software but the current Windows version is smooth and simple for all users....
im waiting someone to make a portable version of it because pretty much all apps without portable version need admin rights, right? Well I somehow forced my account to be on local one and I softlocked the UAC prompt and portable apps don't need admin rights so I can use WMM without admin rights

Mine gets a 0xc0000007b error and I am so bummed as I have 500+ projects and I had it on my old windows 10 computer and this new one will no longer run it due to the error. I spent 6 hours today trying to google solutions and not a single one worked. I am beyond devastated as I could make videos for RUclips in minutes and now I have to reinvent the wheel. So upsetting.

They really need to bring Movie Maker back. I use Vegas myself, and I understand all the complicated tech stuff. But a buddy of mine wants to make simple videos, and was asking me for links to premier pro not knowing exactly what it is, smh. He wouldn't know a thing about using it, but movie maker would be so simple and easy to play with for non tech users .-.

Thanks for the video. I have no idea what happened but I had movie maker installed before I upgraded to windows 10. I took it to the pc shop to upgrade to windows 10. After it was upgraded movie maker was not in control panel nor under apps, instead it was thrown in folders at random places. so I have to search my computer for "movie maker" and "windows movie maker" and delete it EVERYWHERE and try to reinstall it. I'll check out that alternative you mentioned.

Yeah they call it CREATORS Windows but they dropped Movie Maker in order to disappoint the CREATIVE customers.

the mega download link works for me :00 my windows 10 also allows me to install it on my new laptop idk why it works only for me. i do use sony vegas but i only use windows movie maker just to put animation frames together with green screen because gifs are lagging my vegas :v

Nicely done video here Britec09 but it's outdated. Windows Movie Maker no longer available on MS site. But I followed the advice of a poster down the thread, and MS Video Editor is on Win10, and it will convert an AVI to Mp4, or save to Mp4. It seems to be similar to the old Movie Maker, but takes a bit to find the parts (looks quite different). Video Editor can all be pulled up via 'Photos' (as the poster downthread suggested).

Dear Microsoft: Windows Movie Maker 2012 worked on my Acer Windows 10 laptop and it still works. However, I am not happy with your new movie maker version because it is now a paid version to get any features while the 2012 version was nice and easy for people who cannot pay for it, where it was FREE. That made me really happy for the video editor as it was supported, I used it for any video I could edit with 4 other editors if needed such as VSDC, iMovie, InShot, and CapCut. Stop changing everything to paid versions unless you make an app related to paid items which you should do.
Movie maker and the default picture viewer from windows XP were my fave tools then they had to remove them and replace them with some crappy programs which kept hanging

click on any photo in the photo viewer, then press edit and create, then make video with sound then remove the image from project library, you have a clean, empty video editor in which you can drag and drop sound, images, and videos.

Yes you can still use Windows Live Movie Maker on Windows 7 and 8 which I have got. But I found I had to first disconnect my network so it would install offline. Because it blocks online install so the only way is to install it offline. That is not connected to the Internet then reconnect one it is installed. You can also install Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and 6 from Windows Vista and the XP Movie Maker 2.1 also works.
You need to copy the XP Movie Maker 2.1 from a Windows XP computer but Movie Maker 2.6 can be downloaded from Microsoft. All work on Windows 8 so I assume they work on Windows 10 but I have not got 10.
Dual boot with a hard drive switch...windows purchased through Kinguin on one drive for the stuff you need it for...and another drive for Linux for a secure OS...still cheaper than Windows at a retailer and 2 PC's in one

Now in picture editing on windows 10 upgrade there's a video editor hidden inside the photo editing software and it is free loads of clever things hidden in it and some surprises.. You need Windows 10 current version which may have more updates later but this video editor looks better than its old version fantastic update and you can still use other free versions of video editor software but the current Windows version is smooth and simple for all users....
im waiting someone to make a portable version of it because pretty much all apps without portable version need admin rights, right? Well I somehow forced my account to be on local one and I softlocked the UAC prompt and portable apps don't need admin rights so I can use WMM without admin rights
The link described in this tutorial doesn't exist anymore - pity! I'm still looking for an alternative because I don't like the suggested movie maker that is now available on the Microsoft shop.

Mine gets a 0xc0000007b error and I am so bummed as I have 500+ projects and I had it on my old windows 10 computer and this new one will no longer run it due to the error. I spent 6 hours today trying to google solutions and not a single one worked. I am beyond devastated as I could make videos for RUclips in minutes and now I have to reinvent the wheel. So upsetting.

They really need to bring Movie Maker back. I use Vegas myself, and I understand all the complicated tech stuff. But a buddy of mine wants to make simple videos, and was asking me for links to premier pro not knowing exactly what it is, smh. He wouldn't know a thing about using it, but movie maker would be so simple and easy to play with for non tech users .-.

Movie Maker can't start if it's installed on an edition of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 that doesn't include Windows Media Player. Go to the Get Windows Media Player webpage to get Windows 7 with Windows Media Player. To resolve this issue for a Windows 8.1 N Edition operating system, go to the Microsoft Download Center to install the Media Feature Pack for all Windows 8.1 N and KN editions.

Thanks for the video. I have no idea what happened but I had movie maker installed before I upgraded to windows 10. I took it to the pc shop to upgrade to windows 10. After it was upgraded movie maker was not in control panel nor under apps, instead it was thrown in folders at random places. so I have to search my computer for "movie maker" and "windows movie maker" and delete it EVERYWHERE and try to reinstall it. I'll check out that alternative you mentioned.
oh and it would be great if you could make a video on the DeVinci Resolve free video editor.
