I think its interesting how XcQ and Poke focus so much on the player, when watching the players he is ranked up against is more of an indicator of rank than the player themselves.
exactly cuz if ur silver and u hit ur best ace in valorant with insane flicks and the enemy is standing still and no until usage u think the player is good

If we switched perspective to the other player would you think that the previous POV's gameplay was more valid? Logically, the person we're watching is just as likely to be indicative of the rank than any other perspective. I think we're biased to assume that the person we're watching is always moving up or down in rank and everybody else is hardstuck in that rank, but they're just as likely to be moving in rank as the POV we're watching.

One way to determine the level of a chess match is by looking at how chaotic it is and the level of blunder. High level matches are all positional that it's almost boring because of the precision, kinda like a top-level LoL w/ no action. Lower level on the other hand, are chaotic and highly focused on the offense, plus the blunders are just straight up free pieces.
Yeah I was annoyed at how xQc missed all the blunders and said 1300-1500 to a game with mistakes someone rated 1000 wouldn't make

rl ranks are scuffed af, you'll have plats hitting cross map psychos then gcs bragging about hitting a musty in freeplay
It's almost like you don't need mechanics to be a certain rank! They're not scuffed, just some people neglect rotation and are therefore at their rank for their solo play ability, and then there's others who can't aerial well and are still GC because they have good game sense and rotation. There are people who don't understand that concept and that is why people think the ranks are messed up. They're actually very accurate. A lot more accurate than many other games.
I completely agree! chuck a "mechanical" champ 2 who just goes for flip resets and mustys against a "gamesense based" champ 2 who focuses solely on rotations and 50s and it'll probably be a really close match (which is impressive for psyonix to have such an accurate mmr system like this)... just goes to show how difficult it is to guess some ones rank based only on gameplay. (camera settings are the biggest giveaway imo)
but both diamonds could 100% be the same skill level. we just saw 2 absolutely complete polar opposite plays
one was a 1v1 grounded positioning 50 game the other one was a team pass play into an air dribble
first guy could have done the second clip, and second guy could have done the first clip. just 2 completely different clips from 2 completely different situations

In CSGO, you can tell if a player is either high ranked or a lower rank that's played for a long time purely based on their movement. Like if you see the DMG guy, he clearly understands the physics and how to strafe to get speed, and the global knows how to preaim one angle without overexposing himself to others. Good/experienced players are almost always extremely confident with their movement and you can see it in their gameplay.
