This was so helpful! I had no idea what those plastic things were and used the tape that came with the curio2 and it dug holes out of my mat 😢 I've been scared to try embossing ever since because I had no clue what I was doing! Thank you so much for posting videos for the new machine!
Thank you for this tutorial. i ordered the Embossing tools and mat and never opened them due to all the problems I had heard about. I opened them today and will try this design. BTW, I did not get any "plastic thingies". I will use some washi tape, as needed.
As mentioned, please don’t use washi tape. You can often get by without the plastic holders, especially if you keep your designs away from the page edge. The plastic tabs can get lost easily!
This is the Silhouette Curio 2. It was released in Fall 2023 along with the Silhouette Cameo 5, the Silhouette Cameo 5 Plus, and the Silhouette Portrait 4. They are all the latest Silhouette machine. :) You can use the embossing tools shown in the video with the Curio 2 and Cameo 5 models.
Can we etch on stainless steel and achieve fab results using the silhouette engraver tools? We bought curio 2 for the indicated power does it actually do what was represented to do? There HARDLY ANY VIDEOS USING THE POWER NEW CURIO WHY IS THAT?
Doesn't the cameo tell you what settings to use? I noticed on your blog you have the setting you use for specific but doesn't Cameo5 auto-set or tell you what settings to use? Can you please do another embossing video using cardstock, I want to see how well it embossed. Thank you so much!!
Usually you can trust the default settings, but the embossing settings are leftover from the original Curio at the moment (v 4.5.770) and force 33 is way too heavy! I’ve requested that the software be updated to fix the default embossing settings. Force 17 for paper or vellum is about the max it will do with the fine embossing tool before it starts to push through. I like the look of vellum embossing more than cardstock embossing. I find cardstock embossing is often a little too subtle and takes a little more work and experimentation. But it’s on the list of tutorials to make! We do show the results of cardstock embossing on some of the live reels with @silhouette.inc on Instagram.
The black pieces are for “print and emboss”. That’s a process where you use registration marks with print & cut, then also cut holes for registration marks as you flip the design over to emboss. The black plastic squares are placed behind the registration mark cutouts. It’s a multi-step process, and I’ll make a tutorial eventually! (If you lose the black pieces, you can substitute squares of black cardstock.)

Unfortunately, the motor that lets the Curio 2 do all kinds of specialty tasks also means some of the cuts like perforations are slower. I’ll send a request to see if they can speed up the dashed line cuts!
Finally an embossing tutorial on RUclips!! Thank you! Easy to understand and project turned out great.
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful!

Me too up to some point... I didn't intertwine the cuttings to hold better my material... lol
I can’t wait to learn what types of things my Curio 2 can do.
Super tutorial as usual Kelly ! Thanks ! Did the engraving last night…
Today the embossing 😅
Hurray!!
Thank you Kelly ! I could not find how to add the emboss action to my material ❤
So glad I could help you with that!
Hi can you also create a version for cameo 5?

Don't use washing tape, I did and ruined the mat. Learn from my error 😮
@@MimiJenkinssame here with my curio 1 so I had to buy a new one and got my curio 2 and won’t be doing the same mistake also…
@@studioplanetesilhouette glad I'm not alone🤣
Thanks

I’m looking forward to see this.
My question - is this the lastest Silhouette machine? Thank you
This is the latest/newest Curio 2 (it's for thicker materials), The Silhouette Cameo 5 and 5 pus are the new "normal height" cutting machines.
@@lici_lini- Thank you very much

Can you make it to the leather?

Can you print and emboss? With curio 2
Has anyone done wood work on the curio 2 yet?
what are the black thingy though? the ones that look like dental xrays?

Too bad the cutting area isn't big enough. can't do A3+ yet
Curio 2 needs to cut dashed lines faster. It is super slow
