wish I had caught this live. Spritz the back of the foil with a little water before you put in through the big shot. Softens the cardstock and not cuts through. I sure that you know this by know! Thank you for all that you do! You are amazing, and so much fun!
Oh my gosh Jennifer! What an absolute honour to wake up to! Thank you so much for watching and learning through my video, as well as sharing it with your incredible community 😍😍 I hope absolutely every single one of you have many happy embossing projects ahead 😍😍
Thank YOU for your awesome tutorial! My embossing on the Cricut worked as soon I lowered my pressure to NOT be Kraft board. I was just too distracted during the live video to remember to do that. Your directions were perfect. :)
@@JenniferMaker I also think since Kelly is from South Africa the offset should be 0.05 cm not inches. I hadn’t caught it during the live but I thought you selected Kraft Board also so I’m glad you caught that.
This is awesome. I have wanted to get into doing this but it is very intimidating for sure. You are always so generous with your giveaways, thank you so much.
I used a CuttleBug for years and LOVED it. It was a great little machine. I was sad when it was discontinued but many great ones have been brought out since....like the Gina K Design Intri-Cut.
So great you explains and sharing different techniques! I love my Big Kick and I can emboss small metallbites for necklaces etc with mini embossingfolders.
When embossing foil cardstock "always" use another pad to put onto of the foil before closing the embossing folder. I always cut up my Amazon padded envelopes to put in inside the embossing folder on top of the foil so it doesn't tear the foil. Comes out perfect every time.
Sorry I missed the live. When you put your platform and embossing folder into the big shot, be sure that the hinge of the embossing folder goes in first, leaving the open end of the embossing folder to exit last so it will release the pressure. I think that small crinkle in your sample was because the embossing folder went thru the big shot with the open end first. Hope that makes sense. Happy Holidays.
Jennifer, if you give the Big shot a chance - you will love cutting out dies as much as the Cricut, and you won’t have to trouble yourself with setting up your laptop and Cricut, I think that both have equal merit, thank you for the tutorial, you looked and sounded just like me when I first used my Big shot 😊
Thank you for learning us/me. Learnd a lot from you. Just uppackad a cricut maker3😊😊. My first cricut so are a newbee. Thank for showing me what I can do with it❤
HAPPY MERRY MAKER MINGLE Jennifer, greg n team. TY for all you've done and prepared for this event.. Can't wait to see whats in store daily.. PS Jennifer love seeing the shoes..
I use my Explore Air 2 to cut "embossing folders" or "embossing plates" out of cereal boxes and then put them through an old Cuttlebug I found second hand.(Embossing folder: 2 sides that go under and over the cardstock, the shapes are glued on one side and the "negative" on the other side. Embossing "plates" : only one "sheet" with the shapes glued on) I found the right "sandwich" after a few tests, I use a few cereal box "shims" to adjust for the right thickness/pressure. For the embossing "plate", I use a silicone mat in the sandwich : cereal box embossing plate-> cardstock->silicone mat, the mat is pushed in the nooks and crannies, shaping the cardstock. To get better embossing and reduce tearing, you can spritz a little water on the cardstock before embossing. When doing "manual embossing", try following the contour of the shapes with the stylus (especially if using a stencil). Also, if you have a plastic embossing folder, try closing it over the cardstock and using a rolling pin...
If it's a 3D folder you may need to play with your sandwich, plates and shims till it goes, but it will feel tight sometimes. You'll want a rubber mat if you're going to emboss w/ dies. You can ink up your folders too. If you spray the paper with a light mist of water it helps avoid tearing
There should be a slight difference in thickness between the two clear plates for use with thicker dyes and embossing folders. If you're having a problem with finding the right thickness you can just use card stock stacked to make up the difference. Just little cheats to help :)
Don’t throw away the black cap, you will need to put it back in if you are giving the machine away! Good luck to the winner, you will love the Big shot, I have had mine for just a few months and I love it 😍

Kelly Rousseau
Is in South Africa! Very good with Cricut !
Oops! You're right! Thank you!
I love the options, maybe they would all emboss more boldly if you cut the card stock the exact size of the embossing pad, rather than over hanging? ❤
Thank you very much!
Can’t wait to try this!
Love Merry Mingle
