I love your pantry meals and meals-in-a-jar! They are practical, and my husband always enjoys them! It's just the 2 of us, so we usually (but not always!) have leftovers for another meal. I keep all of them written in a small notebook (I'm filling a second one!) and I have added some of the recipes I've made in the past, or ones I come across that sound good and look simple enough. I've always been a from-scratch (or nearly) cook, and make up my own often. But every so often, I have a really hard time choosing what to make. So this really helps. Thank you, Jinne!
We make Fiesta Rice with Spam: Cubed spam, chopped bacon and a large onion diced & cooked up well in a fry pan, add canned chicken and a jar of pimientos then stir it up. Add cooked rice and mix well. Add soy sauce to the whole skillet and stir. Serve with green onions sprinkled on top. This tastes great as a reheated left over but does not freeze well. I have kept mine in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Currently at my local Walmart to buy all these items for seven meals (including 2 cans of diced potatoes to replace your beautiful home canned ones and a 2# bag of rice) is $29.79 without spices, $33.07 with adding one GV minced onion, Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Pretty cheap week of meals if you had to, or an extra $30-$33 to add 7 meals to the pantry. This is how I’ve built my pantry… one shelf stable meal at a time!
That's why planning meals in advance is so important. It enables you to plan what you need to stock up on, allows you to buy only what you need to buy, and minimises waste.
Top Ramen noodles made into soup, use the flavor packet, with scrambled egg cooked flat like a pancake, spam thin sliced spears, green onions. Cut the egg pancake into strips, also good to put the green onion in the eggs. Top your ramen with the eggs and spam and it is delicious. Hawaiians call it Saimin.
Thanks for the pantru meals! They make great Meals in a Bag. Just get some 2.5-gallon zip lock bsgs and put everything in it. That way, when you get readu to make the meal (or give it to someone in need), you don't have to look all over for the ingredients.
Make a weekly menu! it allows you to use and cycle thru your food storage in a timely manner. Great ideas to start your 7 days weekly menu with this one. Thanks.
I like to make a weekly menu and put it up on a dry erase board. I fell behind this week and after working in the garden all day on Monday, hadn't even thought about dinner. I was able to throw together chicken alfredo with broccoli with things from pantry and some broccoli from the freezer. It was a 20 minute dinner and was nearly all homemade including the noodles. Thanks for these ideas, because sometimes I just need a couple of ideas ready to go.
We like your videos, thank you. Good meal plans. We like any recipe with salmon or tuna. We picked up two packs of can salmon today at Costco it's pricey but it's all cleaned so each can goes a long way for us. The vac sealed frozen salmon fillets only five per bag were up to $35.99 ! We passed on those. Prices are climbing. Our Dollar Tree was packed yesterday. Sign of the times.
i love black beans and rice. ill marinate flat iron or flank steak(when i can find it on markdown) in mojo...ill simmer the black beans with onions and spices. top it with some of the jarred Badia chimichurri...its delicious!
@ valkyrieocean The solution is to stock a variety of interchangeable food that you really like to eat. Spices are also instrumental in reducing food fatigue.
Those are 7 great quick meal ideas Jinne.👍 I've used Spam in Carbonaras before, just cube it really small & fry it first in a little Ghee, gives it a nice buttery flavour, then toss it in the sauce once ready, & lastly stir in the cooked Pasta. Quick & yum. TFS HC, take care & keep really busy everyone. ❤️🙂🐶
Thank you for the ideas Jinne! I have Spam in my stockpile and need to start using some. I love a good pantry meal and they're easy on the wallet. Great suggestions!
SPAM - SPiced hAM. You can also make and can your own to control what goes in it. Plus, if you look at the can, it is one of the few foods that does not include bioengineered (cancer) ingredients.
When I make beans and rice, I throw in a half cup salsa. Yum!

To make the salmon cakes shelf stable, swap out egg with 1/2 of a can of canned potatoes mashed into the mix to bind.
I do not understand why people don’t like spam. I love it sliced thin and fried crispy. Just as good as bacon🇺🇸❤️
I love it too but I have noticed that in the past there has been rumors that spam is made out of junk meat. Too many people believed that.
Finally someone who appreciates Spam 😂😂
The only replacement for bacon...is BACON.
Me too! It has to be crispy though. 😋
I love Spam. Been eating it all my life. It’s a treat! I even like it cold!

Great meal ideas.👍 Instead of bread crumbs, we love how crunchy Panko is on top of casseroles.😋

It's hard to find, but Canned Cod Fish is Also great Patties. My Gma used to make them for us Years ago. They were awesome.
I've never seen canned cod, I know I would love it!
Thanks for these great prepper pantry meal ideas! They all sound so good and easy to make.
We like to add Old Bay Seafood seasoning to the black beans and rice. It is good and a different take on the Bean's and rice.

Sorry, I just can't do Something Pretending As Meat...SPAM.
SPAM - SPiced hAM. You can also make and can your own to control what goes in it. Plus, if you look at the can, it is one of the few foods that does not include bioengineered (cancer) ingredients.
Spam is meat, read the label. A lot of sodium do it should be an
Occasional meal
