It is a privelege to be in this position you are in. Not many are afforded those opportunities due to their socio-economic situation. I just graduated high school and could not afford higher ed and had to start working. And after working 10 plus hours a day I have no time or energy left for anything else.
This is a weird response. A lot of people that enter the higher ed space are from low income backgrounds and look to education for upward mobility. I couldn’t afford a regular college experience straight from high school so I went to community college and got a job. I finished my BA by taking out loans and paid for my MA out of pocket because the program was online and more affordable. Many PhD programs in the US are fully funded because the schools provide students with fellowships and assistantship jobs. Nothing in her video read as anything but an informational discussion on what to expect when trying to apply for grad school. I was a first-gen and a lot of this information wouldve been helpful for me years ago.
