Asalamu Alykum, Ramadan Mubarak! I agree that it is very difficult to have alone time as a parent to worship the way you want to or replicate what you may have done in the past. What I have learnt and an reminded of is that when we perform our everyday duties with the intention it is for Allah and when we try to for example better our family relationships, or control how we respond to certain circumstances, or be patient with our kids when we are really busy etc that this is still a form of beautiful worship. It is difficult but Alhamdulilah it allows us to still constantly remember our creator not only in those few minutes of solitude we may get on a day. Love this podcast. May Allah bless you, your family and all members and contributors of Yaqeen institute.
The heart is the ocean of our spirituality and the place where we experience love for Allah and the prophet. It is where we experience any purity and light. It is so vast. Allah is too vast to fit inside the universe but he can only be contained within the hearts of sincere believers. Seven rivers to the ocean of the heart. All of these are rivers to the ocean of the heart. If you actually stop any impurity from travelling to the rivers is that it will never reach the ocean of the heart. We have to control the rivers that flood into the oceans. 1) Tongue/mouth: The very first wrong committed had to do with what we put in our mouth. It’s about the consciousness or heedlessness that comes as a result of what we put in our mouth. Either we eat unconsciously/ or actively stopping eating requires consciousness. Fasting raises your consciousness and will make you think about how much you overindulge or how you do in excess. What we eat and enters our bodies affects our spirituality. 2) Eyesight: Eyes are the windows to the soul and heart. Control what you watch. Zina also happens with the emaan and takes the emaan from your heart through your eye as long as you are watching it (shaytaan does this). It raises your level of your humanity. You are concerned about protecting someone’s dignity and your own. Hayaa comes from life itself. That begins with what we watch. 3) Ears: what we listen to. Backbiting, slander, gossiping, inappropriate lyrics. Things you hear can deeply poison the heart. It can harden your heart to the entire ummah. Have a serious protection around your ears. 4) Hands: very conscious of who we harm with our hands. Not stealing, not taking something that is ours. Conscious about not receiving haram wealth and haram earnings. Allah doesn’t answer prayers of the one whose clothing is haram, whose food is haram and whose wealth is haram. 5) Stomach 6) Feet: Where are you going. Who are your friends? Where are you going? If your companionship is righteous and those above you in knowledge etc as you inhale from them you also become better. 7) Private parts
