It manages to turn the mundane lives of people into something grandiose and epic - like the author has this insane, profound ability to make things that don’t seem interesting completely engrossing.
@@SarahLavenderASMR you should check out “Olympus, Texas” by Stacey Swann. I just finished it and it was incredible. A generational tale set in a single week, and every character has a Greek parallel; even the local pub is called Terpsichore’s!
Your light blue nails against the back of the King Arthur book cover was just mesmerizing! Those colors matched perfectly, and sent shivers down my spine✨
Anne of Green Gables was my favorite book when I was growing up. Anne is so positive and enthusiastic that she makes me smile, even when things aren't going her way.
I've never been able to read books because I just can't concentrate. Maybe it's my autism. I really wish I could read because the idea of sitting down with a book suits me perfectly. I do enjoy audiobooks though and maybe I need to explore more audiobooks. Anyway, you're awesome, Sarah. I hope things are going well in Mexico for you :)

Definitely audiobooks. I started reading again 2 years ago using exclusively audiobooks and I love it. Best time to the day is when I'm listening to one.
I used to read books like crazy when I was younger. Really from elementary school until college- and then I just got busy and life got in the way, and I struggle to pick up a book nowadays. When I do, I usually finish it really quickly, and then don't read again for awhile. I'm fascinated by them still though, and always trying to collect them. Love hearing about new and different books, and the papery sounds from them are very relaxing!
I think this is super common! I also read less than I did as a kid. Sometimes it seems like a chore, but I try to consider it a healthy habit and it helps me power through some more boring bits of books. If you wanna get back into it, try a shorter, fast-paced book with tons of good reviews!
This was great Sarah, your book videos are some of my favourites. You're getting really good throwing in different triggers throughout! The finger flutters were enough to keep me listening to the whole audible ad in the beginning
The once and future king is brilliant! I think it's actually a series of books published together. I've read the first three, and the Sword in the Stone is one of my favourite books. And if you loved Earthsea, you'll love this! Great video.
I read Pillars of the Earth years ago and two things I can recall is that is was an amazing story and also that I’ve rarely ever hated an evil character as much as I did in that book!
If you haven’t read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho yet I highly recommend it! It’s absolutely chock full of amazing quotes, it’s a nice quick read, and it’s a perfect story to read right as you’ve moved to a new city/country!
I hope you love Anne of Green Gables Sarah. It was one of my favorites as a young girl and if you do, you need to check out the PBS series done earlier than Anne with an E. Love it (also good but the first has a special place in my heart) and I agree about Little Women, it was never as engaging to me!!💕💕
You are right about "Conversations with Friends" being adapted into a TV show ! They have already announced the cast, and it's made by the same creative team that made the "Normal People" TV show ! Production will begin in the coming months ! Great video btw, your books videos are the best !
Fantastic video as always. I get the best ASMR when someone is talking really in depth about stuff. My recommendation would be my favourite book if you haven't already tried it: Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. It can be hard going at first but it's written in such a different format and the six stories across time are all incredible. The first book I read I can describe as beautiful.
Yay!!! Your book videos are my favorite type of video you make! I’m a bookworm and these help me to relax and fall asleep better than just about anything. I can’t wait to watch it in just a moment! Thank you so much for making this video!!!
So happy to get another book themed video! Also Conversations with Friends is apparently getting adapted into a tv show for Hulu right now, it was announced just a few days ago! Much love from Dublin❤️
I'm so late commenting this but if you'd like a nice book recommendation of a narrative that follows the perspective of a child, I'd highly suggest "Kramp", by María José Ferrada. she is a Chilenian author that has always written children's books, and Kramp is her first novel directed to a larger audience. it's wonderful, really! it follows the little girl M and her father D not only through their own adventures as salesmen, but also the cenarious of the political changes going on in Chile at their time. it's short and beautiful, definitely worth cheking it out! :)
Just bought The Brothers Karamazov :0 I'll admit I'm a bit intimidated by his writing haha. I've heard Russian authors are infamous for their amount of characters to keep track of (who in turn, all have nicknames)...
If you're into fantasy/science fiction, I highly recommend reading the Grimnoir Chronicles series by Larry Correia, I'm listening to it on audible while I work currently and it's excellent!
Coming back a few months later to let you know that I’m halfway through Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close as per your review and I ABSOLUTELY agree!! The writing is phenomenal…. I’ve begun highlighting sections that resonate with me. Thanks for the recommendation and I hope for more!!

The message behind it is very deep in my opinion, and it's written beautifully ~The song of Achilles. A very very sad book, of course it doesn't "respect" all of the details from the Iliad, but it's really fascinating and also super super sad. ~Pollyanna. A very peculiar story in my opinion.
