At this time when recording contracts were being signed and first albums being made, the Liverpool bands were known to help each other out in the recording studio. I know the Beatles sometimes helped out on tracks they had given away. Don’t know what they might have done on covers, such as this, which were plentiful on all their first albums. What I do know (by ear not info) is that one of the key singers in this unusual arrangement is not George.
Having an almost lifetime experience of loving and listening to the Beatles this definitely sounds like George. Great voice, great version, best band of all time.

He sounds more like John, but he does have a rather smooth voice like Paul, and a timbre somewhere inbetween. His accent is also thicker than John and Paul's accents.

George was 18 when this was recorded. The Decca audition took place on 1 January 1962, and George turned 19 on 25 February. Paul was 19, John 21 and Pete Best 20.
He certainly was, on the album Meet The Beatles it said on the cover. That not only was he the youngest but a handsome young man as well. Yet they were jealous of Pete Best because he was popular with the girls. Pete Best was the Beatle that time forgot.

But of course Pete did what he had to to make it through life. He mentioned a while back and I believe on the David Letterman Show . They passed the Beatles along way and he said that they didn't acknowledge his presence. Pete Best said he always was sad about it.
