George was the most confident on the Decca recordings. We tend to think of George's talent slowly emerging from John and Paul's shadow over the course of the Beatles recording career, but it's worth remembering in the years 1960 to 62 John Paul and George took equal alternate lead vocal duties, it was only with the start of their recording career, with George not writing yet that he got knocked back to one or two leads per album. I personally think by Abbey road he should have been doing equal shares again.
