This song is (so I'm told) THE christmas song in the Phillipines. And they start doing christmas stuff in september! Perfect choice to do with Lea who is from there (and was the intended singer on the original recording but wasn't allowed to with label conflicts). Such a good fit on their holidays around the world album. Also, I have a feeling that Scott got a bit extra cred among his in-laws (Mark, his husband, is filipino!).
Thank you for the great reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. They are all incredible.
I just came across this reaction and I am surprised that there are so few views. Love your comments. Thank you for reacting to this Christmas song. Lea's voice is absolutely angelic and Pentatonix as always are amazing.
Love this!

There's a video short about this. Kirstie was very pregnant and when Lea saw her she wanted to touch her belly. ruclips.net/user/shortsaS3Uy05iU3g?feature=share
On first listen, this was probably my least favorite from the 2022 "Holidays Around the World" album -- beautifully sung and arranged but a relatively simple song, simple arrangement, no PTX surprises. But on researching the song and finding out how iconic this song, and songwriter Jose Mari Chan, are in the Philippines, I understood how respectful PTX is being about how meaningful this is to that culture. I heard that Jose Mari Chan wrote this hoping that Salonga could sing it, but she was too busy at the time doing Miss Saigon.
As someone else commented - Jose Mari Chan originally asked Lea to record this with him but they were on different record labels and she wasn’t allowed to do it (though she wanted to record it).
Nice reaction. Please note that her name is pronounced LAY-ah (not Lee-ah).
