      Ezekiel Eyes what’s the difference between hard contact lenses the smaller ones that lay on the cornea

    • @ezekieleyes4550
      @ezekieleyes4550  4 года назад

      @@gerardorodriguez9740 Thanks for your question! The smaller lenses, sometimes known as RGP lenses or corneal lenses, lay on the cornea.
      Hard contact lenses include these, but also larger lenses (e.g. miniscleral and scleral lenses).
      Usually, we aim to fit the smaller lenses first, and then fit the larger lenses if needed.
      Does this make sense?

      Ezekiel Eyes I have keratoconus and I need to use the hard contact lenses, so I wold be able to use either or?

      @ezekieleyes4550  4 года назад

      Gerardo Rodriguez Yes, you may be able to wear RGP/corneal lenses, miniscleral lenses or scleral lenses for Keratoconus.
      Each of these types ‘smoothes’ our the surface of your eye, thanks to the normal tear layer over your eyes.

    Why aren't they for everyone? Are some people unsuitable for scleral lenses, and if so why?

    • @ezekieleyes4550
      @ezekieleyes4550  4 года назад +4

      Hi Liam, Scleral Lenses are a great option because they give a new surface for the front of the eye. They are great for any distortion of the front of the eye. They give a comfortable micro-environment with tears over the cornea too.
      However, Scleral Lenses may not be right for you if you have a small eye socket. They are relatively large lenses- some people with small eyes may find them hard to put in and out.
      Scleral lenses are also a bigger investment than corneal rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses.
      For other people, Scleral lenses can give great comfort and eyesight. If you want to book an appointment, feel free to tap on the link in the Description near this video. All the best!

    Hello. I'm a 35 year's old Keratoconus patient. I've have Keratoconus in both eyes, one worse than the other. Since I needed to see better to do my tasks, I went to fit GP contact lenses and Scleral lenses both, but the doctors couldn't fit the right lenses for me. In fact I see the results with GP lenses and Sclerals were worse then my glasses (the result was more blurry and with multiple vision with some shades around objects). Why this happens? May I have any chance with GPs or Sclerals at all?

    hello Sir
    how many hours a day can you use these lenses?
    same as soft lenses from early morning till night, or not ?
    can the eye still breath behind this big lens?
    any negatives or only positive news ?
    thank you

      Hi GT86
      Thank you for your enquiry.
      All contact lenses wearing times vary depending on the person and their personal situation/environment/health issues.
      I have some patients wear their contact lenses all day and some only 8 hours. This is for soft, corneal rigid and scleral lenses.
      The lens material in the scleral lenses is a very healthy material that does breathe.
      There are pros and cons with all contact lenses and this is a conversation that needs to take place with the patient and understanding the individually of that patient.
      I hope this helps.
      Kind regards,
      The Ezekiel Eyes Team.

    I have -18D in power and am wondering if these lenses would be a possible route to pursue when searching for contact lenses?

    • @ezekieleyes4550

      Hi Liam, the great thing about scleral lenses is that they are customised for your eyes. There are almost unlimited powers available. -18D shouldn't be a problem. Feel free to give us a call to chat more about Scleral Lenses (see the Description near this video). Cheers!

    Thanks a lot for the info. My eyes get red with a specific brand of scleral lenses. Another brand does not cause red eyes but provides blurry vision. Can the lenses material cause a kind of allergic reaction or can it be the solution which cause redness?

    • @ezekieleyes4550
      @ezekieleyes4550  4 года назад +1

      Hi Kia,
      It is very unusual to have a reaction to the material of the gas permeable materials.
      It could be the solution you are using?
      I think you next step is to be evaluated and look at what your options are.
      Where do you live and hopefully I can recommend someone for you to consult with?
      All the best.

    Sir your thoughts on ortho k after icl procedure? Would the ortho k lens be pressing too hard against the cornea and causing my cornea to touch the icl lens and result in endothelial cell loss?

    • @ezekieleyes4550
      @ezekieleyes4550  4 года назад +1

      Hi Sam
      Many thanks for your question.
      The molding effects of orthok lenses is very minimal and effects the anterior portion of the conrea.
      I do not know of any endothelial loss from orthok lenses and implantable contact lenses
      Of course we are all individuals and close inspection of your eyes by your eyecare practitioner and continual monitoring is crucial for all patients.
      I hope this helps.
      Cheers Damon
