    Of all the beta content I watched for BFA, you are the one that was right about almost everything. You saw the issues, knew how players would react, where the content would get stale, everything. BFA literally played out like your beta content said it would. Blizzard lost out here.

    Blizzards complete lack of appreciation for loyal players & influencers continues to baffle and infuriate me.
    The punishment doesn’t fit the crime and the only one who has disappointed me is Blizzard. They should have regular influencer summits regularly it should never have taken the game reaching such a low point for them to do this. Such a waste on their part.

      The crime itself is not the objective for the punishment, its because he is an influencer and a beacon of WOW that his punishment is big, he was talking about it(the exploit)and condoned his actions live on stream and explained to everyone what he did and how to do it. thats the real problem. he keeps saying that he didnt think blizzard cared but he totally knew what he did was totally wrong. so i have no empathy for him right now. Actions have concequences and he should just take them on the chin instead of sitting here and feel selfpity and brood on his own mistakes, yes he has some good ideas but he is not that only one that has good ideas. he should just take that document and publish it and start his own discussion.

      @@toychristopher You're asking the wrong question.
      Can someone who exploits a system that no one particularly cares about be a loyal player/fan? Yes.
      Preach has owned up to the fact that he shouldn't have exploited a broken system. But did this put him at an unfair advantage or hurt the enjoyment of others? No. And he understands he deserved the ban for it.
      But Blizzard is biting their own nose to spite their face, and this situation shows that the influencer get-together was less about making the game better, and more about free publicity for the new patch.
      I'm not saying Blizzard doesn't care about their game, but this situation shows me they care more about positive publicity and less about the game.

    • @AwefulWaffle88
      @AwefulWaffle88 5 лет назад +2

      @@christianhvorslev5791 He's not stewing in self-pity though. And he's not brooding. He's apologizing.
      The thing he's regretful for is that these ideas couldn't be discussed with the developers openly with other MAJOR players of WoW. That's MORE useful than just publishing them online.
      So the issue here is not that this is a deserved punishment for Preach (that's debatable depending on the person), it's that Blizzard is biting their own nose to spite their face. They have a chance to make their game better, but they threw that away out of what I can only assume is pettiness.

      I disagree, even though Blizzard would benefit greatly from mike being there, there is never an excuse for people to exploit any bugs and not get punished for it. If someone sees the opportunity to commit a crime and chooses to do it, they should not complain about the consequences they receive. It is impossible for blizzard to detect all the bugs in the game and coding is not as simple as people think. Everytime you add a new code, there is a chance it may fuck up another piece of code somewhere else, blizzard should have dealt with the issue right away, but that shoudn't be an excuse for everyone who used the xp bug.

    • @GoddessShiva
      @GoddessShiva 5 лет назад +9

      @@kevinmcboyle Blizzard could simply put out a message that it is a bug and exploiting it has it's consequences instead they let it brew for days and people got banned due to bandwagoning along. Honestly Blizzard could have done a better job to tell people they were aware of it cause that alone makes people understand it better and not try out that gray zone.
      Second that so many thousands of people are using that exp potion bug is just a sign how terrible the leveling experience is right now. Perhaps they need to look at all those scaling changes they made. Last time I played it felt more like a hurdle that I wasn't able to cross for the heritage armor I wanted cause it just felt like it took three times as long.

      @kippies66 5 лет назад +9

      @@kevinmcboyle Except they were made aware of this bug for a long while. There was no communication from them acklowledging it, let along telling people not to make use of it. So, this meant that they would probably silently fix it, like they often do when they are not communicating. When this is the case people using the bug would not be punished either, unless it's in a competetive scene.
      Alas, the opposite was true.

    • @thewolf1256
      @thewolf1256 5 лет назад +4

      Yeah, I agree, they should have put out a punishment, but I am not so sure the punishment fits the crime to this degree. They in my opinion, reduced their footing in justifying this sort of response. Especially when they didnt say anything about the problem for a few days, how hard would have been to just remove the potion entirely? They sure were quick enough to respond to some chicken dance however.
      With that said, I feel bad for Mike, he definitely feels the consequences of it, and still remains one of my favorite streamers/youtubers.

But it's a damn potion that helped people level up a few alts. Big deal. That exploit can and would have had negative consequences on Blizzard, who are a company and are profit driven. If blizzard takes a loss, their employees get laid off to make up for the money loss. They restructure to try and make some money back.
      You state, not a negative game experience, but Blizzard runs on money, its employees need to be paid, investors need a return and this exploit would have cut directly into their income by making levelling far far easier than it was intended, resulting in less levelling services being used, meaning less income for Blizzard.

      @Rodoet001 5 лет назад +3

      @@dean9118 Mate, claiming that Blizzard employees will suffer if they run out of money is moot when Blizzard fires employees even when they are making bank. What's worse is that they put up those positions again shortly after as well as paid Ninja a ton of money to do a promotion. Believe you me, they couldn't give less of a shit about their employees. On top of that, most of their money comes from subscriptions and microtransactions from the in-game store, not from people leveling. And that hinges on content, not time spent leveling since it's already super fucking easy to get to end game with how much the game rushes you towards it now-days. And that's just WoW, then you take into consideration how much cash they are getting from their other franchises like Hearthstone and Overwatch, both which are franchises that are practically printing money for Blizzard.
      Don't defend Blizzard, they neither deserve your effort nor care about it. They are a huge, souless, mega successful company and they don't know who you or I are, and they don't give a shit about any of us. Their employees don't gain anything from your effort, and they are no safer if Blizzard is making bank than if they weren't. If Blizzard could do all of this without a single employee they would.
      Preach fucked up. That much is true. But he was punished harshly over something really minor because Blizzard over-reacted and was probably looking for a reason to cut ties because he wasn't praising them at every turn. At most, this was something you issued warnigs about and punished those that continued afterwards until you patched it. Not what happened here.

      @ArgentumEmperio 5 лет назад +2

      I'm a month late to watching this video due to me unsubscribing to Preacher for a myriad of reasons but... I'm gonna let you in on a little secret:
      No one made a comparison between stealing a candy bar and a 10 year prison sentence. For several reasons, one of the biggest ones is that _stealing_ has consequences based on the cost of what you stole; there would be a consequence for stealing a candy bar if you were caught on but at most, it'd be shoplifting - most commonly, it'd be a slap on the wrist and a broom shooing you out of the door.
      However... what if you have been let on by that same store that you are going to get to test their newest line of candy bars.
      Do you think it is justified in that case that _they broke the store's trust INTENTIONALLY_ and thus' a harsher punishment can be made? Except, in this case... the real punishment ontop of that slap-to-shoplifting charge also not getting to try out their newest line of candybars?
      Sure... this is a video game. Blizzard on the other hand is a multi-billion company that is about to release an update for one of the most influential pieces of software that has existed in the past 15 years, one that literally millions of people to this day still care about.
      You think _those_ might care just a _bit_ more about one of their most trusted community content-makers promoting an exploit, mocking them essentially on stream and doing this _AFTER_ having received the said invite?
      ... let me tell you something else... one of the reasons why I quit watching Preacher on a regular basis is because of you. Or well, folks like you.
      What I just said is common sense and it'll be ignored in favour of memes where crap like "If someone steals a candybar and gets a 10 year prison sentence" will be said instead of "hey, Preacher exploited the game intentionally knowing he was doing it because... others were doing it" ...
      Great logic.

      Personally? Yeah I think its bs and they should have just invited him anyways, but the core issue lies with them delaying the fix for the exploit and then rolling out the bans after, and then having to uphold a public image according to the bans and their company view on the XP exploit. Keep in mind they always held the stance that the bans were justified.

      Come on, it's victimless in the sense it didn't directly effect anyone but to say nobody was or that the game isn't is ridiculous and is exactly the reason that the phrase "exploit early, exploit often" came to prominence, no exploit really effects players that they get banned for in the same way.
      Botting doesn't effect anyone else either, also used for leveling, do you think bots should be banned? I assume a counter argument to be something like "it's automated so it's wrong" then what about something like a pilot for a mythic dungeon like some of the realm first 15s were done or for PVP. Was exploiting Ivus wrong? It didn't effect anyone else that you got loot. It's stupid to me that in the absolute best case scenario Blizzard didn't care and that somehow is a justification or that the same people scream from the rooftops about Ivus or bots or pilots then say that this banning was unjust.

Thats why preach said "you shouldnt have wasted a ban wave on it" basically by making it an official mark against those customers they are then forced to follow through with what it entails.
      Although this is always sketchy as they basically said "we are punishing customer" whereas normally they should only be punishing the account (whiich is only OWNED by a customer). • @S4NoctiS
      @S4NoctiS 5 лет назад +1

      Obviously it's not true, they could have him there for whatever reason they want just as they can and did decide not to have him there for petty reasons. Nobody can stop them from inviting someone to their personal event(Attempting so would be illegal, at least where I live) and him streaming that exploit certainly didn't cost them so much money that it was physically impossible for them to invite him.
      The problem with permanently exiling an influencer who keeps people playing your game is that you lose the people who only play because of that person and they're just scared and overreacting without thinking shit through. If they thought shit through they would've realized that issuing a personal punishment made it look like malicious intent against preach and alienated most people anyway.
