Garlic swordsman are often overlooked in history because of their "big brother" - the Gallic swordsman. Nevertheless Garlic swordsman are fearsome warriors and should not be taken carelessly.
It needed to be said. Some people think the Oracle pairs well with ToA. Guaranteed +1 happiness in all cities. Only, The Oracle is still just fundamentally terrible. Hanging Gardens is 100 shields cheaper, lasts much longer, and gives local happiness as well as the same +1 in all cities.
The happiness gambit it very useful in general. Submarine defensive 'expenditure-leecher strat' on archipelago or continents version vs. 1 or 2 superior foes. It's perhaps somewhat weakly analogous to '50 bombers' aggressive 'I-win-strat', but this only ideal if you are in pursuit of a typical runaway civ with superior land. Not an exact wide strategy per se, but more like a unit based gambit. It worked for me (seafaring) draining the leading civ (aztecs) so that I eventually caught up to them and stirred up the diplo situation with other civs. Declare war, and the basic premise is to utilize standard subs as sea defense to take out transports, which mounts your enemies unit cost and production. Civs also seem to switch government as a response.
i don't know if this is specific to the flintlock mod i'm using, but when my temple of artemis outdated and i lost the temples, i also lost all the cathedrals
The wonder stack is cool to watch on a yt video, but in my experience i'm lucky to be able to build even a single wonder. AI always beat me to it. I begin a palace in my second city and then rush to great library.
Hey, can anyone help me with the conquest scenario editor?? I was editing the Middle Ages scenario to be able to play with all civilizations, but I don't know why, all cities and units disappeared from the map. Now when i start a new game there is no city and no unit and i just cant play the scenario anymore.
@@suedeciviii7142 Yes i saved It 😭. But i ended up making the drastic decision to delete the game and reinstall it. Its working again, although I lost the saved files, but oh well, It was Just a few anyway. But thank you very much for answering and I really like the channel, its awesome.
I tried wonder stacking but on the higher end difficulties i cant out tech/out build some of the wonders, even with re builds and or just perfect land for a capital. What difficulty do you reckon for wonder stacking?
I have won 1 city wonder stacking on emperor, (I only build 1 city, and don't capture any). that is just with really good land - but not modded - then I modded a map to give myself an absoluetly perfect start and after a few tries won with only 1 city on demigod.
so it is possible on higher difficulties, - but I would just work your way up - start 1-2 difficulties below where you regularly play and work your way up.
I am very stuck in my ways with Civ and pretty much always play it safe. I don’t even have the guts to play the harder difficulty levels!!! In other words I’m a Civ Wimp
You've done a basics video on the editor and you've made your own mod but some pieces are still missing. Can you start a series going in-depth about how to use obscure elements of the scenario editor, such as how to make a custom civilopedia entry or custom units?
Staying tuned for that war chariot breakdown. Suspecting that the low tier rating has something to do with that short blurb about resetting if you don't have horses nearby, since the war chariot isn't particularly viable if you aren't rushing it ASAP.
You can do a rush off of 8 cities or whatever it's just a more complicated strategy than "literally just stack attack their capital". You are right though that the strat is more sensitive to tempo than iroq/persia/rome/celts though.
Yes! Glad I could prove how good they are. If anything it was more effective after waiting, because I was able to capture cities and wonders instead of just raising them.
@@suedeciviii7142 Thanks for this! BTW, have you considered doing a video specifically on key shortcuts and/or other tips in order to speed up your gameplay by eliminating wasted effort (e.g. zooming out on the map when using bombers to stop the viewport on the map moving so you have to reposition before the next unit's attack)? I know there's a PDF on Civ Fanatics, but I wonder what else you or other advanced players use in addition to that. Thanks for the tutorials; I've learned quite a lot so far.
Has anyone else encountered a problem where when they try to start the game it loads for a few seconds and crashes? This just started happening tonight. Game was running fine a few days ago. :(
@@suedeciviii7142 No when I go into the steam menu for civ 3 and I click the big "green play button" it turns blue and says "stop," the game seems to load briefly but then it doesn't and the blue stop button says "play" and turns green again. There's no warning or error message that the game "can't load" or anything like that. It just doesn't even start.
@@99oildrops Ah I've had that happen. Ctrl-Alt-Delete both civ 3 and steam. Make sure to get rid of both, maybe even do a full computer restart. Then try again.
Wait, the Enkidu warrior is the highest rated unit by the AI? I double-dog dare you to get a city in a Peace Treaty from an AI civ WITHOUT ever attacking them using the Sumerians.
So re-reading this comment so many months later I may have been a bit over-zealous. That being said, I still dare you to play a game of Asshole-Sumeria on a low difficulty level and see if you can extort the other civs in your peace deals.
I played the war chariot rush tactic and I have some conclusions. Firstly I think that this tactic is very good for smaller maps, sth below large type. But I tried it on the huge pangea map, 70% water (emperor) and I am not too excited. I mean, it got worse after I destroyed the Byzantines. Beating them was very pleasure, they had only 5 or 6 cities, so I beat them quickly. Then I wanted to beat someone else, so I marched on the French, but at that time, they had already over 10 cities and quite big army, so beating them wasn't to fast. Whats more, after I burned two french cities, I noticed that the Iroquois was willing to take city spots after French, for what I couldn't allow. So I declared on the Iroquois too. And yeah, I could fight with both of them, but i would take too much time, other civs from the continent also were sending settlers to my land. Additionally i fell behind in tech a bit, due to teching on 40/50%. I think that whole situation happened because I hooked my horses too late. Also I discovered the wheel quite late (I dont know why xD). Also my chariots had to go a long way from The Byzantines to the French. I think that the size of the map is the key here. Civs are too far from each other, its easy to be surrounded by the others. If you have some tips for me, I would love you to save them with me and maybe I will try this map one more time. Wishes!

Glad to hear it! More videos to come still.

Is it true that war weariness is bugged for AI? I just read some about it on civfanatics
I haven't heard that, but I'd believe it. Being at war does force the AI into fasc/communism though, which is what matters.
