- The O’Brien surname is one of the most common in Ireland and the O’Brien DNA Project is one of the most mature Surname DNA projects in existence. Dennis discusses the DNA results of the project, how the O’Briens are genetically related to the rest of the Dál gCais, differences and synergies between SNP & STR marker results, and the implications of the DNA results for the future of O’Brien family tree research. He is joined in the Q&A session by the Clan Chief - The O'Brien, Conor, 18th Baron Inchiquin, Prince of Thomond.

Thank you very much Dennis and Conor- I agree with Kevin that the presentations were inspirational and very interesting. Thanks to Kevins work and sleuthing, I was able to visit the St Stephano church in Rome recently and found the inscription on the wall. A great moment and great to see one of the cousins mentioned in the latin inscription.
Wonderful presentation Dennis and the comments of Sir Conor O'Brien at the end of your talk was inspirational. It is Great to be an O'BRIEN!! Hopefully the O'Brien families living in Ireland will be moved to join the "O'Brien Group" on Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) and submit their O'Brien DNA.

Ocrotagh later Ocrotty then Crotty , trails keep leading to Obriens , it a big puzzle...of history , great video .
Hi family! My 3x great-grandfather Lucius O'Brien (1829-1875) married a Chinese lady Ijong Djim Nio (death:1908) in West Sumatra, Indonesia. However, I cannot find any trace of his origins and/or how he ended up in Indonesia/Asia. Does anybody know of an O'Brien branch that ventured to Indonesia/Asia? Thanks so much! Jade

@@CaomhanOMurchadha shit that sucks
so even though my mother was an O'Brien , I have none in me
@@alexschonski3637 you could get any brothers or O'Brien male cousins of hers to test?
How do I contribute to the project.
My mom an O"zBrine too
Our O'Brien came to the South in USA, served in 3 wars.
I thought that Brian Boru was descended from the Merovingian kings of southern France, specifically Dagobert II. But then agins that was by marriage and does not point to the origin of the Irish DalCais, But weren't the Irish pre-Christian DalCais considered infidels because they refused to perform human sacrifice?
Thanks for not extincting my family the O'Gradys since we did help brian in the battle of ivar.
Byrns, Raven, Black Irish. That's me.
