Dromoland Castle was sold to an Irish American Texas oil mogul. There is a tragic story in my family related to that Texas owner. A story involving a curse on our family put o it by Biddy Connor, the famous Witch of Clare. More recently Dromoland was sold to an upscale hotel group and is regarded as a splendid place to stay.
Good video! You did not focus on the O'Brien involvement in the 9 year war. As in other time periods the O'Briens were divided, the main strength of the O'Briens fought for the English against O'Donnell and O'Neill and contributed significant levels of manpower to the English army at battles such as Kinsale 1601 (Donogh O'Brien 4th Earl was commended by Mountjoy for his services), Ballyshannon 1597 where the English were beaten back by O'Donnell and Dunboy Castle 1602 where Donogh as the commanding officer of the English army he hanged the garrison when it surrendered. It was one of O'Donnell's favourite past times burning Thomond and in the aftermath of the Yellow Ford 1598 he installed Teige (brother of Donogh) as the "Irish" O'Brien. Donogh with support from Ormond (another English loyalist) soon drove his brother out. Fun fact Clare is now part of Munster as this was Donogh's reward for service to Elizabeth. Clare was part of Connacht but Donogh got it moved to Munster so he could then become President of Munster. He had no chance of claiming the Presidency of Connacht with another English loyalist Clanrickard in charge there.
Thank you so much, i also enjoyed reading your message, i would have loved to have covered most of this, if not all but i try to keep my clan videos under 10 minutes which means alot of the thousand year history of say the O'Briens gets cut, especially if i know i will cover the subject like the 9 years war in another video. Its a shame because i could talk about the subject for hours.
I’m descended from the Bryan’s who went to the US. My particular ancestor William Bryan returned to Galway in hopes of getting his land back I believe. While he was doing this his father and brother were establishing the Presbyterian church in what would become the US. For some reason my family records show that he went to Denmark. Then to Belfast where he might have met his wife. They went to Ballyroney and were active in the church there. Then William and his wife went to the US. I know of this because my family has kept a letter from the pastor of William’s church vouching their good character. Not long after William Bryan went back to the US he and his family made their way to MO. His brother went to Kentucky. The MO Bryan’s stayed there until my grandmother who moved to FL. And now I’ve gone back to MO. If anyone here could help me fill in the gaps of why William Bryan would return in hopes of getting his land back after Cromwell why he went to Denmark. I don’t know if it was because he was a merchant- or if he needed to flee to Denmark. If he was a merchant then why stop that trade so abruptly? And then why would Belfast have been his choice?
Can anyone give me any info on O'Brian surname as this spelling is very rare we are Scottish and been here over 150 years . Where do the O'Brian s come from in Ireland with our spelling ?
I will, please be patient, each video takes me just over 2 weeks to make as i still work full time outside of this channel and i have a podcast aswell, i also have other videos that have been scheduled in, i have honoured what i said and moved the Montgomery up my list.

A functioning state is one based on the right and the ability to impose taxes. I would asume "tributes" is kind of a word for taxes.
