@Tiktaalik She joined the military, like many did after 9/11, and served as a specialist in a medical unit. Giving her a great perspective on US militarism. She tirelessly campaigns against US interventionism and regime change wars, but did describe herself as a "hawk" against terrorism. Ok. Tulsi is the closest thing to a peace candidate as we have in the race. And I trust Kucinich.
@Tiktaalik I really don't know how Tulsi has convinced anyone she's a progressive or even a lefty! She endorsed Bernie because she was challenged from the left. It really is mind blowing.
I don’t support her. What are you talking about? I’m with Bernie. I will defend Tulsi against stupid and unfair criticism. And there is a lot I like about her. I don’t agree that her declaration of being hawkish on terrorism guarantees “massacres and cowardice.” I believe she would wield power more responsibly than the likes of Obama and Trump, who ran on reducing US involvement abroad. The significant part of her message is consistent opposition to regime change wars. It’s important, and nobody is making the case better.
One thing I take from the Kucinich interview: what a survivor! To have so many values and principles, even in the midst of so much potential peril and poverty is remarkable.
How can you not love Dennis Kucinich? He was the precursor to Bernie in a way. For a while he was contemplating moving here to Washington state and running for Congress, but it didn't work out. He would make such a great president. What a fantastic show! Thanks for giving him so much time to speak.

Dennis is amazing. I feel blessed to live around some of what was discussed here, at least later on. He was a known name when I was a kid and I can confirm that he is who he presents here then and now. He is an inspiration of mine and has been an excellent example to follow as how to be in government RIGHT, how to uplift the citizenry, how to facilitate prosperity in ways that help us all! Part of this comes from living there. This sort of thinking is part of Ohio. It exudes from the state constitution and in some ways through how it was zoned initially. Everyone got apportioned a lot and you did what you wished to make something of yourself. You learned how to be rugged while also being civic-minded, taking pride in service to others in the name of honoring and protecting common ideals and standards. That state truly is the Heart (and HAUNT) Of It All! Also...for those who like the sort of thing... UFO sightings are not rare over Ohio skies. I have seen so many myself that it can be called unusual NOT to spot something strange! Then add the rest of the oddities bandied about.

Great show! I have so much respect for Congressman Kucinich. I have voted for him every opportunity I have had. He is a man, like Bernie Sanders, of lifelong courage and integrity. It is just so disheartening that people like Kucinich, Sanders, Ralph Nader, Jill Stein and others that this nation truly need to make it great are so marginalized and mocked by the MSM that not enough citizens realize how much we need them.
I think the NYT DOES know that it's almost irrelevant: that's why they've been so pompous and self-important.
First time I've heard anyone advocate for a Department of Peace. Let's do it! Dennis Kucinich needs a lot more recognition in the media. Thank you so much for having this interview with so admirable a man.
Warren; "I think you called me a liar on national tv
Bernie; "If you want to have that discussion, we'll have that discussion"
Steyer; "You guys wanna go for pizza?"
Steyer better be buyin'

@@crappozappo LOL, I can see Steyer jumpin' on a pogo stick and bouncing away....Can The Steyer save democracy? He will try...

Dennis Kucinich is great! I love that guy! He is SO intelligent and straight-forward, and HONEST!
Kuchinich is a good man. I'm glad he endorsed Tulsi Gabbard. #Tulsi2020🌺✌
@Tiktaalik A Jeet Heer opinion piece? Oooh . . . disturbing.
@Tiktaalik An opinion piece in a magazine isn't "news."
@Tiktaalik
I really don't know how Tulsi has convinced anyone she's a progressive or even a lefty!
Man do I love this show more and more every week.
Kucinuch - great to hear him again.
It is all smoke and mirrors. God I miss him. Bernie is a lot like him.
Kucinich and Bernie must've worked really well together when Bernie was in the House of Reps
@@lisanavarro2641 I'd like to think so.
Departament of Peace is a great idea.
Always was... now we make it happen!!!
Marianne is supporting Bernie, and insisted on a department of peace in her run for president this year. Another good one for the cabinet:-)!
Hillary saying no one likes Bernie. That's Hillarious. Talk about the Hitler calling the Ghandi a monster.
You guys are the best! Thanks for an intellectual, entertaining, and informative show.
Such a great podcast with a lot of subtle laughs. Keep it up guys!
One thing I take from the Kucinich interview: what a survivor! To have so many values and principles, even in the midst of so much potential peril and poverty is remarkable.
Dennis was my Bernie before I ever heard of Bernie! So great to see him getting some air time.
How can you not love Dennis Kucinich? He was the precursor to Bernie in a way. For a while he was contemplating moving here to Washington state and running for Congress, but it didn't work out. He would make such a great president. What a fantastic show! Thanks for giving him so much time to speak.
Dennis is a national treasure
Kucinich is the best, connects all the dots like no other.
I know this is off point, but you two both have such good looking faces. It’s awesome seeing attractiveness on regular humans vs the asinine bogus lens the marketing world imposes on us 24-7.
Juliette, I like your post👍
Matt and Katie are a cool looking pair

I love that Katie is unabashed in her support for Bernie, even though Matt is trying to stay (somewhat) neutral. She dgaf, and it is awesome.
Such a principled man! I didn't know much about him until this podcast, as he's mostly before my time. Thanks!
This body language "expert" is pissing me off.
And, I've really soured on Joy Reid
Did she have some sort of positive quality prior to this, and prior to the anti-Tulsi stuff, and prior to lying about her homophobic stuff?
I've always thought Reid was the worst talking head at MSDNC.
@@alikazerani No.
My parents watch her. They make endless excuses for mainstream democrats.
@@maxsmart9116 At least they're not in the Fox Alternate Universe, like most of my family is. Though it's difficult to tell which is worse these days.

Isn't this weird: youtube did not send me this alert.

Love this podcast! amazing seeing real journalistic integrity and humor blended into an easily digestible format. Matt you are one of the few actual journalists working today, much respect. Katie I wasn't familiar with you before this podcast but god damn you are frickin hilarious. Overall a good pairing.Love Y'all to death. Keep doing it down for people with progressive values. Griftopia is one of the best non fiction books I've ever read.
You mention Sri Lanka a lot Matt. Love it. Keep it up!
There’s a good chance Bernie would appoint him to something.
So good to hear from Dennis Kucinich again . He was my candidate for President. I did not know about his early years. I think of his poor Mother and a women's health and contraception and abortion issues. I want to see the ERA passed.

Great interview with Dennis! Thank you for reminding me of just how advanced this man is.
You guys should get George Galloway on your show.
Glenn Greenwald, Snowden, Chelsea, Assange and so many others of our time are the highest form of humanity. They are the Che Guevaras, Oscar Romeros and so many others who are not famous who have gone before. These people are sacrificing their lives for a vision of a better future. To see the Bidens, Kamala Harris, Klobachars, Bloombergs and the others say anything about these amazing brilliant people is beyond farcical.
Thank you for reminding us of them. I am an old fart who is inspired in a time that is difficult to be so.
Thank you....useful (brilliant) idiots!

Give it up Matt, Embrace the Bern
I think he does, but as a journalist has to be careful about making formal endorsements ...
@@severalwolves I agree with this. I also think he knows that the podcast and anything he says will seem less credible if he outwardly expresses an endorsement. He lets the truth endorse him instead.
Best show yet! Kucinich is an American Treasure.
News today: Bernie has taken the lead in Iowa, and Warren has lost ground.
.....you guys are terrific, mirror the hopes and teach others how to Critically Think, and be genuinely Particpants in Life instead of just 'fingering' a cell phone for information, killing time and mindless entertainment......listening and intelligent conversation is an Art......keep it up.
Dennis Kucinich has endorsed Tulsi Gabbard for the president of United States.
Congratulations! This was one of your most interesting podcasts. Dennis Kucinich is the O.G. of Democratic Socialism in this country.
24:54 Sorry but that impression is hands down better than Stef Zamarano's impression.
And I love Stef btw
Sorry but that impression was pretty mensch, IMHO. I am wondering if they will keep her on after the pilot episode. Or is it past the pilot episode now?
Dennis kucinich teaches us. You can't stand,if you can't stand yourself.
Believe that we all can have it and that we all can share it.
Bernie's too good for what the Democratic party has become since the early 1990s.
These DLC style sellouts should be ashamed of themselves
This is a huge moment...this movement is going to either fundamentally change the Democratic (GOP-light) and move it back in line with the people or there is going to be some kind of split with the left...I for one won't ever give them my time money or vote again if they don't represent me. 🌹
I just told them that and more in an email they sent me begging for money from Tom Perez. I told him they needed to dump Hillary she’s poisoning the party.
What a good man. Where does that wisdom come from? Great episode!
Dennis Kucinich needs to be the VP for Bernie Sanders
I appreciate Kucinich even more now. Thanks guys
