Brazil has already blocked Twitter, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the EU does as well. I would not recommend DA or Insta, both of those platforms also feed your art into their AI program. Yes, you can opt-out, but I really don't think their opt-out options do anything. I think it's just a switch so they can say they gave you the option and behind the scenes they are just stilling your art regardless.
TBH, options like this should be an opt-in basis only, otherwise accounts that are abandoned because their creators completely forgot about them or had passed would be put into that shitty program.
Tumblr as well, they've already scraped all the data and added an opt-out switch as a way to get everyone to stop talking about it. it won't actually help, data will be scraped either way again, including private messages and drafts (although those were unwanted, they still have that info out there)
It warms my heart when a billionaire has to face the fact they completely lost touch with reality years ago. You can't force, bribe or coerce the public to respect you. I still think he never actually wanted Twitter and he was trying to play games with manipulating stock prices like he did with redditcoin or whatever it was called, but the FTC squeezed his nuts about it and he decided to pay up and pretend he meant to buy it instead of further consequences from the government.
@@bluegum6438 If I remember the story I was told, it's basically what you said, except that he got so sloppy pumping things like dogecoin for kicks - legal because doge isn't technically a stock regulated by the SEC - that he did the same thing with Twitter, except that put him in a bind with the SEC. So long as he went through with the buy, he was clear, but if he tried to duck it, he'd have charges on him. So now he's just trying to turn it into a win, or maybe he just doesn't care if it collapses and he can be shut of it.
_Blocking should always be so the person you block cant see your account info or posts, but you should still be able to see their account info if needed_
Been WAY happier on Bluesky and have gotten more followers there than I ever did on Twitter so life is good there and I don't see how being staying on Twitter is going to benefit me
It’s been nice being able to interact with people without the bots constantly spamming, notsees being, well, notsees, and ragebait flooding my feed. Being surrounded by people who are always enraged/trying to intentionally make you angry is an extremely unhealthy environment.
I left Instagram earlier this year because of Meta AI scrapping content for AI training. I was not happy with them for trying to take my art for their own gain, and they weren’t transparent on it happening at all. They clearly didn’t want people to know it was happening so artists would keep uploading and they could take their stuff. Evil corporations.
I will LOVE to see when the AI eats itself up, because there is so much unlabeled AI content out there. I'm coming from Instagram but I already use Bluesky. As a content creator it feels definitely way better than Twitter. I actually reach people with my content.
The first part is not really likely, at least for stuff that does not output based on what is currently online. You might slow it down, but for stuff like image gens they are not going to get any worse then they are. Just like with captcha in the end the most effected group is going to be humans users. I feel the best case is automated posting to be banned and for it isolated to it's own group. Just how 18+ posts are isolated, why can't AI stuff be too? I like both but in proper time, when googling something I don't want lewds or AI images I want to see what I am searching for.
@@Khotetsu Don't do that, like I said in the other comment your just going to spam real humans with the images way more then hurt any image gen. Also good chance if you tag the images the google crawlers will add the images to image search and only humans really rely on that.
@@asdf30111 That's one of the big reasons I don't bother going through the effort whenever another of these social media companies does this. The other big one being that it would also just artificially boost their engagement metrics on top of everything else. Whether you're posting AI art slop or AI generated Dr Who fanfics or something, you're making the site harder to use for the people still there while making the stock go up. It's a lose/lose situation. The best option is to just not play and go somewhere else. That's what I did when the muskrat first bought the platform. I've had a much healthier social media experience after running back to hang out with all the bisexual trans furries on Tumblr than I ever did on Twitter.
Something less known is that in a court case for a restraining order I had, I used Facebook's blocking feature as evidence to show I'm trying to separate from an individual, and that person had their Facebook opened to me on an alternate account on their phone just with a tap of the app. It's not strong evidence on it's own, but when you use that to stack evidence to try getting someone away from you who won't leave you alone, it truly does help because it shows you're trying to escape from someone, and they're going out of their way to continue to track you. Replace Facebook with twitter, and now if you block that stalker, they have nothing stopping them from continuing to watch you. You no longer have that evidence in your back pocket.
Honestly speaking from an art perspective, a big factor for moving over to Bluesky for me has been discoverability. Twitter's been awful about suppressing posts so it's been pretty hard to grow - which is tough when art's your full-time gig. My following on Bluesky is not even 1/10th of the size I had on Twitter but I'm getting more interaction and more people are actually finding my work rather than it just getting buried thanks to weird algorithm bs.
as an artist this is a dramatic change for me, my twitter account has 400 followers, but on bluesky i have only 50, so this is just a choice of either hurting your followers count or getting cucked by ai
Personally I'm a smaller artists but from what I've seen from big artists jumping platforms - you get better reach than on Twitter. They've seen that with a fraction of the following they had they got more reach - and personally been seeing my stuff get noticed at all. I figure it's cuz of a difference in algorithm and that you can add feeds dedicated to certain topics, plus it's currently smaller and so you have less 'competition' I highly recommend switching, it also straight up feels better to use and they're always listening to the community to improve their site.
I heard bluesky has way to mirror your twitter posts. So any posts you make on twitter are also made on bluesky, and people who view you on bluesky are more likely care more about your content so each follow would mean more compared to twitter which is bot infested.
@@asdf30111 thing is on twitter i got answers from geniuen people and not only bots, and ANY interactions, likes and retweets, on bluesky i hardly even get a comment

Apparently, 'ask app not to track' means that your iphone will block data most commonly used to track location, and then tell the app that it's not to use other data to track. It does the closest it can to 'no', but the reality is that everything has access to so many data points it's not possible to be certain that the data that does go through can't build enough of a picture to track.
With Android it's very simple when it comes to location tracking... Your options are "Allow all the time", "Allow while this app is open", "Allow untill this app is closed" or "Deny".
Once again, the elongated muskrat adds fuel to the absolute garbage fire that is Twitter. What else is new? Fortunately, I see this boosting Bluesky to furs who have relied on Twitter so we can fully migrate there more quickly Also the “we own everything you post” is LITERALLY Fazbear Entertainment 😂😭
Very few are leaving in full. Some of them are doing full images on bluesky but cropped images on twitter which is infuriating and makes me want to unfollow. They still want the benefit of more followers on twitter but try to shoehorn those followers into using bluesky. I hate activism. If you don't like twitter just leave. Don't post cropped art.
as an artist (non furry tho) I have the same amount in engagement in both bsky and twitter, also have the same amount of commission in both with a 10% of followers. Tips for bsky: there is no algorithm and feed is chronological, so reply to comments and comment others people's posts if you dont want to reblog (tho thats the best way to help artists). Tags work like in tumblr, use them. you can add feeds to customize your experience. you can mas block/mute list of hate speech and all ai/crypto. dont fall for rage bait, block.
I'm betting this change to how blocking works on Twitter is due to Elon personally wanting to see the posts of folks who blocked him. (From what I recall, there were A LOT of folks blocking him.) Rather sad, if true. Yet the AI "opt out" being removed is definitely problematic in itself. Yikes >.>
Instead of going through a bunch of legal troubles, in order to change the rules of an already failing system, thus further increasing the ire directed at him, one would expect that Elon would be smart enough to, I dunno... _make a secondary account?_
@@LucanVaris he had a secondary account! it's just that it was the account where he roleplayed his infant son in the comments of sex workers' posts on the site.
This is why I've been hoping more people would move to Bluesky. People moved from Tumblr to Twitter before so I was hoping it would be the same thing again
I didn't quit using that awful platform due to either of these, I just didn't care (yes, even as an artist.), but I can see why others do care or would care. The main reason I left is because of how annoying and irritating the people on (and running it) are. Legitimately, the constant drama on there, even when blocking people to avoid it yet it still ends up on my TL I just couldn't be bothered with it anymore ngl Regardless of the changes, I lowkey can't use it anymore without just feeling irritated and annoyed at it, it just sucks as a platform lol
Lesson of today Twitter is like an abusive husband or wife no matter we're you go no matter how many times you say you won't come back you always somehow find your way back anyway
Furry Twitter died years ago. Twitter has been a cesspit for furries and artists for so long I was wondering how anyone took it seriously as an artist platform to begin with. Then again nobody did when I joined the Fandom either. I remember 10 years ago every furry under the sun was shitting on twitter as a platform and only stopped shitting on it once Tumblr committed sudoku. And that's really because nobody ever liked Twitter, it was an app you looked at memes while you were on the toilet aka a literal shitpost site. Everyone was only really there because of how quick it was to post on the site. But it was only so quick because you couldn't say anything meaningful. In essence. Twitter was never alive. Furry/artist Twitter was the weirdest form of manufactured necromancy I ever saw. It was only 'good for artists' because all the clients were there but the clients were only ever there because all the artists were there. In other words if artists simply continued to treat it like the joke it always was Elon wouldn't have even been a thought in people's minds to begin with. People took the worst site ever created seriously and now are finally seeing why it was shit from the get go. It was never a good platform for artists and clients were only there because artists used it for art despite it being objectively terrible as an art gallery. Instead of making a new Tumblr we (because I sadly did too) embraced the simplest and worst solution.
i personally prefer bluesky because it’s generally a lot less toxic and has less ragebait and reaction bait, but i still use them both equally because twitter is still way bigger and a lot of my friends still only use twitter
Bluesky now has a much larger community, so there's no shortage of people to follow. The moderation and filtering features are also amazing for tweaking what shows up on your home page.
That's awesome, my biggest problem with nowaday's social media is you can't filter stuff out or stop seeing content other than praying the algorithm does better
I made an account on Mastodon last year, but it's basically empty. I can't find any cool people to follow or be followed by, nor can I find any interesting content to engage with. Do you have any advice?
I saw someone make good points about this: 1) Blocking doesn't stop people if they really want to get to you. They can just make another account. 2) AI was already scraping from everywhere. Moving to another public social media site isn't going to make you immune. 3) Bluesky, or any other site, isn't immune to making decisions you don't like. The only thing leaving Twitter accomplishes is losing a significant following and, for most people, having to start over from the beginning.
I understand this may be an unpopular comment but I can say this new block change benefits me a lot. I have been blocked by plenty of furry artist sometimes seemingly withing 48 hours on twitter. No contact, no bad interactions mainly blocked as soon as I follow them. I am certain most if not all of the reasons for me being blocked are specifically because I post Ai content. Just like how you mentioned Beta about how people can just make another account and follow people on that literally shows why the block function did not solve much for other issues. I refused to make another twitter account for watching artists before this block change happened because i did not feel like it and it seemed pointless and ridiculous just like blocking somebody because you don'f like their content instead of just muting their content. I'm used to the idea of blocking somebody for harassment not just because they like something, somebody else doesn't. If my account got muted I could fully understand that happening not everybody like Ai pictures I understand that. I'm also trying to promote artists with Ai while trying to show what can be done with it and thankfully if I'm not mistaken it may have helped some artists get more attention and or followers. To me Ai pictures in terms of quality are like McDonald while what the actual artists makes is like gourmet. I do not think Ai pictures are better than what an actual artist makes this is also among the other reasons I am promoting other artists with it. If a viewer likes the picture ( McDonalds ) then they can find the Actual artists that a picture may be based on ( Gourmet Restaurant ). I already understand Ai picture are not popular and are heavily hated and I know furry related thing are heavily hated as well and I have literally received bad comments and or bad interactions about both. Among the reasons I post what I post is not to ruin artist, but to show new things and promote artist that may otherwise be unknown by many. After being blocked by a lot of furry artist I learned a lot from that and the artists who did it, but also I learned a lot from others that did not block me, as well as that may even follow me or watch my content. I have even been told by many people they use what i post as references. I'm so glad some artists don't view Ai as a threat to artists, it's a tool and it depends on who uses it... I want to also mention what I am typing here is not to promote my channel it was to explain what happened to me because of that ridiculous block change, which I was against happening until I got blocked by so many artists for ridiculous reasons, when I literally wanted to watch their content and tell them how awesome some things are. I would feel bad blocking somebody because i saw they posted something I didn't like and I had no other valid reason. I learned a lot from people following me how important a comment can be on a picture posted. I don't know if this comment will be read by many people if any, I just want it known this block update helps me a lot. I also have no plans on naming artists that block me publicly because that causes drama and what I want to do is use art and ai pictures for great things and to make people happy, feel good, or better, not to cause bad drama... Keep up the awesome content beta, it's nice watching it and getting some laughs in the process...
Then in some years blue sky will do it and so on. A good alternative becomes a lucrative business eventually. Also the blocking I don't feel as an issue and in fact prefer it. If I post something a blocked person shouldn't see its a private post anyway.
15:35 Instagram has ai too, and can APPLY to opt out of it, but its possible they can just tell you no (Unless they changed it) plus instagram is awful now that they removed the abilitity to see recently uploaded hashtags it makes it impossible to find new beginner artists and for those artists to get a following its only good if you already have a lot of followers, tumblr isnt good for art either and never really has been imo, furaffinity seems fine but its just for furry artists, if an artist does both furry and humanoid art, it doesnt really work that well having to spread their art to even more platforms. Twitter was THE place for artists, even newer artists, but, looks like thats dying too
I only block annoying accounts that post advertisement, politics, religion, porn bots, AI shit and NFTs, but mainly ads. I think this change is to keep forcing us to watch their ads and shitpost bots too
I'll be honest, my wife's reach as an artist on Twitter has collapsed without changing anything. It just doesn't show her art posts to her thousands of followers anymore. So why stay?
The block feature should be like whatsapp's read receipts future. A setting where if you want to see posts of people who blocked you, they will be able to see yours as well, otherwise without the setting you won't see either
Can I just mention that you absolutely can use tools to make near-invisible changes to images in a way that poisons the dataset of any generative AI models that use it as an input?
As a tiny artist that sells just a little by little, there is so much things nowadays to burn tiny artists view on the algorithm that it's really frustrating to me to see Twitter dying that way.. I hope people go to Bluesky, their algorithm isn't too much hard to grow as on twitter or instagram is nowadays.
the change in blocking makes it easier for aggressors to screenshot your shit and "dunk" on you all this change does is make it so people don't have to log out to do it.
Yup. There is nothing fundamentally preventing Bluesky from simply becoming the next Twitter over time. It's technically decentralized but in practice (from what I've gathered) it would be extremely difficult for any private person to actually have anything resembling an instance, it still all revolves around one central entity. I think that on a fundamental level any social media governed by a single private company is bound to slowly become enshittified through greedy decisions that don't actually benefit the users.
I've been on a Bluesky for a moment now, and honestly? It feels more or less like Twitter, but without it being Twitter. It honestly feels like only the positive part of fandom transitioned so far, with all the negativity, both from inside and outside, left on Twitter. And honestly? I hope Twitter will survive just so that won't change too much any time soon
Jumped the ship back when Tumblr put logs in the cogs, not overly keen on jumping again, but in the meanwhile, distributing some eggs into two baskets just in case.
i mean, before the update, blocked people could still see ur posts by just not logging in. i also think you could use this to quote tweet tweets from blocked account by just putting the link at the end. no need for a second account. i haven't used twitter in a long time, so idk if this is still possible
Does the ToS change reply retroactively to past twitter posts? Like if someone passed away and had indicated their work to not be used in ai training models, and is thus incapable of removing their past content from the site before this comes into effect.
Had someone who was impersonating someone else on Bluesky. In a matter of minutes they were deleted. Bluesky has also said they wont be adding any sort of AI to the site. So far the site is incredible
Yeah im not leaving twitter. Blue sky still kinda sucks by comparison. Also tbh I really don't care about blocking either. So eh, its just another day for me.
Something I'm finding to be an ever growing problem on twitter is the content being produced by the people I follow being suppressed some how not showing up in my following feed.
Hello! Loved the video. I have been on the same predicament as an artist who wants to reintroduce myself in the furry fandom. When I saw the tw changes, I had to ask myself if I really wanted to start over on bsky. The thing is, starting over on a new account is harsh, more so when you dont really have a huge audience. My solution was to keep my tw account, but also get a bsky and furaffinity account. When I post a new drawing I'll post it on all three of them. For the moment being I've been posting all my old stuff on my bsky and furadfinity accounts, and people have been receptive! Bsky so far has been nice in terms of interactions. Furaffinitty has been nice too, people are very welcoming. I want to live off of my art, and sometimes you have to expand in order to get more eyes on your work. I dont really like playing the social media game, but I do try to post daily for the most part and be genuine with whay I post. Hope this helps someone out!

I'm all for the block changes. Bad actors experience no significant upside, but good actors do. Someone trying to stalk your tweets would know to make an alt account or incognito window, but someone who's info is being posted or who's art is being stolen wouldn't know to use a secret account to keep an eye out for stuff that's harmful to them.

I think he might have changed the block feature because he is estranged by at least one of his children. The one daughter I'm thinking of has him blocked on Twitter/X. It comes off as a covert abusive tactic to control information and access from my perspective. That's the one thing blocked people always complain about, that it's "cowardice", and "you should be able to have a conversation with them" but they simultaneously also fail at understanding boundary setting. Keeping them unblocked usually just allows them to keep steamrolling you, despite being firm with words.
I have 8x as many followers on Twitter as I do on Bluesky, yet my engagement on Bluesky is WAAAAYYY higher. I’ve really been thinking about finally just dropping Twitter at this point. I just don’t get the engagement I used to, and the new no opting out of AI crap is really annoying.
Goodness me, does Tumblr even still exist?

Changes like this tempt me to take my old Twitter account and set up a bot to just post AI garbage on it for the sake of poisoning their dataset.

Thanks for the info. The changes to blocks will make it where my alt-right mom could see my account. So, I'm probably going to bail.
I got banned from twitter for talking crap about elon musk. I don't regret it
Especially when he implicitly sided with one of the 2 individuals running for presidency. I'm letting you guess for whom.
As someone who has dealt with stalkers, getting the notif of the blocking feature changing, genuinely scares me..
I see the block change being so that AI scrapers can steal art from accounts that have them blocked
I hope this really boosts Bluesky

I figure it's cuz of a difference in algorithm and that you can add feeds dedicated to certain topics, plus it's currently smaller and so you have less 'competition'
I highly recommend switching, it also straight up feels better to use and they're always listening to the community to improve their site.
I heard bluesky has way to mirror your twitter posts. So any posts you make on twitter are also made on bluesky, and people who view you on bluesky are more likely care more about your content so each follow would mean more compared to twitter which is bot infested.
@@schocoa well not in my case it just got way worse, basically im quite back to where i started

Fortunately, I see this boosting Bluesky to furs who have relied on Twitter so we can fully migrate there more quickly
Also the “we own everything you post” is LITERALLY Fazbear Entertainment 😂😭
I wonder if that's why Twitter is now called X, because it marks the spot for Twitter's final resting place!

LMFAO yo that got a laugh out of me, ngl.
as an artist (non furry tho) I have the same amount in engagement in both bsky and twitter, also have the same amount of commission in both with a 10% of followers.
Left Xitter at the end of last year, saw the writing on the wall from several light-years away. Muskrat is a walking lawsuit waiting to happen.

I didn't quit using that awful platform due to either of these, I just didn't care (yes, even as an artist.), but I can see why others do care or would care.
The main reason I left is because of how annoying and irritating the people on (and running it) are. Legitimately, the constant drama on there, even when blocking people to avoid it yet it still ends up on my TL I just couldn't be bothered with it anymore ngl

Well... left Twitter on 2023 and still not planing to come back.

And blocked it from downloading
Have you ever heard the term "enshittyfication"?
I moved the majority of the follows from Twitter to Bluesky. Still 23 artists are too stubborn to move.
Brazilian furries finally got back to twitter from... and now it's back to bluesky
I'll be honest, this is the first I'd heard about people leaving over the Blocking thing. Everything I'd heard was about the AI issue.
Mastodon (and BlueSky) ftw
I made an account on Mastodon last year, but it's basically empty. I can't find any cool people to follow or be followed by, nor can I find any interesting content to engage with. Do you have any advice?
The stuff you mentioned are some of the same reasons I left deviantart for furaffinity and Furry Network.
The fact that I got sussed yesterday 😭 maybe I should move to bsky
I already moved to Bsky. Don't regret it, but traffic on there is slow.
Thanks for the info, honestly. I hardly use Twitter. But changed the settings and limited its access to photos.
Was over looooong ago lmao, people are just finally now realizing and jumping ship. Bsky is where it is at.
BlueSky isnt bad, but I've found having a personal website on something like neocities or whatever is even more rewarding

Whenever I hear the word Grok (the twitter bot), I think of the Grox from Spore (evil alien creatures at the center of the galaxy).
It's a reference to "Stranger in a Strange Land". I'm annoyed by the name only because it's pretentious as hell.
Twitter is also so incredibly toxic at this point. I just don't get that terrible flavor on bsky
I made my Bluesky profile on New Year's Day and never before have I felt so happy to see fellow furs and old friends hop on.
I feel like BlueSky should have that Instagram block option that blocks someone and any other accounts they may create. BlueSky could benefit from it.
Twitter is like if a dumpster was a website
Then in some years blue sky will do it and so on. A good alternative becomes a lucrative business eventually. Also the blocking I don't feel as an issue and in fact prefer it. If I post something a blocked person shouldn't see its a private post anyway.
I left for Bluesky ages ago, y'all are wayyyy too late
A setting where if you want to see posts of people who blocked you, they will be able to see yours as well, otherwise without the setting you won't see either
moved to bsky almost a year ago
havent looked back since
I think the blocking thing really has to do with advertisers. because now if you block the advertisers they will still get to see your posts.
Just get on Bluesky already, friend. Life is just so much nicer here.
I believe that not having an opt out is illegal in the UK
I deleted my Twitter like 2 weeks ago. I've never been happier
Yeahhh, I'm with Bluesky on this one chief
the change in blocking makes it easier for aggressors to screenshot your shit and "dunk" on you all this change does is make it so people don't have to log out to do it.
Mastodon. Got Bluesky but do not use it.
I think it will in the end do the same.
Time to feed grok lots of disney and nintendo stuff by spamming that stuff
This is why I deleted my account almost a year ago. I heard AI was coming and ran very quickly.
Had someone who was impersonating someone else on Bluesky. In a matter of minutes they were deleted. Bluesky has also said they wont be adding any sort of AI to the site. So far the site is incredible
its like like giving mouth to mouth to a person who is dying form a heart attack
I wonder what nsfw account elon followed blocked him and caused all this hoopla
Yeah im not leaving twitter. Blue sky still kinda sucks by comparison. Also tbh I really don't care about blocking either. So eh, its just another day for me.
At least you're being honest

Honestly, the change to blocking makes it easier for bots to scrape data and you can't stop them from seeing it now.
