- I rewrote More Than Anything for Lilith and Lucifer since the song always felt like it would work well between two lovers to me! My version covers two time periods that we weren’t given much insight into in Hazbin Hotel Season 1. The first is when Lucifer and Lilith met and fell in love after Lilith ran away from the garden because of Adam’s demand for control.
The second time period I decided to cover in this rewrite is after Lilith and Lucifer were punished and cast down to hell by heaven for sharing the magic of free will with humanity through the fruit of knowledge they offered to Eve. It takes place during Lilith’s pregnancy as the couple worry about the safety of their daughter Charlie. Since Lilith is profoundly known for empowering demon-kind with her songs, they fear what the angels would do if they found out about the Princess of Hell! 👑🔥

There’s a post about a comic regarding Charlie’s birth. The comic was that Charlie was born stillborn, but Lucifer revived her with his powers, and that’s how she got her little goat feet.
That’s actually based on some esoteric folklore itself - in some stories, Lilith was cursed to be infertile, and in others, her children are cursed to die before or shortly after birth. Lucifer, as not just an angel but a powerful seraphim, was able to use his divine power to give Charlie his own version of the Breath of Life that gave life to Adam and Lilith.

I love the idea that for Lucifer this is the original “More than Anything” and just like the song he sang with his wife, he sang it with his daughter as the reprise. But for Charlie that was the original and her reprise was with Vaggie, I just love the idea of this song being something passed down much like a gift through the family. ❤️

2:35 I like how at this part it shows that lucifer hopes that Charlie will be like Lilith but Lilith is afraid that Charlie will be like her which means that there are things to Lilith that she hates about herself that lucifer loves but lucifer doesn’t see or understand those bits due to being a angel. I’m sorry, for as much as this cover got me teary-eyed, reading this interpretation made me laugh because Charlie really does seem to have only inherited her height, empathy, and possession of a nose from Lilith, all the rest of her everything is evidently from Lucifer. Not saying that’s bad, a rebellious dreamer who cares very much about other people is wonderful. They really got the best child they could have possibly had - a bright and ambitious Lucifer (pre-Fall optimism included) with Lilith’s hope and activism. She’s a true angel.

Lucifer and Lilith found love when their world didn’t accept them and they ruled Hell together to keep their family and their people safe. When Charlie was born, their life became so fulfilled and happy. What happened to them that caused their separation?
Holding hope that they reunite in Season 2. Charlie deserves to have both her parents with her when she and Vaggie become the new rulers of Hell. She needs her family complete, more than anything.
