My goodness, how wonderful this is! I read this novel at least 20 years ago but it's much more fun listening to this wonderful lady. What a perfect voice she has .
Just finished listening to this audio book and enjoyed it so much. I am so sorry to read here that Anne George has passed away. I will continue to search for all of her books!
I fell asleep to this book 3x times. If you need something to relax to that sounds like your country granny reading you a bedtime story and you really don't care about what happens in the story. I highly recommend it! 10/10 Naps!
The narrator is very trained in her voices and timing, she's very good! I love that she is soft spoken. SO many people think they need to yell as their natural voice. Thank you for sharing the book with us.
OMG, I’m enjoying this so much . Why have I never come across this author before? So very cute. Narrator does a very good job. So sorry to read the author is no longer w/us. I will definitely look up her other stories. THX so much for sharing this. Parisian TV.
@joycefitzgerel1632 I remember coming across this a few years ago, library book perhaps? I had your SAME reaction! Have it again now rediscovering this. 😁😄🤩🥳🙌🏼 That Southern humor!!! Similarly, I was trying to locate one nearer my youth that made the rounds ~90s/early 2000s. It was a group, club of Southern women, New Orleans' queens? ... Mentioned the proper application of sunscreen and facelifts -- as a retirement plan, cuz they can't take your face away, ... Hilarious asides like that.
This is hilarious, and I don't even like humorous mysteries. Maybe it's because the two sisters remind me SO much of my own sister and myself....total opposites. One is a 250 lb. free spirit, and the other a petite conservative. The narrator definitely has a flair for comedy. I find myself chuckling out loud constantly. I still can't believe I'm listening to it, but I can't stop! Later: I am totally hooked!!! Thank you for making this funny and charming series available!
Same! I can't believe I am listening to a book about two old Southern ladies! It's cute and sweet and witty and funny... Its very relaxing despite it being about a murder.
I'm loving listening to this story. The person reading has a wonderful voice. I have one complaint, the chopping off of words and end of sentences. Wreaks havoc with my OCD 🤪
@@suemorin7598 could be me because I’m from Texas and narrators never get the accent right. But, i also just love a British accent. My problem here is main character is only 60, 60 isn’t as old as they portray her.
TY for this interesting southern murder mystery. I must say I was rooting for Henry & Haily to make a match of it, so Patricia Ann's favorite student would become her son-in-law..sigh, but looks like her neice, Diane will get him for the twins! Great characters & good plot...kudos to the narrator👍
I just have to say that this is Alabama and most women would own a pistol at the very least. I don't understand the author making her two heroines so afraid of firearms. It's not reasonable at all.
I know I'm probably just being picky but there are some details that don't make sense. 1. The sister's are 65. & 60. 2. How did they see a show starring billy somebody in 1939? They weren't even born yet. I'm 57 I was born in 1963. 3. They obviously live in the age of cell phones so reliving the past like they experienced it is a falsehood. Petty details maybe but some details need to be correct.
This book was originally published in 1996. When you subtract 1939, the date of the show mentioned in the book, from 1996, the publication date, you get 57 years. Patricia Ann stated that she was only three years old at the time of the show. Add 3 to 57 and you get 60, Patricia Ann's age in the book. Also, the first mobile phone was manufactured in 1973. By the early 1990s, the cell phone rage had begun. Personally, I see no problem with the time line of the book. Anne George, the author, was honored with the coveted Agatha Award for the Southern Sisters series. She was also nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for a collection of her poetry. She was named Alabama's state poet in 1994.. She is missed in the literary world. Blessings.
I'm enjoying the book.... but this is the second time in 10 minutes where the audio skips. At 9:50 the line skips, is that going to be a regular thing?
I'm 2.5 hrs in and finding the dialog/words being cut off disconcerting, lol. So far, a cute mystery story, but it's hard to stay focused on it when the words keep getting cut off.
Of course not! Editors nor publishers would let that pass! The person that put it on RUclips so we could listen for free, just was off in his timing when he was transfering them from CD to this.

Wonderful escapism. Background to many happy sewing days.

I do the same. Have listened to series multiple times ❤it
I’m only 5 mins in, and I can tell this is good without scrolling through the comments.
Anne George was a wonderful author. I read em all.
I’ve read all of Anne George’s books. Absolutely delightful!
I listened to the whole series this summer. I enjoyed it so much I am listening to it again! So funny! I love the sisters and missed them. 💓

Sooo good! Relaxing, funny, and wish I was related to those two sisters-
Thank you for this great book. I enjoy the way the characters are very much like most all everyday people. ❤️
Omg! These two are hilarious! From the intro done by the gentlenan and then right into the book I could not stop cackling...lol the Sugarbakers live!
Aren't they though. The author could do stand up
❤️
Love this series sometimes a girl needs the ladies to make her laugh
Great author. Lol I thought I was the last person in the world who knew when to use I and when to use me. The narrator is perfect for this book.
You can thank popular music lyricists. They use me or they use I , whichever one rhymes. They wrecked grammar for everyone.

Go read Jana Deleon’s Fortune series. That’s a laugh out loud series set in Sinful, Louisiana. Louisiana Longshot is the first book.
@@dig4087I'll find that book, thank you.
Read these a while back. So funny and entertaining. Now listening with such a great narrator is so much fun.
So many laugh out loud moments. What wife can’t relate to, “I tried to remember that I had loved him a few hours ago.” 😁
That and.....I am sure I will love him again....eventually!
Second time listening. It's so adorable cept for the murder
Wish there were more books
There's 8 books that I have found so far. It's a series
i own all of the southern girls series and i simply love them!
This is the first I am hearing of it.

Love this spunky pair of southern sisters 😅👍❤️
Fantastic author…excellent narrator.
Onto the next book, now, for sure.
Great book I enjoyed it thanks for sharing
Where's that girl that said she only listens to narrators with a British accent?
I loved this book. Thank you.

Loved the Plum series!
I agree...so true I thought it was only me...
True true....
Only 40 mins in and have laughed a ton! Haha good stuff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 😆
Excellent! Thank you but I just lost several hours! Lol
