After multiple drownings in Lake Michigan, community efforts prevent another

Two people drowned, with a presumed third drowning and a fourth incident likely prevented by good Samaritans on the waters of Lake Michigan since Saturday.

Calling it a lake gives people a false sense of security..... the Great Lakes are
treacherous indeed!!! 🙏💔 I grew up in Chicago. We were not allowed to go
further out than knee deep. And we all knew how to swim! You just don't take
chances!!

Lake Michigan is an inland sea, cold, treacherous, and very dangerous. It may by 90 degrees, but that water is still super cold.

If you are not a strong, experienced swimmer you should never go more than knee deep in Lake Michigan. The currents are stronger than many people realize.

I almost drowned before at night out there , a tide came in raising the water levels but it occurred slowly and fast at the same time after about ten minutes of noticing how we were no longer able to stand without drifting it got serious
