    Love it!! Seriously nice work. I love how raw and authentic your channel is. A lot of this stuff you're trying for the first time and you admit things you learned or mistakes you've made along the way. You're killing it bro, love the new shop space too.

    I recommend doing the multi-piece headliner that can be installed with the windshields in place. Easily serviceable and doesn’t tear.

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  3 дня назад

      Thought about doing that, they're just so expensive! If my new headliner tears, then I'll go with the one-piece.

    Hi! Been watching the series from the beginning, the result is amazing. I've done the same color on my 66 coupe (altough for 66 it was called nightmist blue). Personally I think this is one of the best colors and in person it looks even better! Amazing project, and tremendous patience, keep it up!

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  3 дня назад +1

      Thanks! Yeah the color that Shop Line had listed was Nightmist blue which was confusing me at first. Then I got a sample to check it and also realized that Ford called it caspian blue. It definitely looks better in person! I love it.

    Nice brother. Looks good. Took forever, I almost had the shakes. Definitely an inspiration to get moving on my wife's mustang.

    Been waiting a long time Hunter to get to see this girl.I'm a huge fan of the colors. White interior looks great. I did go with the summit expoxy primer so we will see how it goes. We just got the motor back in my car. First time in over 20 years.. Hope you check it out.

    Hi Hunter, I watched your whole series with awe and excitement. I extremely looked forward seeing the painting of the car and the sanding and polishing process. Because I am doing some semi professional detailing myself. Even if I live in germany we also got your meguiars stuff and I am eagerly using the 105 and 205 myself... Have to check out your 210 and 110 some time.
    May I give you my humble advice about the cutting and polishing process?
    Anyway here it comes 😀
    I didn't quite get it how many layers of clear coat u applied, was it 4 layers? That should be barely sufficient for the heavy sanding u did afterwards.
    For the cutting process a rotary buffer is ok but you get a lot of swirls and holograms (unfortunately not the Leia ones :-D). To clear these you should use a Dual Action polisher after the cutting using the 210. Doing this, your holos will vanish and you get some high gloss finish...
    Also, change to smaller pads when doing all the nooks and crannys.
    Another hint: when using fresh buffing pads spray some Megs Final Inspection or Megs Last Touch on the buffing pad to get some moisture on it...
    I highly recommend that you read some forums of detailing enthusiasts... You can start with the forum at the meguiars website... There are often reports on how to cut and polish entire cars and this could be helpful in regard to your next projects... 😀
    Being a mustang fan since childhood myself, watching your work really rocks man, keep up the good work!

      Thank you so much for all of this advice! I really appreciate it. It helps because I'm still learning how to cut buff and polish everything. I did about 3 coats of clear, didn't want to lay on too many. I ended up cutting it back too much though trying to remove the orange peel. But I'm learning for the next time. For now the finish works, but there are a ton of pigtails and defects up close. Next time I would do more clear coats and then not sand it down so much. It also doesn't help that the first coat didn't have as much hardner in it. I'll definitely hit it again with a swirl remover/polish and a DA polisher. I'll also get on some forums and do some research like you recommended. I for sure want to get better at the finishing process.

    Hi Hunter welcome back. So what the color choice called again ?

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  3 дня назад +1

      Ford called it caspian blue, but when you get it now the PPG color code is referred to as Nightmist Blue (PPG color code 12547), which can be a little confusing.

    What are you going to do about the engine mechanical problems? Maybe drop a 5.0 in it from a fox body mustang

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  3 дня назад

      Thinking I may just rebuild my 302 that's in it. Probably the cheapest option and would be a good learning experience for me. Also finding a 5.0 from a foxbody and having to rewire everything seems daunting and more expensive. Have you had any experience with doing that kind of swap before?

    • @philh9238
      @philh9238 3 дня назад +1

      I’ve done LS swaps on older cars before. Never done a fox body engine in an older mustang. I do t think it’d be a horrible wiring job.

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  2 дня назад

      @@philh9238 Maybe if I can find one for a good deal. It would be great to find one that's already been rebuilt.

    • @philh9238
      @philh9238 2 дня назад +1

      It will look sharp with a set of crager ss wheels. The hubcaps are just to hoopty. The color would look real good with the cragers

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  8 минут назад

      @@philh9238 Yeah honestly I've been going back and forth on that for a while. I just went with the old school look for now b/c I had the original rims and wanted to try white walls. I'll probably end up switching to a set of nice Cragers, American Racing, or GT rims eventually with some larger tires for a more aggressive look.
