ShadowOfChaos Act 2 music is just genius, and the level itself is soo atmospheric, the way the lave cools down and you're in a hidden palace inside a volcano. Just marvelous!
Dude, I had forgotten this. Man, Sega was NOT fucking around when doing the music for this game. Listening to these, and replaying older games, I'm realizing what I didn't back then: The Sega Genesis/Megadrive was one incredible little machine.
redhotsonic Ah ok. However the model 2 genesis does output stereo sound. The model 1 genesis can only output stereo sound through its head phone jack (port in the front) but the model 2 genesis can output stereo sound through it's back port. You need the AV cable for it (yellow/red/white). I prefer the model 2 over the model 1 for this reason because the cable management is better this way (no audio cables sticking out from the front).
This music reminds me of 1997 when I was 11 years old playing this game in the living room just having a good time. I loved every minute of it! You can't replace memories like that, for real...lol! I love the 90s and I love Sonic so much!
How I understand. I was born in 98, but remember such amazing times playing Castlevania Bloodlines, Rocket Knight and mainly Sonic & Knuckles... Better said, I watched my brother play, and years later play it myself in his Sega Mega Drive. The music and Sky Sanctuary, along with all the others as well bring me such a sense of nostalgia, just when times were simpler, watching my brother play the night away, I remember crying when I was a kid because I thought Knuckles was dying in Sky Sanctuary, but this theme alone gives me such vibes... Getting lost in memories, now we grew up and unfortunately I don't have as much time as I used to with my brother and he lost his love for videogames, but this is definitely one of the best memories.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles is my favorite game for the Genesis. I loved other games but going back to the system 20 years later, I think this game was its masterpiece.

One of my absolute favorite levels of all time. The music, the gameplay... The feel of the entire stage was just perfect. I remember so many hours as a kid, just sitting and playing this level... That was true happiness.
I always loved this song. Though it's a 90s video game song, it has a distinctively 80s feel to it. Sounds very much like 80s dance pop like Shannon's "Let the Music Play" and Pretty Poison's "Catch Me I'm Falling".
This song has such a beautiful melody :)....i looooove the classic sonic soundtracks they were the best composed...seems like the composers put their hearts into the sountracks for the classic sonic games
This song literally makes me cry everytime I hear it. And it's not out of nostalgia, since I grew up in 2010's and I became a Sonic fan right after the first movie, that recently came out. It's just this beautiful.
What made this music so great from a player perspective was that it came off the back of a tedious (though cool) sand-zone with fairly gloomy music. When you finally got through the labyrinth that was 'Sandopolis Act 2' the music of Lava Reef Act 1 before the title screen had even gone away was hype AF.
This music is so awesome i was REALLY hoping that it made it into Brawl. Along with Hydrocity, Sky Sanctuary, Ice Cap and various others ARG its so awesome!

The Sonic & Knuckles cartridge was a revolutionary idea in video gaming. It added 6 more levels to Sonic 3, a whole new character with their own powers to add more depth and play to the game, and you could attach it to Sonic 2 and play as knuckles. In many ways, it was the first DLC. And beyond that, what they were able to squeeze out of those cartridges on a 16-bit processor, was nothing short of amazing.

It's really amazing how much story & heart & excitement they used to pack into these games... and now they've got so much more in terms of graphics & gameplay to play around with, and the new games aren't a patch on the 16 bit ones. *sigh* they just don't make 'em like that anymore.
