I had the good fortune of seeing Thin Lizzy in 1978 at the LA Forum (they were the warm-up act for Kansas). They were touring to promote Live and Dangerous, and what a powerhouse they were live. It remains one of the best shows I have ever seen, and Lizzy remains one of my favorite Rock bands of all-time. RIP Phil.
My first ever concert experience was Thin Lizzy at the Capital Theatre in Sydney in late 1980. After the gig my mates and I waited at the backstage door to get autographs. Phil came out high as a kite with a duckling in his hand ! We didn’t ask nor did he offer any reason as to why. Great gig and made me a lifelong Thin Lizzy fan.
I feel like this was their final album where they had Prog Rock like tendencies in their sound before they straight up became a Hard Rock/Blues Rock band
A wonderful looking boxset. The reason i rarely purchase these types of boxsets is because i'm not a fan of alternate takes, demos and endless live recordings. Personally i would prefer the option of a version that just includes the actual studio album with the booklet a la the Jethro Tull releases.
Great vid. Thin Lizzy having been snubbed by the Rock B Roll hall of shame are perhaps the most underrated hard rock band ever. I found their albums to be of generally poor audio quality, meaning their music is so great it transcends bad recording and or mixing. I wonder if they have the finds to properly remix their catalog with modern technology ala what was done on the Floyd Animals remix.
One band I never saw.Lets face it Lynott was a frontman and bass player with more charisma than even the word charisma could not define. Shout out to John Peel aswell here as you nodded to.Its incredible Lynott was only thity something when he died but he did live hard and fast .Or if your a tea drinking do gooder who likes to bore the arse off people you can buy the Yes box set instead.
Thin Lizzy are a great band. It’s kinda sad that most people just know Boys and Jaibreak. Vagabonds is one of my fave Tin Lizzy albums. I would love to have this set. It looks like a quality product. But…… I feel Thin Lizzy did an excellent job on their reissues from a while back. I have all the “deluxe” versions of their albums and that more than satiates my Thin Lizzy needs. Do I need more Thin Lizzy? Umm…not really.
I'm quite happy with the 1991 remaster compact disc,no need for all the filler material ,making a bloat out of something so small as one album with 12 songs.

As good looking as this boxet is, still i'm just wondering why this particular album should be reissued so huge and expensive box? Are they gonna cash every "important" lizzy album in the future as well?? Live and Dangerous Deluxe boxset was very good looking and justifiable purchase, cos it contain every concert in it. It's also the most known lizzy album as well. Every Thin Lizzy album has been re-issued already. Deluxe versions on cd and normal versions on vinyl. But why Thin Lizzy LIVE/LIFE has been forgotten complitely?? They re-issued that one on CD lately but the sound quality is still mush. I guess it should me re-mix again,and that is gonna cost too much... It is so much easier jus re-issued every album and make those this kind of huge and expensive package so fans have to buy that good damned same album over and over again. Thin Lizzy publishing is so messy and odd compair to other bands. Few suggestions if its have to be expensive and lavish purchase. It may be a nice set, but it seems mighty expensive for a 3 cd box set. Most of which has been previously released. Books and inserts are nice and the packaging may be excellent, but at the end of the day, there’s a lot of repetition. Maybe a more modest package for $30.00 and I’ll buy it.

Nice to have their earlier material highlighted. It's been underappreciated and taken a back seat to the later stuff.
