- NEW GLOCK DAY! In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves meets with the gang at Lipsey's to talk about their exclusive, retro, throwback Gen 1 Glock 17, the Glock 17 P80. The P80 is a faithful replication of the original Gen 1 Glock 17 (known as the Pistole 80) that has been thoughtfully planned out, down to a resurrection of the "tupperware" box these guns used to come in. Check today's video for the lowdown on all the details including pricing and availability.

It's tastefully done. Adding the throwback Tupperware case is a nice touch, too.
Do current glocks not come with the Tupperware case?
no, clamshell plastic
@@tfbtv ah. Wasn't sure. I haven't bought one since ye olden days. Gen1 17 and a gen1 27.
Completely agree. My old Gen 2 G17 (should've held onto) had the same Tupperware. Nothing compares to the tenifer finish, its too bad but completely understandable.
Yep....still have my Gen1 Glock (and carry it too) with the tupperware box that I bought in college. First gun I ever bought with my own money!!! Amazing how the latest Glocks don’t shoot or feel significantly different in my opinion.
That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines here and it costs more than what you make in a month!
You’d be surprised what I make in a month
Haha!
Someone had to
Logjammin if it was more than a dollar ninety eight, I’d be surprised
I’ll send your captain in L A a fucking commendation.
G17 Gen 1 was the first pistol I ever fired 33 yrs ago. It belonged to a US Lt Col in Venezuela. I can’t describe the rush of memories when I picked up a Gen 1 again a couple yrs ago - that grip, the trigger. I swear I became a ten year old again for a moment! I now own 2, and it’ll always be my #1. (Of course, This P80 is now on my list LOL)
Was gonna be surprised that it came out 3 decades ago. Then I realized the mp5 has been out longer.
I recently found a glock17 gen 2 for cheap in the Tupperware container. Plus 2 boxes of ammo for free
Finding these online for sale will be a bitch now that they've used the name "P80".
I agree... I thought at first it was just a Polymer 80 frame shaped like a Gen1 Glock.
Lmao thought the same thing how would you find a holster lmao 😂
Anaya .9mm I mean, any Glock 17 holster will do lol
Maybe its intentional to take back market share from polymer 80
Lmao!
Lol. Glock: innovating backwards.
stingygunner lets do the time warp again....
Would you say the same thing to Les Baer and Wilson Combat? While they manufacture the finest 1911s around, there's only so much that you can do with a 109-year-old design.
@@MrIdasam glocks are a plastic 1911 in every different caliber, really innovation isn't the strong suit of tilting barrel designs

I bet this made James felt like he was back in school. Pitching a tent at his desk hoping that he wouldn't get called to the chalk board.
I think he finished at the desk today.

“It’s not really a new Glock”. That’s the same every year.
Only new Glock was the first Glock
we changed the “4” to “5” after the gen and increased the price by $100
I mean reliability is the key they can't change the bodystyle every year like a car it wouldn't be a Glock its like that new ugly ass corvette wanna be Ferrari looking car its not a corvette anymore
Just when glock couldn't make their naming system more confusing.
" I got a glock p80"
"You mean you built up a p80 lower?"
"No, I bought it. Its a glock, not a p80"
" so the p80 is a new glock?"
"No its a gen 1 glock"
" so you got it used?"
"No it's new"
😐
I lold way too hard @ this
This is perfect.
Well, the Glock P80 dates back to the 1980s, so it's that other company that's causing the confusion.
Who's on first.....
I’m so glad I kept my Gen.1 since all the talk back in those days were so controversial about it. She never let me down, and performs just like clockwork, since 1986 with No hiccups, no issues, just pure reliability no matter the situation. Barely has a thousand rounds through it, and has been in hibernation in my safe since my retirement from service over 21 years ago. For nostalgia’s sake, I think I’ll have a few dance rounds with her to relive a little personal history 😎🙏👍🇺🇸🇵🇭🇺🇸🇵🇭🇵🇭thanks guys, for the memories👍

Worst Glock ever
What about a Glock vacum cleaner with Magpul accessories.🤭
Omg!!! That thing is awesome!! I can't wait to get one! . . . And put a match trigger in it and stipple the grip and send it in to get some slide serrations, also get it drilled so I could add a red dot. I think I can upgrade the slide release and slide stop too for free.
Anyone who buys this won't do a single thing like that to it. Not a chance.
@@mannys9130 you sure . . . 😏 . . .

"This is the first time glock has gone retro." Unless you consider the fact the the design hasn't changed much ever.
They keep selling the fanboys the same gun over and over again, and like apple fan boys, they'll keep buying them.
Jay Zenitram maybe some people like them?
The key words are, "the design hasn't changed much ever"! Yes, this is what happens when you have ultimate success with a product, no need to ever change!
@@stevekatz4372 very well said. I am a fan of glock my g17 gen 2 has served me well. Way to take a joke and make it literal like a hole.
Steve Katz yep, same crappy trigger, same crappy sights and crappy frame. No need to change any of that perfection. Walther PPQ, SIG 320, HKVP9 kills this thing.
Glock doesn't it AGAIN!!!
Does what? I'm not a Glock hater, I think they make a good, reliable gun, but I also think they are overpriced, and the company doesn't listen to what their customer base wants. People have been complaining about the sights and triggers on their guns forever, and in five generations of guns, they have never addressed those issues. I can't justify spending $500+ on a gun only to have to shell out a few hundred more to make it the way it should be right out of the box.
@@avshockey6633 I think you just said what he did, only with a lot more words.
avshockey66 I’ve had a PPQ, P10-C, VP9, and more. I honesty don’t think the trigger on Glocks is that bad, and the Gen 5 trigger is at least somewhat better. I do agree the sights suck, I always change those, but I don’t know that I agree that you have to spend hundreds in aftermarket parts.
@@avshockey6633 Glock DOESN'T it again.
Because Glock DOESN'T listen or innovate.

I watched this entire 20 min video about glocks when I absolutely hate glocks just because of James
Before I even clicked on this, I knew James “Glockenspiel” Reeves would be presenting.
Carl Clarke he creamed his jorts.
I figured it would be a 50/50 chance of either James or Hop. On one hand the Glock apologist, the other the Gen2 aficionado.
“New Glock”
At least Glock admits they are out of new ideas.
Why mess with perfection
Why does the company that everybody is copying all the time need to come up with the new ideas? Can't somebody else do it for once?
@@tfbtv someone else does...... They are named SIG SAUER.
@@tfbtv I'm with you on that one James. I've had M&P, CZ,HK,Walther,Ruger,Kahr and still own some of them but I carry Glocks everyday. Improvements when they feel a small tweek can make it a little better is ok otherwise don't fix it if it ain't broke. I think this is a cool idea and I am surprised that Glock went along with it.
TFB TV Love has blinded you, James. You deserve better...
I drive by Lipsey's twice a day - proud to have them in my community.
My 1st Glock was a gen 2 back in the early 80's at the old Lorton prison range. I'd like to see what the reviews are like as time goes by and it gets more range time👍😉.
"Soo, this was a 3 year project"
*is literally the first pistol Glock ever produced 32 years ago*
Old comment I know. But Glock had gotten rid of their p80 GEN1 molds. These things literally had to be recreated before they could be made. if you ever worked in tooling and manufacturing, especially in a company that does volume like Glock, you'd get that you'd have to divert some of your funds, while still being a top seller, to recreate this retro project. It's not like they took a gen 3 and ground it down to a gen 1. They had to rebuild all this tooling to make this happen.
I don’t know why, but I can’t shake the feeling that we can at least partially thank James for this pistol. Thank you James.
My heart hasn’t stopped like this in awhile. Holy moly this is amazing.
Is it made of porcelain? Does it cost more than I make in a month? Will it get through an airport x-ray?
No, probably no, and yes. X-rays won't damage it in any way 🤣
Glock is an excellent gun. I enjoy my G17 gen 1 (1987 purchase). Good that the pricing is livable and in line with usual Glock costs. 👍
It's crazy bc when I bought my first G17 Gen3 back in 2004 at 18 I remember you could buy all kinds of used Gen1 and Gen2's... Most of them being old police trade in's but if I remember correctly they were still about as much as a new Gen3... Thanks for this blast from the past!!! #StaySafe & #StayBlessed 😎👍
My first CCW license when Texas finally allowed it, I used the Instructors G17 and it was a Gen1. From that point on I was hooked, I said goodbye to wheel guns 😎🇺🇸
No one: we want the same things from glock. Nothing innovative!
Glock: here’s a retro gen 1 g17 that costs more than a gen 5

Hopefully this starts a trend of retro handguns being released..
I gotta have this Gen 1 happy they did this!
Who else is lining up for the re-release of the 4 door 1985 Chrysler LeBaron?
Had an '86 GTS. I remember it had a unique cupholder that folded out of the dash. It rattled. A lot.

If it includes a case of New Coke, I’m in
I'll take a 1985 Pontiac Fiero instead....James can ride bitch...
I have to have one of these. I’m not a “Glock Guy” per se but I have a few, but I absolutely love retro guns. Shooting original pieces of history is incredible but I always feel so limited because I don’t want to put so much wear on them. It’s great when companies do throwbacks with a few modern updates (generally not a fan when aesthetics change, but minor internal changes are fine) I no longer have to feel guilty about shooting and enjoying some retro goodness.
Great vid, and cheers to James for being the biggest Glock fan boy in the world!!!
Props to Glock for being open to making outside ideas a reality. 👍 This looks just as cool as our Vickers 17.
“No it’s NOT a polymer 80” sounds like that came up in a meeting. What an unfortunate coincidence.
Jacob Stewart copy that!
I still have my Gen1 with box cleaning rod ,brush , and paper’s. Shoots well. Excellent
Condition, with 2 non drop mags.
I saw a P80 at my local shop 2 days after this video came out and it was priced a $569. It was the only 9mm Glock in stock that day, they got cleaned out.
It’s cool but the really cool thing about the older glocks was the finish. I got a gen 4 glock21 that only uses soft leather holsters because the modern finish is so delicate..
Your Gen 4 isn’t Tenifer. Glock stopped using Tenifer after Gen 3.
Mike Williams that’s why I baby it. Really wish Glock would make a factory stainless glock 21.
OG Glock coming through~~~
I fired a Gen 1 back in the UK 27 years ago. It was so different from anything else I had fired. I am definitely getting one or two of these!
Oh Wow!! The Gen 1 series! I know some guys that had the OD Green ones. I would like to get the OD series if Glock makes this back in the retro. Originally I hated Glocks because it was plastic. I was primarily a 1911 guy and secondary SIG fan guy. As time went by started to appreciate the system on the simplicity part. 1911s and SIGS are for shooters who have finesse of loving fine triggers and complicated systems. Glock is "Cookie Cutter", "Plastic Fantastic". It made sense to me later when I trained regular folks and future police officers on how much I cut down on training except for the horrible triggers. I taught myself to overcome the trigger and shoot it proficiently. Otherwise it is a fantastically thought out combat handgun.
Glock: Everything old is new again
Without Tenifer glossy finish it is not a pure Glock Gen 1. No modern reproduction can bring back early years of this iconic pistol really this way.
Just picked one up for Christmas love it.
That’s a really great idea! Cool video as usual!!!
Make a gen 2 19 please!!
Plus you'll make my mom hop happy
I remember 1st seeing a glock 17 gen 1 from a neighbor when I was like 13 it had that box and is there still gen 1 or 2 glocks out for sale? My birthday on the 5th but I'm only turning 20 fml
I am a buyer for this Model of History! Great video on this P80 model!! Thank you!
I have a first gen Glock 20 and I love it! No extras just performance and high capacity.
Oh, I can't wait to get my hands on one of these!!! I missed out on the Gen 1 G17. My first Glock was a Gen 2 G23....purchased new in '94. I still have the tupperware!!
Still waiting for US 2a enthusiasts to start naming their daughters Tenifer.
I have a Gen 2 Glock 19, and I love it. I'd LOVE to get my hands on this Gen 1 Glock 17 throwback.
All of this Retro GLOCK Goodness is PURE AWESOMENESS! I bought a Gen 2 GLOCK 17 when I was in NOPD’s Police Academy in ‘97. Like a fool I sold it in ‘04 to get a Gen 3 GLOCK 27. To this day I regret selling that my Gen 2.
Wish I had my first 17.
I felt a sudden sensation in my wallet when I saw the thumbnail.
The sensation is gone, my wallet is lighter, and my pants just grew a bit tighter.
Good for the people who want those, I never really liked the larger older ones but I do see people that like/want them.
I got the last one at my local gun store today 😊I'm happy to put it with my 1988 gen1, I pick it up tomorrow, I won't be able to sleep tonight 😉
Buying this will just be like buying any other Glock in existence...
I know right? I mean, it’s cool, but it’s not even the original so it doesn’t have the value of a REAL gen 1
Bring back the 17L
Glock does production runs of the Gen 3 17L every so often. It hasn't been a regular item for them since the early 90s but they do still make them occasionally.
I meant regular runs. Glock does about 1000 17l units once every 2 years. I wouldnt be opposed to a made to order option either. I could always build my own but I dont want to cc a homemade firearm. And yes I would carry it.
Who makes holsters for the 17L , Can't find a manufacturer for it ????
@@kennethking8943 look for local custom kydex makers. Also etsy has been a surprisingly good source for odd holsters that rock. Otherwise make your own. Not too hard to learn and the startup cost is under 100
I still have the book I bought when Glocks came out “explaining” them. I had forgotten about the supposed accidental discharges and how airport metal detectors couldn’t see them.
Carried a Glock 17 on duty in the 80's until we went to the 40 cal in a model 22. Never let me down. I received the 22 when I retired and still love it. No finger grooves for me.

I remember when the press hysterically claimed they were imperceptible by metal detectors.
About a minute's worth of reading and thought or a phone call was too much for them. It even led to the passage of a law banning guns that didn't exist.
