Until this video I had no clue on the historical connections between various hits of the 90's & the books/works they're based on. This piece made me a new subscriber. Best of luck with your future uploads.
Cruel intentions still holds up. I think the DVD 📀 went out of print for awhile and was hard to find. Bonus fact Sarah Michelle Gellar met husband Ryan Phillipe on cruel intentions.
you mean Reese Witherspoon? I pointed that out in the video lol I thing Sarah Michelle Gellar met her husband Freddie Prince Jr on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer. Fun Fact, both movie from the same producer, Neil something lol
I loved Dangerous Liaisons Glenn Close was robbed of an Oscar. Little trivia: Swoosie Kurtz appears on both Dangerous Liaisons & Cruel Intentions. I love both versions & both deserve restored editions but Dangerous Liaisons would look glorious in 4K.
Yea I was going to put that in text in the video but I just put her 2 clips back to back & figured people might catch it, I just forgot to mention Swoosie when I was filming lol. Glenn totally got robbed, I had to edit out saying that she won cause when filming I thought she did hahaha. That last clip when she declares war gives me chills every time.
@@thelastmoviestanding lol I didn’t notice. Why? I was checking IMDb & saying “wasn’t Swoosie in both these films?” You did the beautiful side by side Edit & I missed it! Love that your channel is based on what movies you love & not just buying new random things. Nothing wrong with that, I just like the focus being on films you’ve watched & loved. Good work…Last Movie man - I don’t think you’ve told us your name lol
@@LilEsBella I really appreciate that! Yea I have absolutely no plans on being a news channel lol too many out there in physical media space that are doing better than I would haha. I just want to talk about movies I love & I really want to to do more retrospectives like this. The editing on this took FOREVER haha. I’m trying to figure out what my next 1 will be

I am a huge fan of Cruel Intentions and had no clue Dangerous Liaisons was the same movie. Now I do not watch those period piece movies so it was an easy miss.
@@CalentureAU I can’t noticed audio issues, but then I’m not really looking for it or know what to listen for unless it’s really bad. I have it on VHS, DVD, & Blu-Ray
I LOVE this film and agree that it seems to be forgotten as of late and a film I definitely think could use a new blu ray maybe from Arrow Video. They did Wild Things so it's possible they could release this one too one day. There also was another adaption I believe titled Valmont that came out I belive a year or so after Dangerous Liaisons. I personally haven't seen that one yet though. They also attempted two tv series, one right after the movie (Cruel Intentions) came out (I believe the director briefly mentions it on the commentary track) and again years later with neither one being picked up and also I do believe there is a young Amy Adams playing the Sarah Michelle Gellar role in the straight to video sequel. The soundtrack IS incredible and probably my favorite of all time. I still have my old cd I got from back in the day that I still play from time to time, not to mention the SCORE is incredible as well but to my knowledge has never been released on cd. Definitely a film of its time from the edgy 90's and one you could not get away with now without EVERYONE trying to "cancel" it and maybe I'm partial to Brunettes but I always thought Sarah Michelle Gellar was hotter as a Brunette but maybe that's just me. 🎥
ive said the EXACT SAME THING to a friend about Arrow doing it because they did Wild Things haha. Someone else in the comments also recommended Valmont, ive never heard of it more. Amy Adams was in the sequel & she did pretty good, nowhere neat as good as SMG but not bad for Amy Adams. That song "Color Blind" when Ryan goes after Reese, so perfect!
Sorry , the thing is not a remake - its a Retelling of the Original Story "who goes there" its not a remake of "thing from another world" very different
@@thelastmoviestanding yeah me too. I love both movies. Both are thesame movies. Only in Roman Holiday, Audrey was a princess and in Notting Hill Julias a famous actress
@@main9613 ill be honestly ive never seen Roman Holiday, always wanted to, but the 1 time I tried the version was such low quality I couldn't do it lol

Dude, you should definitely also check out Valmont (1989). Same source material as those two, and directed by Milos Foreman!
Thanks for the recommend man! i've never heard of that movie but will definitely add it to my list

Cruel Intentions 2 is basically a cancelled TV-show, which was turned into a prequel
I didn't know that.. but that makes SOO MUCH SENSE lol. it came the year after from the same director & the quality is so much more video than film.
