The Descent special feature called Underground Experience was an alltimer. Basically while you watch the movie, there is a small separate screen at the side that talks about the behind the scenes aspect of the film that is sync to that certain scene you are watching. Like a live action directors commentary/ cast commentary but also behind the scenes while that scene is happening

@@thelastmoviestanding The Alien Quadrilogy set is very much worth it! It has the Assembly Cut of Alien 3 on it which is a color corrected and added special effects version of David Fincher's work print (and preferred cut) that he first turned in that the studio did not like and ordered it to be re-cut.

Right here with you in terms of the extras. I love the behind the scenes stuff showing how they were made along with the problems and also the successes.
Do love that the boutique labels are upgrading and releasing the older movies stacked with stuff but like you, for me… the interviews don’t always satisfy the urge of wanting to see more actual on set stuff.

The Alien Anthology boxset has insane making of docs for each movie. I think each one is feature length too. Anytime I rewatch them I always rewatch the docs too. I think those discs are only in the anthology box though.

I just got the new planet of the apes on 4K and it comes with a second disk that is the whole movie (on Blu-ray) with the top half of the screen, being the finished movie in the bottom, half of the screen, being the raw footage with the people in Mokapu suits, and a few full CGI pre viz scenes and he can be played with full commentary. By far one of the best special features, a studio has given us Saint peter Jackson, lord of the rings/hobbit, and James Cameron Avatar movies

There’s a great documentary on the Jaws blu-ray called The Shark is Still Working . It’s a bit different because it doesn’t just talk about the making of film it talks about the legacy of Jaws and its impact and it’s fascinating, it even talks about the making of the original making of Jaws documentary that was made for the original laserdisc release. It’s a must watch for any Jaws fan. It’s an older film but there’s a great documentary on the special edition DVD of Disney’s 2000 Leagues Under the Sea. It’s worth watching just to learn about the original giant squid sequence, you see how terrible and fake looking the original squid was and what Walt Disney went through to get a better looking squid and resulted in the best scene from the movie.

I'm kinda weird with making ofs and behind the scenes. I avoid them like the plague. For me it kills the illusion somehow, as stupid as that sounds. If I saw a guy with his fist up Salacious B. Crumb's butt, working him like the doll that he is, I couldn't delete that from my memory. Although it's worse with settings. I recently saw a picture where the ending of Jaws was filmed like half a minute from a beach or something. Takes away the tension for me. When I'm into a movie, I'm fully immersed. That's why I could never watch the 18 week long making of of Lord Of The Rings either.

"Making of" pieces these daysare fluff pieces made or repackaged to be a Making of where as really they are pre release promo chunks to sell the movie. Tells and shows you nothing. Or worse yet, lies to you.
