Noice Vis, Hopefully this video means we'll be getting videos of gundam in the future. And on a personal note, I think you'll definitely really enjoy IBO, to this day it's still one of my all time favs. Nicely done video btw, considering how long some other gundam introductory videos are, I'm sure this vid will blow up on views in the future.
Cheers man! I’d absolutely love to do more videos on Gundam in the future, cause if I’m perfectly honest my channels a bit all over the place, which is fine, but if I want to grow I guess I gotta niche down a bit? I love doing the Zoids stuff and I’ll always continue to do it, but the fan-base isn’t huge, so maybe niching down to the mecha guy could be in my best interest 🤔 Who knows the whole RUclips thing is so confusing I’ve been doing it for a couple years and I still feel like I’m trying to get my footing. Out of curiosity man, other than just simply reviews, is there any other type of Gundam content you’d like to see? Any specifics about the series you’d like to see covered?
@@Viseak I completely get it, I love Zoids and the zoids community, but unfortunately it's pretty small. I'm completely on board if you wanna go for the mecha route (with the occasional non mecha series or videogame here and there), there's lots of franchises you could cover, you already did Code Geass, Zoids and Gundam, so now you could talk about Gurren Lagann, Evangelion, Macross, Voltron, Mazinger Z, Eureka Seven, S.S.S.S. Gridman, Aldnoah Zero, Full Metal Panic!, etc. I'm really excited to see you expanding on the mecha genre in your channel (I believe every zoids and gundam fan is a fan of mecha in general) and to answer your question, I would love to see you do deep analysis videos on the gundam lore and characters (they're really complex and worth explaining) as well as the overall message of the series (There's no good or bad guys in war, there's also no winners or heroes in war, only death and destruction), I would also love to hear your personal thoughts on the series, maybe do a comparison between them (some series are really alike, others are very different, would be interesting to hear what you think about that). I think I went a bit overboard with the suggestions (sorry about that, i get excited over things like this), but whatever you decide I'll stay here watching your content. Cheers mate!
@@alejandrogonirovirosa3214 nah that’s fair enough mate! Gurren Lagann and Eva are two series I definitely want to cover at some point. Character analysis is also something I’m heavily considering for Gundam, I think Amuro gets really overshadowed by Char and would love to make videos on both individually cause they’re fantastic well written characters. As well as exploring NewTypes and the core themes surrounding them, it’s honestly such an interesting topic seeing human evolution in that way and I’d love to go in on it further. The themes of war could end up being a great case study on how perfectly Zoids Chaotic Century and Gundam explore the nuance of there being no true ‘good’ and ‘bad’ guys, in an anime where you’d typically expect good and bad guys. There’s plenty I want to cover trust me, it just takes me AGES to write scripts especially on series I don’t know inside out like Zoids hahaha
This video is really helpful but you can Short all of them into 4 Tomino UC Gundam series that you need to watch in order to understand universal century
I would only recommend gundam build fighters after you have watched quite a bit of gundam or know a decent amount of gundam lore as a majority of the references WILL fly over your head
I just watched The Witch from Mercury and loved it, although I expected a bit more of realism in the storytelling. I'll go with Unicorn next and continue with the original series. I've always been intrigued by Char.
But I'm already a fan of gundam and I've seen most of these before. While I do have a bit of a personal pet peeve about certain franchises them being how Iron blooded orphans I only like the 1st season my friends can vouch for me on that especially considering what we know about the writing process of it including season 2, F 91 should have been a series, After war gundam X should have had more than just a couple more episodes and then be given a chance to have an English dub, and I prefer Build fighters over Try, Divers and Re Rise, I do still enjoy the franchise a lot especially since I went and got a couple of model kits over the years. And Hey it's the same series that gave us G gundam, solid snake voicing a character in 0080 and Top gun with Gundams so it is still a lit series lol.
To be honest I still have heaps to catch up on, I just binged the UC timeline in the last week or so haha And I agree F 91 deserved a full series, it was a great ride to say the least. I think next on my list to watch will be either Iron Blooded Orphans or G Gundam tbh. In terms of the kits I’ve always been more of a Zoids guy, but after properly watching Gundam I’m considering the dive into Gunpla
@@Viseak Well if you want to get into Gunpla then it's best to start with High Grade and then work your way up. Or be like me and just stick to HG lol.

Could not disagree more with starting with Origin. Canonicity aside, as a prequel it’s inherently written with the expectation of you having the original show or at least knowing it’s characters (it’s why the Origin manga only does the backstory after Movie 2) Also personally speaking, not only does Origin have some stupid shit thrown it (ex. the real Char), it misses a lot of why people actually like Char as a character for the sake of making him “the coolest” since he’s the author’s favourite character
lol. You just placed the movies/series/OVAs in the UC timeline. That works. 😂 I'm a huge UC BUFF and if someone is pressed for time, I truly feel one can definitely skip NT Narritive and maybe even skip Double Zeta. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed ZZ, but it was all over the place sometimes.
Honestly i would only recommend the movie trillogy to people who are lazy or as a re-watch of the original because there's so much missing thats been cut like the Gun Tank and G Armor aren't even in the movies at all except one scene at the end where they forget to edit them out
I am writing a story about robots battles and political influences in the country, I realised Gundam has done it 40 years ago. What a series just discovered it last night, already watching Gundam origins
So far, these are Gundam animes that I have watched: 00 (Alt.) => Thunderbolt (0079, non-canon UC) => Unicorn (0096) => 08th MS (0079) => 0080: War in the Pocket => Narrative (0097) => 0083: Stardust Memory => Zeta (0087) => Hathaway (0105) => Witch from Mercury (Alt.) Yeah, it is really messy lol.
just got into Gunpla and had no prior knowledge of Gundam, got the RX-0 Unicorn and loved it so thought i go watch it, it wasn't that bad, lack of epilogue was annoying, then i went into Seed since Bandai had been advertising Freedom like there is no tomorrow, really enjoyed it, going into Destiny next.
I disagree, but I tend to have a pretty warped view on prequels. There are very few I’d genuinely consider better to watch after all the original stuff. Most prequels, when done right, work as a great entry point for newcomers into a series that are too intimidated by its long history (Gundam being a near perfect example, the fact Origin’s not technically canon ruins this a little but ya know, close enough).
The Origin is probably my favor of all, but I actually recommend watching 0079, Z and Char's Counterattack first, UC-wise. I find it cooler to watch the origin in a retrospective way, you will like and understand the characters better. However, for very first timer to Gundam i actually recommend Seed or 00, the animation from old UC ones are just too old for most people and they will probably find the story too slow and dragging. Seed and 00 are not too old, the characters and mobile suits are cool, story is pretty "public-friendly", like there is something for everyone and you might not love it but you won't hate it.
I like it. I love the premise. I just cannot stand Mikazuki. If his character was a robot/android it would come across better. I mean he literally gets limbs chopped off and just stares off into the distance blankly. Serious political discussion? Blank stare. Someone does something nice for him? Blank stare. A lifelong friend dies? Blank stare. A girl BANGS HIM? Blank stare. He's like what an edgelord thinks the perfect edgelord is. 'Above it all' to the max, so much so that he's above eating dinner.
The timeline Is correct for UC but there Is Just One thing to remember. Thunderbolt and Origin are anime version of non canonical UC mangas that were made "canonical" by Sunrise adapting only the portion they wanted In addition there Is another side story to add Cucuruz Doan's Island movie that Is set in the same Origin alternative timeline but it's a Cool movie to Watch.
watching gundam and starting with The Origin was the best desicion i could have made, it makes every character that much better and that much more important.
@@charlescaulkins8306 honestly, practically nothing, the 3rd movie has slightly better animation if I’m not mistaken (and a slightly different ending) But if you’ve got the time the original TV run might be the way to go, it does suffer a bit from ‘monster of the week’ syndrome, but if you can get over that it allows the characters to develop a lot more. Personally I watched the first 15 or so episodes of the TV series and just switched to the movies after that as it was dragging a bit too much for my liking
Start with "the origin" and not watching the original TV series is the worst thing to someone who don't know Gundam. Just go chronologically and you will have a incredible journey. Watch "The origin" first will destroy completely the experience of try to discover and understand Char and UC.
The original tv series have so much buried on that old animation. Discussions, characters, development. It's old, but true gold if you are really into it. If gundam is just robots clash, go for G and Seed. No need to waste time on UC.
@@PauloShiotsuki it’s so much more than the old animation, although that’s a large factor, it’s also the pacing and the monster of the week format absolutely killing any enjoyment a modern audience would get. It’s slow, it’s old, and is boring. Sure, there’s a lot to be said about the characters and the world, which is why I rate the movies. And besides, all of it is done far better in Zeta, even Double Zeta or really, near ANY other UC entry anyway
you just never watched the tv series@@Viseak ? i recomend you to give a chance and check. No monster week every episode is conected to the next one. Theres always a battle in the episode, that is not a constant in the "new ones" like "mercury witch" had soo many episodes without action and uinexplicable time sweep, making original tv no slow. immediately invalidated at the beginning by starting with the origin
And if you want to go even further, read side story mangas like Encounters in Space, Lost War Chronicles, Blue Destiny, Missing Link, Rise from the Ashes, and Iron Mustang. All of these happened during the One Year War, or at least what could've happened.
Im gonna save this to my watchlist order. Thanks
Yea I need something like this for dragon ball
Been wanting to get into gundam since evolution has come out really like the game
I mostly recommended people new to gundam to watch either SEED, 00, IBO or wing first before delving into UC series.
I started with Wing before jumping into the UC timeline series. Wing has a lot of great designs, the plot can get bloated but I still enjoyed it.
00 is what I recently started with, almost done with S1 atm and I am freaking obsessed rn
The information is all I want to hear. Every second is not wasting my time at all. Thank you very much for considering your viewers!
Thank you for not posting an inflated 20+Minute video
I would personally advise someone to watch 096-Unicorn first, just because the animation is updated, the story can be a standalone. This might hook the viewer to explore the lore and backtrack to the OYW-UC79 series/trilogy and then so on. Gundam Origins to me is really just fan service for us Zaku/Char freaks.
Iron Blooded Orphans is underrated
Noice Vis, Hopefully this video means we'll be getting videos of gundam in the future. I specially cannot wait until you make videos on the UC side stories, 08th MS Teams, War in the pocket and Thunderbolt really got me more invested in the franchise than the gundam original series.
I love doing the Zoids stuff and I’ll always continue to do it, but the fan-base isn’t huge, so maybe niching down to the mecha guy could be in my best interest 🤔
Who knows the whole RUclips thing is so confusing I’ve been doing it for a couple years and I still feel like I’m trying to get my footing.
The original gundams are SO hard to watch. I'm so glad I watched a recap and just jumped right into the thunderbolt, 0080, and stardust.
Alrighty, I'll try and come back to say my thoughts on the order
Thank you
I would only recommend gundam build fighters after you have watched quite a bit of gundam or know a decent amount of gundam lore as a majority of the references WILL fly over your head
I just watched The Witch from Mercury and loved it, although I expected a bit more of realism in the storytelling. I'll go with Unicorn next and continue with the original series.
I've always been intrigued by Char.
Perfect listing IMO! For stretch goal, I’d sub watching the OG series instead of the movies if you have the time.
Aren’t there more Gundam shows like Turn A Gundam, Gundam G No Reconguista, Gundam Build and so. How would watch these shows
No real order there, they're just kinda their own series
You know Gundam 00 was the first Gundam show that I ever watched.
Gundam WfM for me
But I'm already a fan of gundam and I've seen most of these before.
To be honest I still have heaps to catch up on, I just binged the UC timeline in the last week or so haha
And I agree F 91 deserved a full series, it was a great ride to say the least.
@@MrDarksol I’ve heard Zoid HMM’s are roughly equivalent to an MG, so honestly, I was considering going for an MG, RG or even potentially a PG
At the moment I’m leaning towards grabbing an RG Sazabi and Nu Gundam tho
@@Viseak Then you should go for it if you can.
@@MrDarksol yeah the troubles finding them in stock hahaha
Maybe one day
Could not disagree more with starting with Origin.
Canonicity aside, as a prequel it’s inherently written with the expectation of you having the original show or at least knowing it’s characters (it’s why the Origin manga only does the backstory after Movie 2)
Also personally speaking, not only does Origin have some stupid shit thrown it (ex. the real Char), it misses a lot of why people actually like Char as a character for the sake of making him “the coolest” since he’s the author’s favourite character
I watched Gundam 00 first then unicorn 0096 and then I just watched whatever I want. 😂 I followed my own path.
"watch order"
I thought you buy a gundam watch and decide to order it in 60 seconds. 😅
But then on the next rewatch squeezing Dylan's island in between watching 1 and 2 of the movie trilogy
lol. You just placed the movies/series/OVAs in the UC timeline. That works. 😂
I'm a huge UC BUFF and if someone is pressed for time, I truly feel one can definitely skip NT Narritive and maybe even skip Double Zeta.
So far, these are Gundam animes that I have watched: 00 (Alt.) => Thunderbolt (0079, non-canon UC) => Unicorn (0096) => 08th MS (0079) => 0080: War in the Pocket => Narrative (0097) => 0083: Stardust Memory => Zeta (0087) => Hathaway (0105) => Witch from Mercury (Alt.)
Yeah, it is really messy lol.
Yup if ya trying to "speed-run" Mobile Suit Gundam!❤
just got into Gunpla and had no prior knowledge of Gundam, got the RX-0 Unicorn and loved it so thought i go watch it, it wasn't that bad, lack of epilogue was annoying, then i went into Seed since Bandai had been advertising Freedom like there is no tomorrow, really enjoyed it, going into Destiny next.
This is highly appreciated.
Thanks for saving me hella time doing research you the bomb man
OH NO i have just come to realise all my favourite gundam series (and gunpla) are all from a alternate universe :O
Neither Thunderbolt nor Origin are cannon to the UC timeline.
And most likely would make people more confused when things dont add up
Origin should be watched last lol. It won't be as impactful otherwise. And 83 is after Zeta for the same reason.
HOW THO?!?! I can't find 75% of those anywhere to stream :(
The video I needed, thank you. Where can I watch Thunderbolt though?
Witch From Mercury deserves a mention for its quality
I hadn’t watched WFM back then but yeah 100%, it’s a great watch
Nice recoms, but I just can't unhear over "zee-zee" or "zero-zero".
Double-O
Double-Zeta
Quick and to the point take my like
I started with iron blood orphans today
You poor soul
The 8th MS Team.. All Time Fav ❤
Watch iron blooded orphans. Just watch Iron Blooded Orphans. Do it. It's so good.
Thunderbolt and Origin are anime version of non canonical UC mangas that were made "canonical" by Sunrise adapting only the portion they wanted
In addition there Is another side story to add
Cucuruz Doan's Island movie that Is set in the same Origin alternative timeline but it's a Cool movie to Watch.
New Viseak video 👀
It’s only 60 seconds 😞
Damn, way to make me feel insecure dude 😒
Next video will definitely be longer tho haha
ya know.... i was making my way thru the original but it's taking a LOOOONG time. probably gonna switch to the 3 movies on Netflix
I fckn love zam, just tankong hundreds of shots, tilts up slightly BLATZ one shots 1 to 3 entire battleships
Did he just say "zero zero"
watching gundam and starting with The Origin was the best desicion i could have made, it makes every character that much better and that much more important.
Other than Gundam I movie. I have only seen the alt universe stuff 😭
Thanks mate🔥
Thank you bro omfg
Me before watching this video: Don't know much of anything about this franchise, but how expansive can it be?
Me after watching: 0_0
I mean it ain’t as crazy as something like Fate, but it’s definitely pretty expansive, and well worth your time
@@Viseak So aside from time crunching, what do the movies have over the original first Gundam anime?
@@charlescaulkins8306 honestly, practically nothing, the 3rd movie has slightly better animation if I’m not mistaken (and a slightly different ending)
But if you’ve got the time the original TV run might be the way to go, it does suffer a bit from ‘monster of the week’ syndrome, but if you can get over that it allows the characters to develop a lot more.
Personally I watched the first 15 or so episodes of the TV series and just switched to the movies after that as it was dragging a bit too much for my liking
Which is the OG series you guys refer to? I always thought Gundam wing was the OG lol that’s what came on toonami when I was a kid
@@zachwalton3544The one from 1979
Excellent order but yet again the Turn A erasure is tragic because it’s easily the best in the entire series.
Thank you sir 🤝
nicely done.
08th ms team took me by suprise. It was good
I had no idea wing and seed were not main story lines
That, or just watch it in release order. You know, so you don't get COMPLETE whiplash in terms of quality.
And if that isn’t enough, spend your life savings on the model kits
Bro didn't say Turn A, what a shame
Start with "the origin" and not watching the original TV series is the worst thing to someone who don't know Gundam. Just go chronologically and you will have a incredible journey. Watch "The origin" first will destroy completely the experience of try to discover and understand Char and UC.
Couldn’t disagree more man. Starting a newcomer with the old and dry 0079 TV series is the worst way to try and get a newcomer into Gundam
There is soo much happening on the White base, the people living there, the enemies and in the world that maybe modern audience can't stand on the storm of information.
Give a chance, you will be surprised.
@@PauloShiotsuki nah it better to start with origin because most if not all will drop it after first 10 min because of the animation alone
ok but what about mobile suit gundam 1976?
G Gundam is actually the only required viewing, so you can just start with that and then your good.
extremely helpful
