The song is supposed to be a parody, mocking war and soldiers. But hey, it truly is a good day to die for a soldier when they know what they are fighting for and what they defending, so fuck it. This is now a legit war song
@@MagicalGeek No, I think they understood parody. The song is mocking propaganda in support of a militaristic state. It is not meant to poke fun at the individuals that choose to fight, but rather the grandiose spectacle that states use to convince citizens to submit to and operate as enforcement of the state. Basically it's Paul Verhoven pulling a "Springtime for Hitler."

What really cracks me up is that half the people who watch the video probably won't understand the satirical nature of the song and the movie it came from.
@@_malprivate2543 i've seen this comment multiple times, You failed at satire when the target actualy agrees with the message but nevertheless still enjoys the song and felt pride in doing so. It's Yankee Doodle and Hope County Choir all over again I'd say.
It's superb!! But I can't help and chuckle at the idea it was composed to be propaganda for a totalitarian dystopian state who couldn't justify it's existence without a war in that movie... The third of a series, based on a book that was denouncing dystopian totalitarianism and wanted to warn against how the United States could become just as cynically aweful as Nazi Germany and USSR.... Sorry to these US army fans who thought this was just inspiring!! 😁👍
The book wasn't denouncing the society it was describing, it was supporting it. The society the book described wasn't fascist or totalitarian, either, Heinlein simply suggested, political activity should be limited to those willing to serve their country. The idiot leftist director of the film(s) just couldn't be bothered to read the book, and decided to try and make it a satire on a supposedly militant fascist society. What in this song suggests fascism or totalitarianism? I think the reason it works so well in inspiring American patriotism is that it sounds just like a patriotic pop song. The main point of the song is being willing to die for your country, which is common amongst many patriotic songs, and is right I think. Go listen to the first verse of the English 'I Vow To Thee My Country'- it makes the same point at this song.
This would make a better recruitment ad than whatever the heck the official one these days is supposed to be.
It’s way better than Emma and her two moms, I can tell you that.
This is one hell of a recruitment video . I hope that this calls into all our American Warriors to defend the United States.
The sight of U.S. flag above Prague brings back powerful memories: It was still there when this my hometown was controlled by the very very bad guys.

Valor,
We call upon our soldiers,
In this our darkest hour,
Our way of life is what we’re fighting for
The flag that flies above us,
Inspires us each day,
To do our very best in every way
It’s a good day to die,
When you know the reasons why,
Americans, we fight for what is right
A noble sacrifice,
For liberty, we’ll pay the price,
For the U S of A, I would give my life
Well, all is fair in love and war,
That’s what my CO says,
Your not alive unless you’re close to dying
These are the words I March by:
Freedom, Justice, Valor
And every single day I’m out there trying
It’s a good day to die,
When you know the reasons why,
Americans, we fight for what is right
A noble sacrifice,
For liberty, we’ll pay the price,
For the U S of A, I would give my life
Freedom, Justice, Valor
The Eagle he flies high above us,
The Eagle he makes our spirit soar,
He’s giving us strength to carry on,
To fight, and win this war
It’s a good day to die,
When you know the reasons why,
Americans, we fight for what is right
Freedom, Justice, Valor
A noble sacrifice,
For liberty, we’ll pay the price,
For the U S of A, I would give my life
